GTECH Supplies Norsk Tipping with Interactive Products for Largest-Scale Game Launch in Lottery’s History

Lottery successfully deploys 65 GTECH iBingo, iCasino and eInstant games, as well as GTECH Player Account Manager system and integrated Player Services

PROVIDENCE, RI, USA and Oslo, NORWAY (February 3, 2014) --Through an agreement with GTECH, Norsk Tipping has launched its first range of iGaming products exclusively for the Norwegian market. The deployment of 65 games is the largest launch of its kind in the Lottery’s history.

Norsk Tipping was asked by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture to develop online games to provide the Norwegian public with an attractive offering and at the same time be in the forefront of Responsible Gaming.

With this launch, Norsk Tipping is challenging foreign betting companies not licensed in Norway by providing attractive games that are not as aggressive as the cross border operators’. Responsible Gaming is our trademark,” said Norsk Tipping CEO Torbjørn Almlid.

GTECH has supplied Norsk Tipping, a World Lottery Association (WLA) member, with its award-winning iBingo product, an iCasino portfolio including a range of slot games, and eInstants designed to ensure that the new portfolio appeals to a wide range of players. The games, which are available to registered Norwegian players across mobile, tablet, and desktop channels, were launched on January 14, 2014. This is Norsk Tipping’s first agreement with GTECH, which is also providing the Lottery with hosting and operational services.

Norsk Tipping must be up-to-date to survive as a gaming company and provide customers with attractive games. The Player Account Manager system features a fully scalable and powerful open architecture that works seamlessly across platforms, securely captures all player data, and allows easy integration of third-party products. The system has been integrated with Norsk Tipping’s current Player Card program, giving the Lottery a complete view of player activity across all gaming channels, including the retail gaming channel.

Scientific Games Announce First North American Deployment of Next Generation Central Management System, AEGIS NGS

ATLANTA, Georgia (February 3, 2014) -- Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS) today announced the North American launch of AEGIS NGS, a next generation central management system, one of the most advanced systems in the lottery industry.  It will make its debut in 2015 with Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) and be deployed across nearly 5,000 WCLC retailers. AEGIS NGS is an upgrade to the Lottery’s current Scientific Games system. Totalizator Sportowy (Polish National Lottery) Achieves Record Annual Sales

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, (January 29, 2014/ -- Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) ("Pollard Banknote") is proud to be a major contributing partner in the sales success enjoyed by Totalizator Sportowy (Polish National Lottery). The Lottery announced a significant increase in instant sales in 2013-31.9% over 2012 sales. This annual sales record coincides with the Lottery extending its contract with Pollard Banknote. This extension, the first of five possible 12-month extensions, has an estimated value of approximately $6.9 million USD.

Smartplay's New Lottery Drawing Machine Designs Take-Off in Thailand and Vietnam

EDGEWATER PARK, New Jersey (January 20, 2014) – Lottery players in Vietnam and Thailand recently met the latest evolution in traditional lottery drawing machines, the Viper and Comet, as developed by SMARTPLAY International, Inc.

The Viper is a single digit drawing machine which uses high powered blowers to mix lightweight numbered balls prior to their upward, vacuum selection. The new machine evolved from the popular SuperBingo, a traditional bingo drawing machine which can draw and display up to 86 numbers.

Ho Chi Minh Lottery Company, Ltd. worked with Smartplay’s Vietnamese agent, Nguyen Huu Tuan, and Smartplay designers to create miniature single-digit bingo drawing machines similar in appearance to the SuperBingo, but enhanced with optics, monitors and accent lighting. Ho Chi Minh Lottery Company, Ltd. purchased eight new Vipers and will launch their new game this upcoming spring.

In contrast, gravity is used to draw the numbered balls for the new Comet lottery draw machine, recently purchased by Compact Solution Co., Ltd. for the Government Savings Bank of Thailand.  Based on the stylized Smartplay Halogen and Halogen II, the Comet also uses captivating lighting to illuminate each ball as it is selected and ascends to the top of the mixing chamber.

