GTECH S.P.A. To Redeem Guaranteed Notes Due 2016 and Provides Update Of Consent Solicitation With Respect To Guaranteed Notes Due 2018 And 2020

ROME (ITALY) and PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (U.S.) – (November 7, 2014) -- GTECH S.p.A. intends to redeem its €750,000,000 5.375% Guaranteed Notes due December 5, 2016 (ISIN: XS0471074822) (the "2016 Notes") on December 8, 2014 (the "Redemption Date").  The redemption price of the 2016 Notes will equal the sum of the then current values of the remaining scheduled payments of principal and interest of the 2016 Notes as of the Redemption Date discounted to the Redemption Date at a rate equal to the average annual yield to maturity of a reference German Bund plus 0.50% and interest accrued on the 2016 Notes to the Redemption Date.  GTECH will use the proceeds of a utilization under its long-term committed revolving credit facility to fund the redemption price of the 2016 Notes.

GTECH also announced that holders holding 87% of GTECH's €500,000,000 5.375% Guaranteed Notes due February 2, 2018 (ISIN: XS0564487568) and holders holding 91% of GTECH's €500,000,000 3.500% Guaranteed Notes due March 5, 2020 (ISIN: XS0860855930) have as at the November 6, 2014 early voting deadline submitted instructions in favour of the consent solicitation commenced by GTECH on October 23, 2014.  Further details regarding the consent solicitation and the related noteholders’ meetings to be held in connection with the consent solicitation are set out in the Consent Solicitation Memorandum dated October 23, 2014.

INTRALOT Announce 9M2014 Financial Results Strong Increase Of Revenues Stable Operational Profits

ATHENS, Greece (November 10, 2014) -- INTRALOT Group today announces its financial results for the nine-month period ending September 30th 2014, prepared in accordance with IFRS.

In 9M14 INTRALOT’s Consolidated Revenues grew by 23.1%, to €1,329.5m, an increase of €249.5m. Net of a negative FX impact of €80.9m, revenues reached €1,410.4m, posting an increase of 30.6% y-o-y in 9M 2014.

EBITDA decreased by 8.2%, to €131.7m. Net of a negative FX impact of €11.6m, EBITDA reached €143.2m in 9M 2014, a marginal decrease of 0.2% y-o-y. EBIT decreased by 13.3%, to €66.2m and was affected by €9.8m of negative FX charges. EBIT net of FX charges reached €76.1m, posting a decrease of 0.5% y-o-y in 9M 2014. EBT decreased by 32.1%, to €27.3m. On an adjusted for FX-basis, EBT would have reached €38.0m, posting a decrease of 5.3% y-o-y in 9M 2014. Net profit for the period was shaped at a negative €32.1m.

Cash Flow from Operations reached €45.1m in the 9M 2014 period, remaining largely unchanged compared to the same period of 2013 (€45.5m). Net Debt in the 9M 2014 period was shaped at €401.3m, remaining at the levels of the 6M 2014 period (€401.1 m), while Capex for the 9M 2014 period reached €42.8m.

Concerning the parent company, Revenues for the period decreased by 37.3%, to €64.5m. EBITDA decreased by 64.8% to €15.0m from €42.7m in 9M 2013, while Earnings After Taxes (EAT) decreased to €-7.4m from €30.8m in 9M 2013.

WLS2014 – Awards for Excellence in Advertising and Responsible Gaming

The WLA Advertising Awards 2014

BASEL, Switzerland (November 6, 2014) -- The WLA Advertising Awards, which are presented every two years at the biennial World Lottery Summit (WLS) have become a lottery institution. They acknowledge and promote best practice in lottery industry advertising and honor the most outstanding advertisements from the global lottery community. This year, the awards spanned three categories plus the Grand Global Advertising Award.

