GTECH’s MarginMaker™ Platform Selected by Betfred to Support Australian Sports Betting Launch

Operator extends 10-year primary supplier relationship with GTECH to launch sports betting on industry-leading MarginMaker platform

LONDON U.K. (July 9, 2014) -- GTECH has announced that it has been selected to provide the technology platform to support Betfred’s launch of its new Australian interactive sports betting operation.

GTECH’s industry-leading MarginMaker™ platform supported the launch of Betfred’s sportsbook product in May 2014. The initial sports betting launch included the mobile sportsbook, with online and racebook launches to follow in the coming months.

GTECH has been the primary supplier to Betfred in the U.K. for more than 10 years. Betfred established operations in Sydney and Darwin under a Northern Territory Gaming Commission license.

INTRALOT Announce Seven Year Extension Agreement with Magnum Corporation

ATHENS. Greece (July 7, 2014) -- INTRALOT has signed an extension of its Agreement with Magnum Corporation Sdn. Berhad, the leading gaming company in Malaysia, for a further seven (7) years with an option of extending it for another two (2) years. The agreement concerns the procurement, installation and support of an advanced, integrated lottery system to support up to 2,450 gaming terminals, INTRALOT’s core operating system LOTOS™ O/S, and an On-line Gaming Computer System, including both the games software and its state-of-the-art new generation of Photon terminals.

In addition to the central system, INTRALOT will also provide service functions, such as customer and marketing support, and all the necessary services for the operation and maintenance of the Central System during the seven (7) years of the extended agreement. The implementation of the project will begin immediately and the commercial operation is estimated to start in mid 2015.

SG Gaming Extends JenningsBet Agreement to 2018

LONDON, U.K. (July 9th, 2014) --  SG Gaming, a division of Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS), announced today that it has extended its agreement with JenningsBet, the independent bookmaker. The four-year deal lengthens the 14-year partnership between the two companies until July 2018.

As part of the extension, the entire JenningsBet estate will receive SG Gaming’s Infinity® terminals, which offers JenningsBet customers an enhanced playing experience through its 21.5” HD screen, an upgraded sound system, and an interactive video button panel. SG Gaming was the first machines provider to introduce a video button panel into the UK Licensed Betting Office sector two years ago.

The ongoing partnership means JenningsBet will continue to offer customers access to content developed by SG Gaming’s in-house development team, as well as new titles from its sister company, WMS Gaming, ultimately providing customers a leading gaming machine offer. The SG Connect division of SG Gaming, a field-based services division which provides end-to-end support service, will continue to provide self-service betting terminals to the JenningsBet estate.

Germany

In Germany, the final state lottery (Saarland) went live last week successfully completing the establishment phase ahead of schedule. Connections have now been established to all 16 German state lotteries giving the Company’s website, www.jumbolotto.de, access to the maximum number of potential customers from the entire German population of 80 million people.

Efforts have now shifted to the customer acquisition phase with a goal of signing up enough customers to generate sufficient sales to cover fixed costs excluding marketing. This will be followed by the next goal of generating sufficient sales to cover all costs including marketing at which point the business will be cash flow positive. With the final state only recently connected, it is too early to release marketing results at this time.

Jumbo is now the only company in Germany with its own in-house developed software platform connected to all 16 states in Germany. This is an important milestone and allows the marketing team to compete aggressively with other operators in the Germany online lottery market”, said Mr Mike Veverka, CEO of Jumbo Interactive Limited.

Australia

In Australia, whilst Group Total Transaction Value (‘TTV’) is expected to be close to FY13 levels, the Company’s website, www.ozlotteries.com, continued its unbroken run of sales growth since relaunch in 2005 with 4% growth in FY14 over FY13. This growth rate is lower than in previous years due to the higher base from extraordinary jackpots in FY13 that did not occur in FY14.

FY13 was a remarkable year in terms of record jackpots which drove annual growth to an enormous 38% over the previous year. It was always going to be a struggle for FY14 to beat that year without the same record jackpots, however the continued growth in customer accounts has helped us to maintain our unbroken run of continued growth in www.ozlotteries.com”, said Mr Mike Veverka.

The number of customer accounts grew 9.6% over FY14 to 1.72 million accounts.

