Survey Stats Show MGS Are Charting the Right Course

By Asia For the World - November 17th to 19th - Venetian Macao

MACAU, SAR (June 22, 2015) -- Following the success of last year’s Macao Gaming Show, the expo organisers have been busy analysing the statistics to help harness the event’s strengths and continue on the path to further growth.

The early forecasts indicate that the 2015 edition already looks set to build on last year’s attendance figures, with at least 99% of attendees confident that they would return at the next opportunity.

Novoamatic Lottery Solutions

When asked for their opinions on the Macao Gaming Show and specific reasons for returning, attendees focused on the show logistics, commenting on the organiser’s professionalism, the informative conference topics and the “brilliantly diversified” exhibitor base. They also said that the Asian theme had drawn them to the show, with the centre-piece on this rapidly developing market offering valuable insight for international attendees.

MGS visitor levels soared by 40% from the previous year in 2014. But it wasn’t just the quantity of people at the show that appeared to impress exhibitors; it was also the quality.

Of the twelve thousand visitors who passed through the doors of the Venetian to attend the 2014 ‘By Asia, for the world’ show, at least two thirds were senior management figures or company directors.

An overwhelming 84% of visitors had the authority to either approve or recommend purchases, while the remaining 16% could identify potential areas for investment.

MGS General Manager and Event Director Marina Wong commented: “People are the true driving factor behind any world class show, which is why we aim to attract the most influential visitors and highest quality exhibitors that the industry has to offer."

In 2013 and 2014, we had a strong track record of bringing key decision makers, high level casino executives and powerful regulators together – and we were enthused to hear guests commenting on this winning formula.”

Florida Lottery Scratch-Off Sales Break All-Time Record, with Time Left to Grow

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (June 23, 2015) -- Florida Lottery's Scratch-Off sales this fiscal year have already surpassed last year's record-breaking Scratch-Off sales year. Last week's launch of the WEEK FOR LIFE family of games helped generate more than $72 million in Scratch-Off sales for the week ending June 21, 2015. This fiscal year to date, the Lottery has generated more than $3.62 billion in Scratch-Off sales alone.

"This is a great achievement for the Florida Lottery and great news for Florida's students and schools since a portion of every ticket sold contributes to education funding in all of Florida's 67 counties," said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O'Connell.

"With just one week remaining in the fiscal year, the Lottery is committed to doing everything possible to make this another record year in prizes paid to winners, commissions paid to retailers which helps grow Florida's economy, and most importantly, in transfers to education."

The WEEK FOR LIFE Scratch-Off games feature the largest top prize of any Florida Lottery Scratch-Off game available at each price point, with top prizes paid over the winner's lifetime. In addition, the Payday Second Chance Promotion gives players a second chance to win cash prizes using non-winning tickets.

Lottery Scratch-Off sales alone have accounted for 67 percent of total Lottery revenue this year and more than $2.47 billion in prizes paid to winners. Maintaining a healthy and broad product mix through research and testing has resulted in the Lottery achieving record sales for the past several years and being ranked second in the nation in total sales.

The Florida Lottery offers approximately 60 Scratch-Off games, ranging in price for $1 to $25, at any given time through vending machines or counter displays at more than 13,000 retailers statewide. To learn more about Florida Lottery games and promotions, visit our website or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $28 billion to education and sending more than 700,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests nearly 98 percent of its revenue back into Florida's economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 Florida retailers and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid more than $37 billion in prizes and made more than 1,300 people millionaires. For more information, please visit

Kansas Lottery Deliver Record Transfer to the State!

TOPEKA, Kansas (June 19, 2015) -- The Kansas Lottery is putting one in the record books! The Lottery has set an all-time record, transferring more revenue to the State this fiscal year than ever before. The transfer of $75.02 million for FY15 beats the previous record by more than half a million dollars and is $1.5 million more than the Lottery's original transfer goal of $73.5 million set by the Kansas Legislature.