There were almost 80 entries for the WLA Advertising Awards, which were shortlisted by a panel of four advertising and communications professionals. The panel included Sandra Harrison, Tribe Communication advertising and web agency; Osvaldo Adinolfi, Senior Vice President Marketing and Creative Director Edelman; Roberto Bruno, CEO Y&R Roma, Executive Vice President Y&R Italia; and Giancarlo Perrotta, Marketing Director Instant Lotteries GTECH Italia.

The entries were judged by the panel primarily on their impact and effectiveness, information content, design, and creativity. They were further judged for their ability to gain and maintain the viewer’s attention, and their ability to change the viewer’s perception.

The shortlisted submissions for each category were screened and judged by the delegates on the morning of Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in a special Interactive Advertising Awards Session. The panel reconvened and selected the overall winner of the WLA Grand Global Advertising Awards from the three winning advertisements.

The Individual Category Winners

The categories for the WLA Advertising Awards 2014 and the winners for each category were:

  • Best Product Advertising broadcast on TV / Cinema (numbers games, sports betting and instant games): Won by Svenska Spel from Sweden with the entry titled: Eurojackpot - The Castle.
    (This entry also won the Grand Global Advertising Award – see quote below)
  • Best New Media Advertising (ads created for distribution via Internet, social media, e-mail, mobile phones etc.): Won by Norsk Tipping from Norway with the entry titled: Spread Happiness – Across the Nation

 

Mr. Torbjørn Almlid, CEO of Norsk Tipping, said “Although we would have preferred to also win the first category as we had two finalists, we are happy to win a prize in the social media category as this is a growing channel.”

• Best Corporate (TV/cinema ads that profile the organization): Won by Jogos Santa Casa from Portugal with the entry titled: The Right to Dream

This prize is a recognition of our work and it encourages Santa Casa and its Gaming Department to keep on working on improving our efforts to serve our community as it gives those efforts even more credibility.”

The Grand Global Advertising Award Winner

Won by: Svenska Spel from Sweden with the entry titled: Eurojackpot - The Castle

WLA Responsible Gaming Awards 2014

Doing the right thing for players and the broader community has made Corporate Social Responsibility, specifically the Responsible Gaming Principles and Framework, a priority for the World Lottery Association (WLA).

In order to further promote the best practices in the industry, the WLA honors Best Responsible Gaming Programs by its members. For this year’s World Lottery Summit in Rome, awards were given for:

  • Best Overall Responsible Gaming Program
  • Best Innovation in Responsible Gaming Program
  • Best Emerging Responsible Gaming Program

 

The WLA Responsible Gaming Awards for 2014 were presented by Maria Sillanpaa, Chair of the WLA Responsible Gaming Independent Assessment Panel during the General Meeting which was held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014.

The winner of the Best Overall Responsible Gaming Program Award was Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Canada.

The first ever winner of this year’s new award for Best Innovation in Responsible Gaming went out to Atlantic Lottery, Canada.

The Best Emerging Responsible Gaming Program went to Nanum Lotto, South Korea

At the 2008 WLA Convention and Trade Show in Rhodes, Greece, the WLA began honoring the lottery industry's most outstanding achievements in the area of responsible gaming through the WLA Responsible Gaming Awards. Since then, participating WLA member lotteries have been honored every two years at the WLA's biennial convention.

Previous WLA Responsible Gaming Awards held in 2008, 2010 and 2012, were open to WLA RGF level 4 certified members only. In order to further promote excellence and innovation in the lottery industry, the WLA redesigned the competition for the 2014 award, to also include and recognize the commitment and achievements of member lotteries certified to WLA RGF levels 2 and 3.

In addition to the Best Overall Responsible Gaming Program Award, which aims to recognize excellence in responsible gaming and reward the lottery with the best overall program at WLA RGF level 4, two new award categories were created for the 2014 competition. The Best Innovation in Responsible Gaming Award, aims to recognize members, certified to WLA RGF level4, showcasing best practices and innovation in the delivery of an element of their responsible gaming program or a specific initiative (for example the use of resources or tools). The Best Emerging Responsible Gaming Program recognise members, at level 2 or 3, whose plans clearly demonstrate commitment to a vision and plan that will realise a world class program. The Independent Assessment Panel selected a winner from level 2 and 3 certifications that have been awarded in the last 3 years.