This represents an additional 80,000 customer accounts in the second half compared to 70,000 in the first half, clearly demonstrating the continued growth in the online lottery industry.

The 30 June 2014 financial results are expected to be approximately slightly less

than FY13 for both TTV and net profit after tax.

Mexico

Relating to Mexico, management has decided to fair value its current $2.5 million investment in Sorteo Games at zero due to uncertainty with regards to the position of that company. This will not affect the net profit after tax of Jumbo as it will be recognised in other comprehensive income but will affect shareholder’s equity accordingly. Notwithstanding this, for the Jumbo group both the financial and cash positions remain sound.

However Jumbo has made significant progress in the launch of its Mexican lottery website www.jumbolotto.mx via alternate channels.

Mexico still represents an enormous opportunity for Jumbo, despite the initial setbacks. Significant progress has been made in reaching our ultimate goal of launching our Mexican lottery website to a population of 118 million people”, said Mr Mike Veverka.

In November 2012, Jumbo announced a deal in Mexico with a partner (Sorteo Games) designed to give Jumbo access to the Mexican online lottery market. Jumbo completed the development of www.jumbomexico.mx and expected to begin selling official Mexican lottery tickets around mid-2013, however delays arose outside of the Company’s control. In March 2014 Jumbo terminated its operational agreements with Sorteo Games and began considering alternative options. Jumbo is still hopeful of launching the website in FY15.

Florida Lottery Posts Another Record-Breaking Sales Year

For the past three years, the Florida Lottery has increased sales by hundreds of millions of dollars, resulting in the highest annual contribution to education in Lottery history.

Lotterywest Contributes $271.3m to Community

  • Lotterywest achieved sales of $797million in 2013-14
  • $271.3million has been raised for the Western Australian community
  • Lotterywest delivered $446.9 million worth of prizes to winners

 

PERTH, Western Australia (July 4, 2014) -- Lotterywest contributed a total of $271.3million in the 2013-14 financial year to thousands of Western Australian organisations and community groups Premier Colin Barnett announced today.

Mr Barnett said in the past year Lotterywest contributed $117.4million to the State’s hospitals, $14.7million to arts organisations and $14.7million to sport and recreational organisations. This was in addition to a total of $124.5million given by Lotterywest in direct grants to 1197 community and charitable organisations in the past year.

It is very pleasing to see that both small and large organisations receive Lotterywest Grants,” the Premier said.

Grants in the past year ranged from $1,000 to the Busselton Camera Club to help them buy photography equipment for community workshops through to multimillion dollar grants that went to big organisations such as Foodbank which received a grant of $2million towards a new warehouse. This will give Foodbank an even greater ability in the future to help those most in need in our community.”

The Premier said the State Government had seen first hand the impressive work being undertaken by not-for-profit and community organisations throughout the State which have been supported by Lotterywest Grants.

One of the most significant projects to receive Lotterywest funding in the past financial year is the new Western Australian Neuroscience Research Institute which will house a number of different organisations,” Mr Barnett said.

Three Lotterywest grants of $2.4million each were given to the McCusker Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, the Australian Neuromuscular Research Institute and to Ear Science Institute Australia to help fund parts of the construction and fit-out of the Neuroscience Research Institute building.

This collaborative project will give these organisations fantastic new facilities where they can work together and share knowledge about how best to help those with neurological conditions. The Institute will work with similar institutes in other Australian States and internationally,” Mr Barnett said.

Mr Barnett thanked the Lotterywest Chairman, John Atkins, the Board and staff for their work over the past year and acknowledged the contribution of the Lotterywest retail network who achieved sales of $797million in 2013-14.

I particularly express my appreciation to the more that 500 small business operators who play a critical role on the frontline selling Lotterywest games,” the Premier said.

They provide excellent service to customers and play a significant role in raising these much-needed funds for the community. They also get to celebrate when they sell a winning ticket.”

Many local players also had the thrill of winning the big prize in the past year, with 88 Western Australians winning Division One prizes worth a total of $160million. The total prize pool won by locals totalled $446.9 million in 2013-14.

Lotterywest is the only lottery in Australia where proceeds are distributed directly to the community. For every dollar West Australians spend on their favourite Lotterywest games, 33 cents is returned to benefit the community.