"To say that I am proud of this accomplishment by the Kansas Lottery team would be an understatement," said Kansas Lottery Director Terry Presta. "Every department made vast strides of improvement over the year." This was at a time, Presta said, when the lottery industry nationwide was facing many challenges.

  • Powerball went into a jackpot drought, sending sales down 40 percent nationwide the first two quarters of FY15.
  • Mega Millions also experienced its own jackpot drought and was down 25 percent in the first quarter of this year.
  • A new national draw game the Kansas Lottery was counting on for $6 million in sales in FY15, collapsed in other state lotteries in December before Kansas even began selling it.

To make matters worse, Presta said, one of the Lottery's largest retailers stopped allowing lottery players to include lottery tickets in their purchases if they used debit or credit cards because of a change in fees for this, and also decided to reduce the number of instant scratch games it would sell in its stores from 24 to 8 (causing instant sales to drop almost $100,000 per week).

"By February 2015, our prospects of making the $73.5 million transfer looked pretty bleak," said Presta.

"However, the Kansas Lottery remained focused on all of our new initiatives and made internal changes with the sole focus of helping us make or at least get very close to our transfer goal. If this year were a prize fight I would have said we were knocked down in the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th rounds. But somehow we got up from the mat and won the fight."

Total Kansas Lottery sales for FY15 won't be tabulated until the end of the fiscal year on June 30, but Presta predicts total sales for the year will also set a new all-time record. The previous record for sales was in FY14.

Where Does the Money Go?

Lottery Revenue

Lottery revenue goes into the State Gaming Revenues Fund. On a yearly basis, the first $50 million is divided by a formula which first transfers $80,000 to the Problem Gambling and Addictions Grant Fund. Then 85 percent of the balance is transferred to the Economic Development Initiatives Fund, 10 percent to the Correctional Institutions Building Fund, and 5 percent to the Juvenile Detention Facilities Fund. Any receipts in excess of $50 million must be transferred to the State General Fund.

The Economic Development Initiatives Fund supports state programs that create and retain jobs in Kansas. Those programs include the Rural Opportunity Zones Program, Kansas Department of Commerce programs, Tourism and Parks programs in the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks, and many more.

Proceeds from the sale of the Kansas Lottery's Veterans games go directly to programs that benefit Kansas military veterans such as the Veterans Enhanced Service Delivery Program which brings services to veterans where they live, National Guard scholarships and Kansas Veterans Homes.

FDJ® Launch Major Advertising Campaign to Promote Its Digital Services

FRANCE (June 15, 2015) -- La Française des Jeux (FDJ) today launched its first major advertising campaign to publicize its digital offering to a wider audience. This campaign underlines the will of FDJ® to continue the digital transformation of its products and services to the benefit of its network and its customers in which it is strongly committed to its President General Director Stéphane Pallez.

2015, the year of the digital turn in FDJ®

During the 1st half , FDJ® has launched a new website and new mobile and tablet portals, simpler, more intuitive, clean design and proposed new mobile games: Tic Tac Toe, or Astro Bingo which offers " scratch "on his screen virtual ticket - and recreates the fun of gesture that makes the success of scratch cards available in stores.

In June 2015 , FDJ® launches an advertising campaign to promote its services, games and digital applications to the public.

In the middle of the 2nd half , promises a new generation of exclusive online games. Recall that in 2014, the development of digital has seen increased growth starts (+ 16.7% compared to 5.5% in 2013) to reach € 478 million (versus € 410 million). In particular, the development of mobile use was striking: over 20% of the digital set Loto® and Euro Millions

A campaign on the "uses" the offbeat

This campaign reflects the adjustment of supply to digital uses FDJ® consumers. It plunges the viewer into the everyday players and illustrates, through a series of four films, four digital services and games offered by FDJ®:

  • The warning gain that can be informed when you have won film "4 Menus B
  • ! Live Bingo game or "grandmothers bingo" digitized: film "Knitting is the future"
  • The betting limits that guarantee mastered the game: film "The shower, she is bipolar"
  • The ability to play anywhere anytime until the last minute: the film "5, is the number of fingers on the hand qu'j'ai"

On the form, FDJ® chose a tone and performance in line with the target of 25-34 years it wants to touch. Humor "crazy" and "murderous valves" - like the mini web series (how "Norman made videos") or TV series (American series like "How I met your mother") who know a great success, provide a link with the shifted tone that made the brand awareness in the past while bringing a real facelift.