Owing to the changes in the competition, submissions for the 2014 WLA Responsible Gaming Awards were overwhelming. We received a great number of superb entries both for the Best Overall category, as well as the new submission category Best Innovation in Responsible Gaming. The winners of each submission category were announced during the WLA General Meeting, which was held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014.

The winners of the previous WLA Responsible Gaming Awards are:

  • 2008: Svenska Spel
  • 2010: British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC)
  • 2012: Camelot UK Lotteries Limited

 

As winner of the 2012 competition Camelot UK Lotteries Limited was excluded from the competition for the Best Overall category of the 2014 awards.

New Mexico Lottery Tests Ability to Offer Ad Space on Drawing Game Tickets

Gildan New Mexico Bowl Advertises Discount to Football Fans

ALBUQUERQUE. New Mexico (November 12, 2014) --The New Mexico Lottery today begins testing its ability to offer advertising space on drawing game tickets. 

The pilot advertiser is the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, New Mexico’s annual college football bowl game owned and operated by ESPN Events, a subsidiary of ESPN.

Through Dec. 12, the bowl will advertise a $10 discount on the purchase of one seat for the Dec. 20 game to be played at University Stadium in Albuquerque.  The discount will be printed on lottery game tickets in the form of a code that will be accepted on purchases made by phone at 505-925-5626 or in person at the UNM box office or online at www.gildannewmexicobowl.com.

New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden said lottery tickets have the potential to be a great advertising platform.

Players keep their lottery tickets and they look at them again and again, which for advertisers accomplishes both reach and frequency,” Barden said.  “If our pilot is successful and we can secure a roster of paying advertisers, we will be able to give more money to Legislative Lottery Scholarships.”

The Gildan New Mexico Bowl advertisement will be printed on tickets sold for Powerball®, Mega Millions®, Hot Lotto®, Roadrunner Cash® and Pick 3®.

We are very pleased to be participating in the lottery’s trial,” said Jeff Siembieda, executive

director of ESPN’s Gildan New Mexico Bowl.  “Both our brands represent fun and exciting

entertainment, and since many football fans are also lottery players, a lottery ticket is a logical place for us to reach our audience and offer a great incentive.”  

Barden said the lottery plans to work with two or three additional advertisers as part of the pilot, which is scheduled to run through the first quarter of 2015.

Millionaire Raffle Returns

MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania (November 13, 2014) -- Ticket sales begin Nov. 14 for the latest edition of Millionaire Raffle, offering the Pennsylvania Lottery’s best odds of winning a $1 million prize. This limited-time game features 6,000 cash prizes totaling more than $5 million.

Tickets are available until 5 p.m. on the drawing date, Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, or until sold out. All previous Millionaire Raffle games have sold out.

Each ticket features a unique, eight-digit number issued sequentially as tickets are sold across the state. The first ticket sold is number 00000001, and the final ticket sold is number 00500000.

To be considered a winning ticket, the number on a Millionaire Raffle ticket must exactly match a winning number selected in the drawing, and all digits must appear in the same sequence as the winning number.

Winning Millionaire Raffle numbers will be randomly selected on Jan. 3. The Lottery’s live drawing show at 6:59 p.m. will televise the selection of four $1 million, top-prize ticket numbers and four $100,000, second-prize ticket numbers.

The remaining 100 winning numbers for prizes of $1,000 each and 5,892 winning numbers for prizes of $100 each also will be selected, but will not be televised live due to time constraints. In total, 6,000 prizes worth $5,089,200 will be awarded.