Selected balls can travel down either side of the machine’s ball trail for display. The newly designed machine is compact and ideally suited for single-digit games, easily accommodating display and mixing of ten numbered balls, as Compact Solutions requested. 

Both newly designed machines originated from highly successful, durable and reliable traditional drawing machine models crafted by Smartplay International. While the classic models are available for purchase, the new designs have been increasingly successful due to their economic size and weight.

Tipp24 SE Advise Transfer of Registered Office to London Expected to be Completed on February 7, 2014

HAMBURG, Germany (January 31, 2014) -- Tipp24 SE expects registration of the transfer of its registered office to London with the UK's Companies House on 7 February 2014. The transfer had been resolved by the company's Annual General Meeting of 28 June 2013 with a large majority. It will become effective as of the registration.

Dr. Hans Cornehl, CEO of Tipp24 SE, states: 'Having accomplished all necessary preparations for the move of Tipp24 SE, we are now on the verge of completing the transfer of our registered office. London provides excellent conditions for the further strategic development and internationalisation of our company. We aim to fully utilise the opportunities which the UK offers.'

According to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, trading of the company's shares (WKN TPP024 / ISIN DE0007847147) will continue as normal during the relocation. No suspension is planned.

As of the registration of the transfer, the shares in Tipp24 SE will convert into registered shares under UK law. In order to enable the registered shares to continue trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, they will be traded in the form of so called Clearstream Interests (CI) under WKN TPP024 / ISIN GB00BHD66J44. The respective adjustment in the shareholders' depository accounts will be effected automatically upon the registration of the transfer. Each Clearstream Interest (CI) represents a registered share in Tipp24 SE. Shareholders of Tipp24 SE do not need to take any action.

A detailed description of the consequences of the company's relocation for shareholders, creditors and employees is provided in the Transfer Report of the Executive Board dated 21 May 2013, which can be downloaded from the company's website (www.tipp24-se.de) in the special section 'Annual General Meeting 2013 / Relocation'.

Tipp24 SE will announce the registration of the transfer of its registered office immediately via a capital market announcement pursuant to § 30e WpHG.

ISBB Launch New Online Betting System with the Advanced Betting & Lottery Platform from LVS & Lotsys

LVS and Lotsys won an international tender to supply their Advanced Betting & Lottery Platform technology (ABP) to ISBB in the form of a customized ABP platform comprising a sportsbook, a transactional engine, web and mobile site (www.winner.co.il).

Half-Way Through Fiscal Year, Lottery Transfers to State Up Six Percent

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (February 2, 2014) -- For the second quarter of fiscal year 2014, the Louisiana Lottery Corporation transferred more than $39.4 million to the state's coffers, bringing cumulative transfers for the year to over $80.1 million, which exceeds last year's transfer to date by $4.6 million.

With second-quarter revenue of $112,775,997, the Lottery contributed $39,471,600 to the state treasury. By law, 35 percent of Lottery proceeds are transferred to the state treasury and dedicated for K-12 public education.

No other lottery jurisdiction in the U.S. contributes a greater percentage of revenue to its government.

Retailers earn five percent sales commission on Lottery tickets, plus incentives for cashing winning tickets and bonuses for selling winning tickets, totalling nearly $6.3 million for October to December of 2013.

Lottery President Rose Hudson credited the Lottery's recent success to a Mega Millions jackpot that exceeded $600 million in December as well as solid scratch-offs sales.

"Lottery scratch-off sales are running 13 percent higher than last year thanks to perfecting our inventory management program," noted Hudson.

"These improvements in our the operational efficiencies, exciting new game designs and strong relationships with our retailer partners has helped put the Lottery in the position of outpacing last year, which was our second most successful."

In November 2013, Karma Gaming commissioned Gamer Insights Group to conduct an Attitudes and Usage Study among lottery players and gaming audiences. The data contained in this White Paper is based upon an attitudes and usage study of 3,000 consumers across the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. It examines the points of intersection between play-for-fun games and lottery, and how lotteries might be able to use game trends to increase brand appeal among new audiences and strengthen their digital offerings.