Schafer Systems Inc.

The campaign, designed by BETC, is built like a saga where we find the same in every episode 4 characters, 4 young thirties living in collocation: 2 boys, Peter and Walid, 2 daughters, Matilda and Zoe take turns experiencing the benefits of services and FDJ® games.

The realization was entrusted to another thirty, Jean-Baptiste Saurel (BIG Productions), a specialist in genre films and humor in the second degree.

A media plan that relies heavily on digital

To reach its target, FDJ® put on a digital media plan since the films will be first broadcast on various digital platforms - in long versions (between 42 '' and 53 '' according to the films) - before being broadcast radio and online TV - in shorter versions (30 '').

FDJ® also relies on a strong presence on YouTube and Facebook to complete his device.

The campaign starts from June 11 to June 14 and digital TV in (first broadcast Sunday night on TF1 8:30 p.m.).

Finally, the first week of the campaign, a 5th movie web 20 '' (where Walid attempts to lure users with a "performance" of his roommate Peter ...) accompanies the start of the campaign so web series launch.

Restaurant Entertainment Chain to Introduce Live in-Venue “Fantasy Sports Books

ALBANY, New York (June 22, 2015) -- The fantasy gaming industry continues to innovate, bringing with it fresh ideas that provide more types of games in a variety of contexts. That is certainly the case with the announcement of Latitude 360‘s foray into the space, promising to roll out the first chain of live in-venue “fantasy sports books.”

Its dining and entertainment venues are currently located in Indianapolis, Jacksonville and Pittsburgh, with plans to open another location in Albany, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis and a 100,000 square-foot location in the heart of Wall Street.

Latitude 360 will not venture into the competitive fantasy sports space alone. It has also revealed an acquisition of Major League Fantasy (MLF), a growing destination for online daily fantasy sports that is partnered with the Golden State Warriors. According to MLF CEO Jesse Merl, MLF has seen its user base triple over the past 2 months.

We’re thrilled to become a part of the Latitude 360 family,” added Merl. ”We can’t imagine a better way to grow our audience than to make it accessible through the most exciting entertainment destination to come along in a very, very long time. The Latitude 360 venues ensure that after proper game implementation, our competitors will be fighting for second place in the live real-money fantasy vertical we are creating.”

The plan starts with including iPads in Latitude 360's sports theater that offer patrons the ease of interacting through fantasy-style gaming. It extends to the creation of VIP rooms for high rollers with contest entries projected to range from $250 to $25,000 along with a viewing experience for players and spectators that will cause many to flock to Latitude 360 venues. The concept is centered around enticing fantasy-crazed people to come to Latitude 360 locations for sporting events, because it will be the optimal entertainment venue to participate in fantasy sports.

Our HD Sports Theaters are the perfect venue to prove that people want to play fantasy this way and ‘360 Fantasy LIVE’ will be available by NFL kickoff,” said Latitude 360 CEO Brent Brown. ”The Latitude 360 brand has never been second best in any category we entered willingly. We are confident that this will be a shining reflection of this continuing trend.”

Latitude 360 is unique because it is essentially a company that owns dining and entertainment venues that is entering the fantasy sports space as opposed to a technological start-up seeking to build a platform from scratch. It quickly fills a need of having a fantasy-related platform through the acquisition of MLF. Incorporating that platform into its existing and future locations, Latitude 360 has the opportunity to focus on capturing a share of a fervent fantasy sports market that few, if any, have attempted to attack.

