INTRALOT USA Successfully Launch the 44th US Lottery

DULUTH, Georgia / ATHENS, Greece (September 1, 2014) -- INTRALOT, Inc., based in Duluth, GA, the North American subsidiary of INTRALOT Group, is pleased to announce the successful launch of the newest U.S. lottery. The Wyoming Lottery (WyoLotto™) made history at noon on Sunday August 24th by selling its first tickets to Mary Ogg from Sheridan. The lottery chose her randomly from more than 27,000 entrants in a giveaway promoting the launch of the lottery. In addition to purchasing the first lottery ticket sold in Wyoming, she also won a 2014 Jeep Wrangler and free Mega Millions tickets for a year.

The Lottery released a Request for Proposal for Lottery Operations and Services back on December 3, 2013. The largest three vendors in the industry submitted proposals and after a thorough review of each proposal, the Wyoming Lottery awarded the contract to INTRALOT, which scored the highest points. INTRALOT signed a 5-year contract with the Lottery with three, 5-year extension options.

Under the terms of the contract INTRALOT provides on-going services including the supply, installation, maintenance and support of the new lottery Central System and software platforms, terminal network and communications. In addition, INTRALOT provides a field sales staff that recruits and trains retailers and also works with them to enhance their sales.

Scientific Games Appoint Dan Savage Corporate Marketing VP

Takes Leadership Role in Planned Integration

NEW YORK, N.Y. Monopoly Millionaires' Club™ Lottery Game to Make More and More Millionaires

Indiana Joins New Multi-State Lottery with National Television Series Inspired By Iconic Brand

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (August 28, 2014) - Indiana is ready to mint some millionaires!

The Hoosier Lottery will join lotteries across the country in offering a new draw game, MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES' CLUB, that will spread the wealth among players by offering multiple million dollar prizes in conjunction with a Top Prize that is capped at $25 million.

With three different ways to win, the MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES' CLUB game, is planned to go on sale in Indiana on Oct. 19, and is the first game to combine the high-stakes and rich rewards of multi-state lottery gaming with the fun and entertainment of a national television game show featuring players selected from among the lottery's ticket holders who have registered their tickets online or via a smartphone app.

The unique design of the MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES' CLUB lottery game is expected to generate more millionaires than any other game in lottery history. Contestants on the show will play a series of games with a MONOPOLY theme, each of which will offer cash and other prizes valued up to $100,000. Loto-Québec Announce First Quarter Revenues of $853 Million and a Net Profit of $291.2 Million

MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada (August 29, 2014) -- The first quarter of the 2014-2015 fiscal year, Loto-Québec, covering the period from 1 April to 30 June 2014, resulted in products 853.0 million and a comprehensive income of 291.2 million dollars.

These figures are slightly higher than the first quarter of 2013-2014. However, since the initial quarter of the current fiscal year has 6 more days than the first quarter of last year, the data actually reflect decreases of $ 44.3 million and 17.3 million dollars.

All business sectors are affected by a slowdown experienced in recent years in the industry of gambling, especially across Canada. In this context, Loto-Québec is working to boost its entertainment offerings and optimize its resources. These efforts are designed to achieve the target set for 2014-2015, that is to say, a net profit of $ 1.154 billion. This amount is the total obtained in 2013-2014 ($ 1.144 billion), plus an efficiency gain of $ 10 million.

Performance by Sector

The lotteries reported products 419.7 million dollars at the end of the quarter. The absence of very large jackpots has affected both the Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max, whose combined sales decline is estimated at $ 13.1 million. The lower yield of instant lotteries is mainly due to the attractiveness of smaller games offered in collaboration with other provinces. As for online lotteries, net revenues of $ 2.2 million.

Revenues of the casinos, which includes the operations of food and accommodation, are $ 194.8 million, down 3.5% assessed taking into account the additional 6 days. For their part, casino games online raising proceeds of 6.7 million, a significant increase relative to last year.

As for the Video Lottery sector, it presents products 235.0 million, a decrease of 2.4% from 2013 to 2014 taking into account the additional six days of the quarter. Network performance bars and breweries declined somewhat, while the gaming halls in Québec and Trois-Rivières show results on the rise.

Finally, the bingo sector said products of $ 9.4 million, of which $ 3.8 million comes from Kinzo . Ridership in bingo halls network and the number of events have continued to decline as some rooms were closed. For their part, the product of Kinzo are rising because of the greater number of cinemas in operation.