"With over 70% of lotteries participating in social media and 43% offering some form of online sales, digital has become a fast growing marketing and sales channel for lotteries,” said Jay Aird, co-founder and chief innovation officer at Karma Gaming. “The transition from bricks to clicks, however, has not been easy. Beyond the regulatory hurdles and technical challenges, lotteries face incredible competition online for the customer’s time and attention.”

As a result of these challenges, interactive sales for lotteries vary greatly, ranging from under 1% to over 40% of total sales, according to La Fleur’s data. “What we have seen is that the early movers in Europe have exploited the potential to establish the Internet as another sales channel. As a result, online sales for these pioneers now represent 20% to 30% of their total sales,” said Terri Markle, president and CEO, TLF Publications. “In contrast, U.S. lotteries have faced an uphill battle to receive regulatory approval to sell online or to test new types of games to sell online, beyond lotto subscriptions. Online sales represent only about 1-2% of sales.”

Lottery users are active players of casual & social games, over-indexing against the general population. U.S. lottery players are the heaviest casual & social game players across the three markets studied. Casual & social gaming has become the fastest growing form of mass media of all time, bringing hundreds of millions of new consumers to the category who never before considered themselves gamers.

“Lotteries are struggling for digital relevance while casual and social gaming has become the pastime of choice for the mass market. Could lotteries benefit from the convergence of the two categories? How interested are lottery players in casual & social games? Do ‘gamer’ audiences enjoy lottery games, and could they represent the next valuable audience for lotteries moving online? This whitepaper provides insights into these questions, and explores the world of casual & social gaming from a lottery perspective,” said Paul LeBlanc, co-founder and chief executive officer at Karma Gaming.

Among the major findings of the White Paper, lottery players, casual & social gamers enjoy the same types of games. Among U.S. lottery players, 70% play casual & social games on computer, while 59% play on smartphones, and 48% play on tablet devices. Among U.S. smartphone gamers, 85% participate in lottery and 77% purchase lottery scratch games. “This suggests that lotteries and lottery suppliers could grow their user bases by targeting casual & social gamers with marketing and new product innovations,” said Aird.

Finally, lottery players are more advanced with mobile commerce than reflected by current industry sentiment, according to the report. “Lotteries and suppliers should take note that their player bases are more advanced digitally than realized by the industry,” said LeBlanc.

New Australasian Gaming Expo Venue at Glebe Island, Passes Its First Test

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia (January 30, 2014) -- On Friday 24th January, the operators of the new venue for the 2014 Australasian Gaming Expo, held a test event for future exhibitors at the new Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island, site. This will be the home for the Australasian Gaming Expo for the next 3 years.

With over 500 visitors attending on the day, it was a great opportunity for them to test that the ferries and buses worked, that the taxi drivers could find the new venue and that visitors coming by car could find the new venue’s car park by knowing to turn left to go past the Super Yacht Marina and not proceed along Victoria Road.

Also at the test were the complete catering services offering everything from scrumptious Tandoori filled Baguettes to complete Caesar Salads. And in a step up from the catering at the old Darling Harbour venue, the coffee was proper coffee, made by real baristas with proper coffee machines.

Several exhibitors that will be at AGE 2014 attended and they were pleasantly surprised at both the sense of permanence and spaciousness that the new venue offered.  Here’s what Enrike Vogel – Customer Service Manager at PHaT Sourcing said after he had finished the guided tour; “The view looking outside of Hall 1 is absolutely breathtaking.  Inside the Halls there is such a natural lighting and this felt very warm and inviting.   Very excited this year to be exhibiting in the new venue at AGE!!

Lindsay Verdon from Paynter Dixon was as equally excited; “Glebe Island, as a new facility, has a lot of positive features and the natural light is excellent.  We will be able to create a stand with more design flair.  The AGE event has been held at Darling Harbour for 24 years, this move will enlighten and boost our enthusiasm for new ideas which our industry is all about!!”

The Australasian Gaming Expo will be held from the 12th of August to the 14th of August 2014.