Core profit up 21 Percent

The Amount Staked from sports betting reached EUR 480 million in the first nine months of 2014, a 21.8% improvement on the first nine months of 2013. The Amounts Staked on lottery betting in the first nine months of 2014 totalled EUR 11.6 million, a 4.4% y-o-y increase.

In the first nine months of 2014, the total Gross Win reached EUR 97.2 million, an increase of 16.6% compared to the first nine months of 2013.

The Gross Win from sports betting was EUR 91.9 million, a 17.8% increase y-o-y.  Of this figure the Gross Win from on-line betting in the first nine months of 2014 increased to EUR 48.4 million, a substantial gain of 33.9% over the same period of 2013. The Gross Win from retail betting in the first nine months of 2014 amounted to EUR 43.5 million, a modest y-o-y growth of 3.8%.

In the first nine months of 2014, the Gross Win from the lottery business was EUR 5.2 million, a 0.7% decline over the same period of last year.

In the first nine months of 2014, total EBITDA increased to EUR 22 million, a 21.1% growth over the same period of last year. Of this, sports betting EBITDA represented EUR 21.9 million, up 18.7% y-o-y and the lottery EBITDA equalled to EUR 84 thousand, compared with a loss of EUR 300 thousand in first nine months of 2013.

LGA Announce 25% Increase in the Number of Gambling Licences Issued in 2014

MALTA (November 6, 2014) -- The Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) has announced its interim results covering the six months ended 30 June 2014, during a Press Conference held at the Hilton Hotel, on Thursday November 6, 2014.

The LGA announced that the number of licences issued in 2014 went up by 25% to 401 when compared to 321 in 2013. The number of registered companies also went up by 17% to 258 when compared to 220 in 2013, whilst total revenue went up by 1.3% when compared to same period of last year. At the same time license processing time has been reduced by 50%, from an average of 5 months to an average of 2.5 months.

I am satisfied with what the LGA has achieved so far both in terms of financial and regulatory performance,” said Joseph Cuschieri, Executive Chairman of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority.

Mr. Cuschieri continued his address by highlighting other initiatives taking place at the LGA, with major focus on the regulatory overhaul which will see the launch of a new innovative and cutting edge legal framework, towards the end of next year.

He also underscored the Authority’s office relocation to Smart City Malta, the market repositioning program and also other activities related to the EU and international fora. Finally LGA’s Executive Chairman also highlighted LGA’s latest consultation document on Cloud Solutions, which is available online on www.lga.org.mt.

Dr Herrera was next to address the press, and he spoke about the importance of having a skilled labour force. “We need to be more competitive and have a stronger workforce” he said, and stressed the need for more people to widen their technical knowledge and be employed within the gaming industry.

“A survey carried out in 2013 shows that 77% of foreign companies do not find enough Maltese workers that have the necessary skills to work in this sector.

Dr Hererra explained how the launch of the Gaming Academy in the first quarter of next year, is set to be one of the steps taken by the Authority that will help to increase employment rates in Malta in this sector.

Singapore Pools Wins Bid to Host World Lottery Summit 2016

SINGAPORE (November 7, 2014) --  Singapore Pools has won the coveted bid for Singapore to be the host city for the next World Lottery Summit (WLS), an international convention and exhibition that will bring together World Lottery Association (WLA) members from more than 80 countries across six continents. The week-long trade event will be held from 6 to 9 November 2016 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

The selection of Singapore as the WLS 2016 venue in Asia Pacific was announced at this year’s convention held in Rome, Italy, during the closing dinner on 5 November 2014. This key members-only event for the global lottery community is held once every two years in a different region in fair rotation, for member lotteries comprising government-owned and licensed operators to gather and exchange insights on emerging issues and best practices in the industry.

Senet Hands Creative Account To The Corner

LONDON, UK (November 7, 2014) -- The Senet Group, the new body set up by some of the biggest bookmakers in the country, has picked The Corner to create a responsible gambling campaign after a competitive pitch.