Sports-related shareholders of Latitude 360 include Cliff Avril of the Seattle Seahawks, Rashad Jennings of the New York Giants, Derek Wolfe of the Denver Broncos, Chris Ivory, Tyson Alualu and other current and former National Football League players. The company also recently signed a partnership with wide receiver Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons.

The deal between Latitude 360 and MLF was brokered by Matthew Gavin of Brand Synergy Group. Darren Heitner is a lawyer and the Founder of South Florida-based HEITNER LEGAL, P.L.L.C., which has a focus on Sports Law and Entertainment Law.

AGA: Nine in Ten Voters Across the Country Approve of Casino Gaming

Casinos Send Letter to Presidential Candidates: Take a Stand in Support of Gaming

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 18, 2015) -- If presidential candidates want to win votes in Nevada, they should learn the ins-and-outs of modern casino gaming, a $53 billion Nevada industry that supports 425,000 Nevada jobs, says American Gaming Association (AGA) President and CEO Geoff Freeman in a letter to declared and likely candidates today who have demonstrated an interest in competing in Nevada.

Every presidential candidate seeking votes in Nevada should take a stand in support of gaming,” wrote Freeman. “Talk to Nevada’s elected officials, especially those advising your campaign, who understand the importance of backing gaming. Meet with stakeholders who directly benefit from our industry, such as charities whose programs would not exist without contributions from casinos.

Further, publicly demonstrate an appreciation for gaming by visiting a casino resort or gaming supplier facility. Take a back-of-the-house tour to see firsthand how thousands of hardworking employees power the industry that is the lifeblood of the state’s economy. Without a doubt, you will hear stories about how gaming provides a path to the middle class and opportunities to advance one’s career in a fulfilling way to people of all backgrounds and experiences.

Whether one is an immigrant seeking a better life for his or her family or someone looking for a high-tech career, there’s a place for him or her in the gaming industry,” he wrote.

Three presidential candidates are descending on Nevada this week with the goal of capturing the support of the state’s influential Latino community. The candidates are speaking to more than 1,200 Latino leaders from across the country at Aria Resort and Casino during the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Annual Conference, which serves to highlight the gaming industry’s highly diverse workforce, of which 20 percent are Latinos.

In the letters, Freeman noted that voters across the country approve of gaming in record numbers.

With nine in ten American voters approving of gaming, your presence in casinos and gaming supplier facilities will only boost, not hurt, your chances of securing more votes – not just in Nevada, but nationwide,” he wrote.

Beyond Nevada, Freeman highlighted that 40 states have casinos today.

“While gaming’s presence is largest in Nevada, it is not limited to the Silver State,” Freeman wrote. “As you travel to other key presidential states, you will quickly realize that gaming is no longer a niche, novel industry, but a nationwide, quarter-of-a-trillion dollar industry that is supporting more than half a million jobs in the key states of Iowa, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, among others.

AGA sent letters to the following candidates: Governor Jeb Bush; Dr. Ben Carson; Secretary Hillary Clinton; Senator Ted Cruz; Carly Fiorina; Governor Mike Huckabee; Governor John Kasich; Governor Martin O’Malley; Governor Rick Perry; Governor George Pataki; Senator Rand Paul; Senator Marco Rubio; Senator Bernie Sanders; and Governor Scott Walker.

Earlier this year in Las Vegas, the AGA launched a national initiative, “Gaming Votes,” to ensure presidential candidates understand gaming’s vital role in providing middle class jobs and driving economic growth. Casino gaming supports more than half-a-million jobs and contributes $75 billion to local communities in key presidential states. On Monday, AGA is hosting a roundtable discussion in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to highlight the impact of gaming in the early voting state.

About AGA

The American Gaming Association is the premier national trade group representing the $240 billion U.S. casino industry, which supports 1.7 million jobs in 40 states. AGA members include commercial and tribal casino operators, suppliers and other entities affiliated with the gaming industry. It is the mission of the AGA to be the single most effective champion of the industry, relentlessly protecting against harmful and often misinformed public policies, and paving a path for growth, innovation and reinvestment.