Birthdays, prices and new

June 24 marked both the 20th anniversary of the Casino de Charlevoix and the 5th anniversary of the Casino de Mont-Tremblant, both highlighted by various promotional activities. The Casino de Charlevoix has welcomed its 20 millionth visitor in May, while the gambling house of Mont-Tremblant has attracted over 2.4 million visitors since its opening.

While the plan to revitalize the Casino du Lac-Leamy is ongoing, renovations worth $ 27 million have been made at the Hilton Lac-Leamy. They will conclude in 2015.

Playtech Acquire Aristocrat Lotteries

Strategic acquisition enables world’s leading gaming supplier to expand and diversify its retail and VLT market share in key jurisdictions

LONDON, U.K. (September 2, 2014) -- Playtech, the international designer, developer and licensor of software and services for the online, mobile, TV and land-based gaming industry, has entered into an agreement with global content and systems provider Aristocrat Leisure Limited to acquire Aristocrat Lotteries for €10.5 million in cash, subject to certain adjustments and satisfaction of closing conditions. It is anticipated that closing will occur shortly.

Aristocrat Lotteries is a leading supplier of server-based-gaming and online client server solutions for interactive video terminals in both Norway and Italy. Its TruServ™ platform is well-established and accredited for the Italian market.

Once complete, the acquisition will position Playtech’s land-based operation as one of the leading suppliers of VLT systems in Europe and Latin America, further extending its reach and diversification across key regulated markets. The deal will also enable Playtech’s land-based division to replicate its success in the UK with its Videobet solution, increase market share within the wider global VLT market and create cross-selling opportunities in existing as well as new jurisdictions.

Aristocrat Lotteries is based in Stockholm and is the exclusive server-based gaming provider for Norwegian lottery Norsk Tipping’s VLTs and supplies its system to a major operator in Italy – a key jurisdiction for Playtech. The company has also recently completed a successful pilot project in another well-established regulated European country which, if commercialised, is expected to deliver further revenue opportunities.

Sales for Holiday Millionaire Raffle Start September 5th

TOPEKA, Kansas (September 2, 2014) -- Players excited for a chance to win $1 million won't have to wait as long this year to buy their Holiday Millionaire Raffle tickets. Sales for the 2014 Holiday Millionaire Raffle begin September 5, nearly a month ahead of last year's start date.  The earlier start means the Kansas Lottery will, for the first time, be selling raffle tickets during the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. Players will also be able to purchase raffle tickets at any other Kansas Lottery retail location starting September 5.

This is the sixth year for the always-popular Holiday Millionaire Raffle, which has sold out every year.  In addition to the $1 million top prize, there are more than 7,500 other prizes!  Only 175,000 Holiday Millionaire Raffle tickets will be sold at $20 each. It's important to remember - when they're gone, they're gone!

Players have a strong incentive to purchase tickets early.  The Kansas Lottery is offering Early Bird drawings, giving players who purchase tickets early a chance to win $10,000 in each drawing.  Two $10,000 winning numbers will be drawn in each of five Early Bird drawings to be held October 12, 19 and 26, and November 2 and 9.

Again this year, the Holiday Millionaire Raffle is loaded with $50 Bonus Cash prizes. Thousands of players will automatically win a $50 Bonus Cash prize at the time they purchase their Holiday Millionaire Raffle tickets.  Bonus tickets will be issued throughout the state and throughout the run of the game.

Tickets winning a $50 bonus will include a ticket message on the ticket that says: "You have won a $50 bonus cash prize! Redeem with store clerk at any Kansas Lottery retailer!"  Each Bonus Cash ticket will also have a special pig symbol on the ticket to identify it, and special music will play when a Bonus Cash ticket is produced.

Except for the Early Bird winners and the $50 Bonus Cash Prize winners, all winning tickets will be drawn in the grand prize drawing December 31, 2014.  There are a total of 7,561 prizes in this year's raffle!  Here's what they are:

Lottery Benefits State Operations by Recouping Nearly $1 million in Unpaid Taxes and Child Support Payments

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (September 2, 2014) -- In its five years of operation, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has raised nearly a half-billion dollars in scholarships to help 135,000 Arkansas students attend in-state public and private colleges and universities.  But thanks to often-forgotten provision of the Arkansas Code, the Lottery has also benefited state operations by recouping nearly $1 million in unpaid taxes and child support payments.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Act of 2009 requires the Lottery to “cooperate in identifying debtors who owe money to the state”, specifically prize winners with unpaid state taxes or child support payments.  Since awarding its first prize on September 28, 2009, up to July 31, 2014, the Lottery has collected $688,243.84 in unpaid taxes, subsequently transferred to the Department of Finance and Administration.  In the same period, $296,382.22  was collected and transferred to the Office of Child Support Enforcement.  Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Director Bishop Woosley expects the Lottery will easily surpass $1 million in total recouped funds by 2015.