The Corner beat Grey London and Karmarama to win the business in a process handled by Oystercatchers. It will create a TV-led campaign to break in early 2015.

In addition to handling the creative account, The Corner will oversee Senet’s media planning and buying through its new media unit, Rumour, which will work in partnership with UM London.

Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and William Hill formed Senet to produce responsible gambling initiatives as pressure mounts for the Government to tighten regulation on the industry. Other bookmakers are expected to join the group.

In September, the Advertising Standards Authority banned a campaign that Ladbrokes had called the UK’s first responsible ad campaign for condoning an “irresponsible attitude towards gambling”.

Senet is The Corner’s fourth new-business win in two months. The agency has also landed accounts from Omega Pharma and Historic Royal Palaces, as well as a one-off project for BMW.

DUSSELDORF, Germany (November 10, 2014) -- In Q3 of 2014, the listed online sports betting and online gaming provider succeeded in surpassing the successes of the previous quarters and again increased the awareness of the bet-at-home.com brand through effective advertising campaigns surrounding the Football World Cup in Brazil.

Above average earnings growth

In the reporting period, the positive growth in gross gaming revenue, the effects from the efficiency increases in marketing commenced in 2013 and continued in 2014, and unchanged other operating expenses all had clearly positive repercussions for the earnings growth of the bet-at-home.com AG Group. EBITDA increased in the first three quarters of 2014 to EUR 17.2 million – an increase of EUR 6.1 million year-on-year (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 11.1 million).

The EBITDA guidance for the whole of the 2014 financial year has thus already been exceeded in Q3 2014. From the current perspective, the Board of Directors of the bet-at-home.com AG Group expects the positive earnings contributions to continue in Q4 2014 of the 2014 financial year.

EBIT also increased due to the positive developments in the reporting period by EUR 6.0 million to EUR 16.7 million (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 10.7 million).

Due to the investment of the high level of liquid funds as well as the granting of short-term loans under arm's length conditions to the majority owners of bet-at-home.com AG, the Group financial results for the first three quarters of 2014 increased to EUR 1.2 million (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 0.9 million).

In the first three quarters of the current financial year, the earnings before taxes (EBT) amounts accordingly to EUR 17.9 million and thus represents a year-on-year increase of EUR 6.3 million (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 11.6 million). The highest contribution to earnings occurred in Q3 of 2014, with an EBT of EUR 8.6 million being generated between July and September 2014 (Q1 2014: EUR 8.3 million, Q2 2014: EUR 1.0 million).

Stable revenue development

Gross betting and gaming revenue amounted to EUR 80.7 million in the Q3 of 2014 and was thus 30.6% above the figure for the same period in 2013 (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 61.8 million). As the most important key figure in the e-gaming market, gross betting and gaming revenue represents the difference between the stakes played and customer winnings.

The gaming volume of bet-at-home.com AG amounted to a total of EUR 1,588.0 million in the first three quarters of 2014 (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 1,342.9 million) and was thus 18.3% higher year-on-year.

Betting fees and gambling levies in the first 9 months of 2014, combined with the increase in gross betting and gaming revenue, were above the level of the same period of the previous year at EUR 9.4 million (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 8.1 million). As a result, net gaming revenue also increased to EUR 71.3 million (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 53.7 million).

Significant expansion of the customer base due to international advertising campaigns for the 2014 World Cup

In the summer of 2014, bet-at-home.com was present in large parts of Europe with international, cross-media advertising campaigns during the Football World Cup in Brazil. In total, the advertising expense in the first nine months of 2014 amounted to EUR 34.2 million and was therefore 38.0% higher year-on-year (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 24.8 million).

As of the reporting date, September 30, 2014, the bet-at-home.com AG Group has more than 3.9 registered customers (September 30, 2013: 3.5 million).