Camping & Boating Gear, Cash Prizes Up for Grabs in Lottery's 'Sun Time Fun Time' Promo

Summer Promotion Runs through Sept. 2

DES MOINES, Iowa (July 7, 2014) -- Iowa Lottery players have the chance to win boats, camping gear and cash prizes in the lottery's summer promotion that began Monday.

Thirteen prizes of outdoor fun and cash valued at nearly $50,000 are up for grabs in the "Sun Time Fun Time" promotion. Lottery players can enter the promotion using nonwinning tickets from four new X-themed instant-scratch games that began sales Monday to coincide with the promotion's start.

The "5X," "10X®," "15X" and "20X" scratch games offer top prizes from $5,000 up to $50,000 respectively, and nonwinning tickets in the games can be entered in the promotion from noon Monday through noon Sept. 2. Each game corresponds with a different prize level in the promotion. For example, nonwinning tickets in the $1 5X game can be used as entries into the drawing for 10 prizes of $500, while nonwinning tickets in the $5 20X game can be used as entries into the drawing for a pontoon boat prize package.

Here are the tickets you can enter and the prizes you could win:

  • $1 5X = chance to win one of 10 prizes of $500
  • $2 10X = chance to win a tent camper prize package valued at more than $11,000 (1 winner).
  • $3 15X = chance to win a fishing boat prize package valued at more than $15,000 (1 winner).
  • $5 20X = chance to win a pontoon boat prize package valued at more than $21,000 (1 winner).

To enter the promotion, Iowa Lottery players must join or already be members of the lottery's free VIP Club. On the Sun Time Fun Time page at www.ialotteryvip.com, players will be asked to enter the 10-digit entry number from the front of a nonwinning ticket in one of the designated games, along with the ticket number from the back. The lottery will hold the promotion's drawings on September 4.

State and federal taxes for the prize packages also will be paid. Complete rules are available on the lottery website at www.ialottery.com and drawing results also will be posted there.

A few requirements to keep in mind

You can only enter the promotion on the lottery's VIP Club website. Hand-delivered or mailed entries will not be accepted.

You can use each ticket only once as an eligible entry.

Players may enter up to 40 nonwinning holiday scratch tickets per day.

And, while you can enter multiple times, you can win only one prize per category.

Arvato Systems Creates IT Platform for the German State Lottery Association

MUNICH / GÜTERSLOH, Germany (July 7, 2014) -- As part of a public tendering process, arvato Systems was awarded the contract for developing a customer management system (CMS) for the German State Lottery Association. Arvato Systems will build an IT platform for the association within the context of developing a whole new business model. The lottery association’s innovative product will premiere in the first half of 2015.

The German State Lottery Association is the state-run operator of prize-category lotteries and gambling operations in Germany. The innovative new lottery product is the impetus for an expanded web presence for the German market in 2015.

arvato Systems designed the association's new customer management system based on SAP ERP and SAP CRM. Additional customer management systems (CMS) and web portal systems have also been configured. “One of the particular challenges within the context of this project has been building a high-volume B2C system for the lottery association, which had previously been running a pure B2B business and marketing model,” noted Max Ackermann, Senior Manager for SAP Consulting at arvato Systems.

NH Lottery’s 50 Years Celebration Continues by Honouring Former Keene Representative Larry Pickett and Series of State-Wide Events

Lottery events in July feature prizes, giveaways, promotions and events; Representative Pickett to be remembered during Keene Swamp Bats game on July 25

CONCORD, New Hampshire (July 9, 2014) -- New Hampshire Lottery officials know that the sole reason the Lottery exists and is so successful today in delivering needed funding for education, is due to the tireless efforts of former Keene State Representative Laurence “Larry” Pickett. The Lottery will honor Pickett’s legacy on Friday, July 25, during “Larry Pickett Night” at the Keene Swamp Bats baseball game. Further, the Lottery will also host a series of customer appreciation events, promotions and giveaways in July as it continues its 50 years celebration.

Between 1952 and 1963, Representative Pickett was determined to make sure legislation passed making New Hampshire the first state with a legal, state-run lottery,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission. “We are humbled to pay tribute to Representative Pickett, while continuing the Lottery’s 50 years celebration. We know that it was only with Representative Pickett’s relentless efforts that we can say today, we invented lucky!