We’re delighted to play even a small part in recovering these funds,” Woosley said Tuesday.  “The General Assembly recognized that prize payments offered an opportunity to settle debts that ultimately burden the taxpayers of Arkansas and custodial parents who depend on their child support.  We like being part of the solution.”

TRENTON, New Jersey (August 29, 2014) - New Jersey Lottery Pick-4 game players will have an exciting opportunity for a second chance to win with one ticket during the Green Ball Double Draw promotion. New Mexico Lottery Launch Four New Scratchers™

$20 Game Offers $5 Million in Prizes

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (September 3, 2014) -- On Super Tuesday, the New Mexico Lottery’s latest Scratchers™ include a $20 game packed with $5 million in prizes.

In addition to top prizes of $250,000, the “Emerald 7s & Ruby 7s” Scratcher features $3.5 million in prizes ranging between $50 and $500.  The game’s odds of winning are 1 in 3.52. 

Karla Wilkinson, New Mexico Lottery product director, said the $20 game is designed to create lots of winning experiences that can be paid in the very stores where players bought their tickets.

Winning is always exciting for our players, but it’s even more exciting when they can collect their prizes right away,” she said.

New Mexico Lottery prizes between $1 and $600 can be claimed in stores, depending on cash on hand.  Larger prizes must be claimed through lottery headquarters.

Weaknesses Persist in Underage Gambling Controls

LONDON, U.K. (September 2, 2014) -- The latest round of underage gambling test purchasing conducted by local authorities in partnership with the Commission continues to demonstrate that many operators have inadequate controls for preventing underage gambling.

In 20 out of 40 tests[1] of adult gaming centres and betting shops, a supervised test purchaser under the age of 18 was allowed to play on a gaming machine and leave the premises without being challenged to prove their age. A number of tests were also conducted at licensed family entertainment centres and at bingo premises that had been converted from arcades[2], with similar weaknesses being found.

Licensees that did not challenge a test purchaser before they played a gaming machine have been warned by local authorities that failure to improve could lead to formal regulatory action being taken, and many licensees have been required to submit action plans to their local authority detailing how the weaknesses in their underage gambling controls will be remedied.

Some licensees have so far introduced a range of measures in response, for example improved training schemes for their employees; the employment of third-parties to conduct quarterly test purchases of their premises; have re-sited CCTV to provide employees with better sight of customers entering the premises; or are introducing physical barriers to age-restricted areas at times where they cannot be monitored.

However, local authorities are reminding the operators that if they fail to voluntarily deliver improvements, or if their gambling premises fail a further test purchase, then they may be subject to a review of their premises licence which could culminate in the imposition of stricter licence conditions or the suspension or revocation of their premises licence.

Reasons for failures

The results from these test purchase exercises also show that the causes of such failures to challenge testers before they gambled are similar to those uncovered by the 2013 exercise. Some staff members appeared to be unaware of the presence of the young person, either being engaged in other duties at the time or simply not paying attention. In one test, there were no staff present on the premises. On other occasions, staff appeared to be unwilling to challenge the tester, either lacking confidence in making a challenge or having little regard for their responsibilities to prevent underage gambling. Local authorities are seeking remedial action from licensees in such instances.

Conversely, early challenges were made in tests where the layout of the premises allowed staff to supervise customers entering the premises, or where staff members were positioned close to the entrance; but only when staff members were also vigilant in executing their responsibilities.

Next steps

The Commission has previously stated that it will consider mandating new measures to improve the level of protection offered to children and young people, and is currently consulting on strengthening its Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice.

These latest test purchase results provide further evidence that controls need to be strengthened, in the key areas covered in the consultation; such as line of sight, premises layout, and staff training. The consultation launched on 7 August 2014 and will close on 31 October 2014.

The Commission will continue to work with local authorities to test gambling operators as part of a rolling programme of testing. Individual operators may be putting their livelihoods at risk if they fail to prevent access to gambling by children and young people and regulatory action is taken by a local authority or the Commission.

 

[1] The tests took place across a number of local authority areas in England during the Easter and summer holiday periods of 2014.