The ongoing efficiency increases can also be clearly seen in other operating expenses. With expenses in the amount of EUR 9.6 million, the operating expense in the first three quarters of 2014 is exactly the level of last year (Q1-Q3 2013: EUR 9.6 million), despite a higher gaming volume.

Stable asset and capital structure

Due to the recent high contributions during the current business period, Group equity amounted to EUR 53.7 million as of September 30, 2014 (December 31, 2013: EUR 44.6 million), which resulted in a Group equity ratio of 68.9% (December 31, 2013: 64.5%) despite the dividend payment in Q2 of the reporting period.

In addition, the bet-at-home.com AG Group has liquid funds and current securities in the amount of EUR 28.7 million as of September 30, 2014 (December 31, 2013: EUR 23.2 million). Furthermore, EUR 40.0 million in short-term loans to the main shareholder was recognized as of September 30, 2014. These loans were granted under arm’s length conditions and jointly and severally collateralized by the owners of the majority shareholder.

The Colorado Lottery Offers Colorado A New Way To Play

DENVER, Colorado (Nov. 10, 2014) -- The Colorado Lottery is now offering Colorado players a new way to play with an upgrade to the newest, state-of-the-art technology. Players can now play both Scratch and Jackpot games in the same self-service machine, as well as easily preview upcoming Scratch games, check tickets without the assistance of a cashier and more. The conversion was successful and the Lottery is asking players and retailers to continue to be patient as they could experience temporary intermittent slowdowns when purchasing and redeeming tickets with the new system.

The Lottery’s new ticket vending machines are fully operational in most of the Lottery’s high volume retailers. These new machines offer both Scratch and Jackpot ticket options in the same self-service machine. Jackpot games include Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto, Cash 5 and Pick 3.

Additionally, all 3,100 retailers throughout the state of Colorado will have 20” monitors on site so players can preview upcoming Scratch games and receive important information about Jackpot games. Ticket checkers have also been installed at many retail locations to make it easier for players to see if they have a winner. The ticket checkers can check both Scratch and Jackpot tickets.

'Veterans Cash' Game On Sale Statewide

100% of Proceeds Benefit Illinois Veterans

CHICAGO, Illinois (November 7, 2014) -- The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) joined the Illinois Lottery and 23 grant recipients today in launching the newest Veterans Cash instant lottery game at the Union League Club of Chicago. Since 2006, Veterans Cash has awarded more than $11.7 million in grants statewide to veterans’ organizations that provide vital services, including job training, housing assistance, and PTSD treatment.

The new Veterans Cash game is expected to raise about $2 million for Illinois Veterans. People can go to the IDVA’s website here and to learn more about the various programs funded through Veterans Cash.

Tickets for the new Veterans Cash game cost $5 each, and feature four top instant prizes of $250,000—the largest cash prizes ever offered in a special-cause Lottery instant game. The Veterans Cash prize structure, which includes fifteen $5,000 prizes and four-hundred $1,000 prizes, mirrors the structure of other $5 instant games. About 69 percent of revenue generated by Veterans Cash is returned to ticket buyers as prizes. All net proceeds, after prizes and expenses, are provided to groups that support services for Illinois veterans.

The original Illinois Lottery’s Veterans Cash game from 2006 was the first lottery game in the United States to earmark 100 percent of net proceeds to veterans. The newest $5 Veterans Cash game is supported by a statewide marketing campaign that includes, for the first time, television support. The Lottery, through its multicultural agency of record, commonground, has adapted its Batchy Award winning “street videos” to promote awareness of Illinois’ veterans and the availability of the game. The General Assembly appropriates this money solely to IDVA, which uses the money to provide grants to veterans’ service providers.  Some additional services provided through the Lottery game include assistance for homeless veterans, medical expenses and disability benefits.

The new Veterans Cash game is available at more than 8,100 Illinois Lottery retail locations throughout the state. This year, for the first time, there are two ticket designs for the game, one similar to last year’s; the other using elements of camouflage to promote the connection to military service.