Along with the dedication, McIntyre will throw out the first pitch and the Keene High School a cappella group, Momentum, will sing the National Anthem prior to the game. The Keene Swamp Bats, who play at Alumni Field in Keene, play in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. During Larry Pickett Night on July 25, the Swamp Bats will take on the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. The first 200 attendees (18 years of age and older) receive a free scratch ticket.

While the Lottery has distributed $3.2 billion in prizes and delivered more than $1.6 billion to education in New Hampshire during the past 50 years, its origins were controversial. Lottery supporters faced criticism from the media and the federal government as they worked to officially open the Lottery’s doors. As the New Hampshire Lottery celebrates its 50 years milestone, it looks back on Pickett’s persistent and determined lobbying efforts—which spanned 10 years—to create a Lottery system that provides fun and exciting games for players, and a growing revenue stream for education.

Ever since Governor John King signed legislation in 1964 making it the first state-run lottery, the New Hampshire Lottery has been all about winning—just as Representative Pickett envisioned,” McIntyre said. “As we look back on the Lottery’s history this year, we also want to give back to our players who have been so good to us. With a series of events, promotions and giveaways throughout this month, we are saying thanks to our players.  So come out and play this July and hopefully you will get lucky!”

Tennessee Jackpot Lottery Winner to Share the Joy

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (July 3, 2014) -- After what seemed like an eternity but what was in fact a mere 22 days, the winner of the largest jackpot in Tennessee Lottery history came forward today to claim his $259.8 million Powerball prize won from the drawing held June 11.

Amid TV cameras and cheers from an enthusiastic crowd of well-wishers at Lottery headquarters in Nashville, Knoxville native Roy Cockrum, 58, stood for pictures with Lottery President and CEO Rebecca Hargrove and the traditional oversized winner’s “check” after presenting his winning ticket earlier to Lottery officials.

According to Roy Cockrum, the realization that he had won the jackpot “literally knocked me to my knees. My prayer was simple—‘Lord have Mercy’! But life goes on, so I picked myself up, put the winning ticket in my wallet and went to pick up my mother.” He added that soon thereafter, he sought financial counsel on how best to handle his windfall.

Roy Cockrum chose to receive the prize as a lump-sum rather than an annuitized payment. The cash value of the $259.8 million jackpot is $153.5 million.

We often say the Lottery offers ‘Game Changing Fun,’ and never was that more true than in the case of Roy Cockrum,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation. “As we’ve waited for this day, Tennesseans across the state have enjoyed imagining what they would do if they were the lucky winner. Now we have had the chance to meet Mr. Cockrum and we couldn’t be more pleased for him, his family, and all the good works he proposes going forward. Of course, all of us at the Lottery are especially grateful for how Powerball and our other games drive funding for the education programs that assist so many students across the state.”

In his statement, Mr. Cockrum said he was born and raised in Knoxville, attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, then spent more than 20 years working as an actor and stage manager for theater and television. He later entered an Episcopal religious order in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he was known as Brother Roy. “I really believe the best way to prepare for this tsunami of cash has been to live under a vow of poverty for a number of years,” Mr. Cockrum said. “It gives great perspective.”

Mr. Cockrum returned to Knoxville in 2009 to take care of his parents. He is self-employed.

Regarding how he intends to make use of his winnings, Mr. Cockrum said he would set aside enough to create his “pension fund,” make “large gifts to a long list of charities,” and in keeping with his background in theater, devote the majority of the prize to a foundation he is creating to “support performing arts organizations around the country.”

I am very excited to work on this project with longtime friends experienced in supporting the arts in this way,” he added.

According to data from the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation, the entity that administers Lottery-funded programs, more than 800,000 grants and scholarships to in-state education institutions have been earned by deserving students since the Lottery’s inception in 2004, including more than 100,000 awards during the current academic year alone. Lottery funds are also used to support other education-related activities, including after-school programs implemented in more than 225 sites across the state, and an ongoing initiative to make schools more energy efficient.

Today’s announcement closely followed a recent event to award a retailer bonus of $25,000 to the Knoxville Kroger on Clinton Hwy. that sold the winning ticket. Expressing its commitment to supporting the community, Kroger chose to divide the funds equally among five local charities: Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, Cystic Fibrosis, Children's Hospital, the Teacher's Supply Depot and Love Kitchen.
