GUMPOLDSKIRCHEN, Austria (February 10, 2015) -- NOVOMATIC subsidiary Greentube has acquired a controlling interest in BlueBat Games, the Vancouver-based business which helped to develop the company's Greentube Pro turnkey social marketing platform.

BlueBat has worked with Greentube since May last year, when it partnered the business to develop the Greentube Pro turnkey social marketing platform. It also created the BlueBox Engine, a social gamification product designed to help clients increase player engagement.

Greentube said that the deal would further expand its US presence by giving it access to a technology extension, allowing it to develop white label solutions for land-based casino operators. The companies have already collaborated on a B2C social casino product, Magic Key Casino, which features a selection of Greentube’s real-money games repurposed as free-to-play products.

We worked closely with the BlueBat team on a number of projects in the past year”, Greentube chief executive Thomas Graf said of the partnership with BlueBat. “After the launch of Greentube Pro, it became apparent that BlueBat and Greentube's approach to social gaming were in direct alignment. The acquisition was the next logical step in our progression.” Greentube is a leading European B2B supplier in the online gaming segment and a leading provider of social gaming in Europe, the United States and Australasia.

Founded in 2011 by former Electronic Arts veterans Kenny Huang, who serves as the CEO, and chief technology officer Tim Harris, BlueBat has also created a selection of penny slot games. The NOVOMATIC Group is one of the biggest producers and operators of gaming technologies and one of the largest integrated gaming companies in the world. The group employs more than 22,000 staff worldwide. Founded by entrepreneur Professor Johann F. We are proud to be a part of a project that both contributes to social causes and gives customers an exciting new lottery experience,” said Genera CEO Maria Sandell. “We are confident that the game’s combination of simplicity, wide distribution, and high entertainment value will greatly contribute to Norway’s own neighbourly humanitarian efforts.”

Unless’ Turns Clause Into Cause for Celebration

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 7, 2015) --The DC Lottery breaks through the clutter of the expected with the ‘Unless I Win the Lottery’ advertising campaign. Launching February 15, the commercials feature comedic applications of the familiar phrase to equally familiar situations. ‘Unless’ turns the commonplace into a celebration—just by winning the lottery.

There’s the obligatory corporate presentation, the oversized sofa that needs moving, the next gig with the band, and the weather report—all at the top of your ever-growing list of things to do… unless you win the lottery.

“The ‘Unless’ spots find humor in the mundane and rally against the routine—just by adding a little twist of luck,’ says Buddy Roogow, executive director of the DC Lottery. “Who hasn’t said it; who hasn’t dreamed about it? We’re hoping people see themselves, feel the optimism, and take a chance.”

The anticipation of ‘Unless’ follows the actuality of the ‘Real Winners’ series that debuted in November 2014 and highlights the winning experiences of factual DC Lottery winners.

We love that we can play with the whimsy of winning in ‘Unless’ and have that potential affirmed with the ‘Real Winners,’ says Roogow.

The ‘Unless’ and ‘Real Winners’ commercials were produced by MDB Communications, Inc.

Founded in 1982, the DC Lottery is the District of Columbia Government agency that regulates the sale of gaming products and charitable gaming activities in the District of Columbia.

Since its inception, the DC Lottery has awarded more than $3 billion in prizes, transferred more than $1.8 billion to the District’s General Fund which supports essential services in the District, and has helped local nonprofits raise more than $125 million in support of social causes.

American Gaming Association President Details the Organization’s “Get to Know Gaming” Campaign

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 13, 2015) --

Dear Gaming Colleague:

As part of the AGA’s “Get to Know Gaming” campaign, which will aggressively promote the value of the industry, today we released a seminal report outlining the quality, range and skills associated with the more than 200 types of careers at hundreds of casinos across 40 states. Beyond the research, we have launched a video series that highlights real-life stories of gaming employees, and announced an upcoming multiyear national initiative to ensure presidential candidates understand gaming’s significance in strengthening the middle class. Please visit www.FacesofGaming.org to learn how you may support the AGA’s effort to aggressively shape the image of the gaming industry across the U.S.

Gaming Careers: Gateway to Middle Class

Oxford Economics’ report, “Gaming Careers: Gateway to the Middle Class,” reveals that gaming:

  • Creates Jobs and Opportunities: Gaming offers a vast array of career paths for a diverse segment of the U.S. workforce. According to projections, the industry is on track to add more than 62,000 well-paying jobs in the next decade. Additionally, few industries employ as diverse a workforce as gaming. Forty-five percent of gaming’s workforce is comprised of minorities and nearly half (48%) are women – both far higher than the national average.
  • Promotes Educational Growth: In addition to the industry’s many programs providing benefits such as tuition reimbursement and citizenship assistance, companies also encourage flexibility to allow employees to pursue ongoing education. An industry-wide commitment to employee development creates a culture of upward mobility while also providing the security and stability of well-paying jobs.
  • Builds the Middle Class: Gaming provides hundreds of thousands of high-quality jobs to workers from diverse backgrounds with wide-ranging levels of job experience and areas of expertise. With salaries comparable to – or above – the national average and companies dedicated to growing employee talents and responsibilities, the gaming industry serves as a gateway to the middle class. For many U.S. workers, gaming offers an opportunity to earn above the U.S. average annual salary.

In conjunction with this report, we launched a “Faces of Gaming” video series that includes first-hand testimonials from employees about their experiences in the gaming industry. These videos will be featured on our website and will air nationwide to target policymakers and other industry stakeholders as part of our goal to aggressively shape the image of the gaming industry. We encourage anyone whose job is supported by gaming to share your story (http://www.gettoknowgaming.org/contest)

2016 Election: Gaming Votes

As part of this launch, we are also planning a multiyear national initiative called, “Gaming Votes,” which incorporates in-district events highlighting the gaming industry’s workforce to ensure that as the 2016 election season ramps up, political candidates understand gaming’s vital role in providing middle-class jobs and driving economic growth in key states across the country.

Until “Gaming Votes” hits the road, we encourage you to:

  • Distribute the Gaming Career’s report    to policymakers in your communities;
  • Take to social media and promote these impactful employment study’s key finding with AGA’s tweet sheet; and
  • Share your story about how gaming has impacted your life.

Oxford’s report affirms that gaming empowers its employees to pursue higher education, move up the career ladder and build a better life for themselves and their families. We look forward to rallying the industry to showcase first-hand the jobs that gaming supports in key political states across the country in the months ahead.

Sincerely,

Geoff Freeman

President & CEO

"I agree with NBA commissioner Adam Silver: The question, right now, is "when," not "if," Americans will be able to bet on the Super Bowl legally outside of Nevada. And what plays out in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals this spring between the leagues and New Jersey will go a long way in answering that question," said David Purdum, Gaming Industry Reporter from ESPN.
