About Danske Spil

Danske Spil A/S, previously known as Dansk Tipstjeneste A/S, was founded in 1948 in connection with the passing of Tipsloven by the Danish Parliament, Folketinget. Until 1989, the football betting was Danske Spil's only product, but this changed in 1989 when the company was authorised to offer lottery services (Lotto) as well. In 1992 the first scratch card, Quick, entered the market, and in 1994 Oddset was launched.

Since 2000, Danske Spil has also offered betting on horse- and dograce. In 2001, the subsidiary Danske Automatspil was founded. This subsidiary handles slot machines.

Dansk Automatspil merged with Elite Gaming A/S in 2011. In 2012, Danske Spil bought Erhvervsinvest's shareholdings of 50.1 percent in Elite Gaming. As a result of the transaction, Danske Spil obtained an equity interest of 100 percent and went from joint to sole ownership of Elite Gaming.

In 2010 Folketinget unanimously passed the partial liberalisation of the Danish gaming legislation, which allowed other suppliers of games to apply for licenses to offer sports- and online gaming products.

The law entered into force in 2012, which prompted Danske Spil to establish two subsidiaries: Danske Lotteri Spil A/S, which handles the monopolised games, and Danske Licens Spil A/S, which handles the liberalised games. Danske Lotteri Spil offers, among other things, Lotto, Onsdags Lotto, Joker, Eurojackpot, Keno, Quick, Bingo and Dantoto. Danske Licens Spil offers, among other things, Poker, Casino Oddset, Tips and Zezam.

Maltco Lotteries: A Contribution to Society in the Most Concrete and Responsible Way

MALTA (April 21, 2015) -- The company takes regular initiatives in various social welfare areas as well as to promote sports amongst the Maltese society.

The company's name Maltco Lotteries is directly synonymous with the gaming industry whereby the company is not only locally at the forefront with encouraging and satisfactory results but also globally through its membership in both World Lottery (WLA) and European Lottery (EL) Associations thus not only honour the company itself, but also our country which is at the forefront in this sector, as well as spurring companies to follow examples of how to do business and achieve results in this sector.

Maltco Lotteries follows this starting point with the most immediate manner with a good number of initiatives taken on a regular basis to concretely give its due to various social aspects of our country which directly and indirectly affect all the Maltese population, and also to tangibly help the various Maltese sporting fields towards achieving progress.

Maltco Lotteries always believed that a healthy society is one which embraces the principle of widespread solidarity. Therefore every so often we hear about how the company - in the most direct and altruistic manner - involves itself and participates in pluralistic activities both in the social sector as well as the sporting field.

It is worth noting a number of examples about the company's Corporate Social Responsibility, amongst which, that as part of the agreement reached with the Government when the company won the license for another ten years, Maltco Lotteries committed itself to donate EUR 50,000 yearly to the Malta Gaming Authority which go towards the Responsible Gaming Fund. A task to be undertaken so stop abuse, ensures that gaming is carried out responsibly and those working in this sector through illegal betting are stopped.

The company's initiatives in the sports sector are plenty. It is enough to remind the support recently given to the Malta Chess Federation. Maltco Lotteries choose to sponsor the competitions organised by this Federation for the next two years and this with the intent to extend its support and backing to relatively small societies to that they can also continue progressing in their operations.

When talking about sports, physical strength and fitness often come first to mind. However, there is another sport which goes beyond this and which is based upon mental power. Chess is in fact one of such games and it is important to note that there is a good number of people in Malta enthusiastic about this very interesting game.

Maltco Lotteries was also involved in the gala night for the SportMalta Awards. And this for the second consecutive year and with the precise intent to help develop the Maltese sporting talent. Apart from the sponsoring help, Maltco Lotteries offers a EUR500 prize to every winning athlete so they can continue investing in their abilities and coaching so they can improve their qualities, and in turn increase the level of Maltese sports.

Another association which benefitted from Maltco Lotteries' was the Malta Weightlifting Association in relation to the Mediterranean Cup 2015 which was held last March. Even here, the company gave its input to ensure that the activity could be successfully organised and satisfactory to itself and to all those who have this particular sport at heart.

This year Maltco chose to help the LifeCycle Foundation's marathon which is going to be held in Iceland this coming July. A number of volunteer cyclists participate in this annual challenge and paddle a distance not less than 2,000km in ten days to collect money in aid of patients in the Renal Unit, Mater Dei Hospital.

Together with many other companies, Maltco Lotteries participates in the President's Fun Run organised yearly during the month of December with the air of collecting money in aid of Istrina. This activity attracts thousands of Maltese and Gozitan who together and for one noble cause, run to St. George's Square in Valletta where the President of Malta announces that collected sum which would be going towards various noble causes administered by the Community Chest Fund.

Apart from the handsome sum which Maltco Lotteries offers for this initiative, the company also encourages its Agents so that their outlets collect money and donate to this noble cause towards The Community Chest Fund. Moreover, the company encourages its employees to participate and to give their donation and walk together as the Maltco Group.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (April 17, 2015) -- The Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation today announced the Third Quarter for Fiscal Year 2015 produced the highest education funding of any three-month period since the Lottery's inception in January 2004. The record-setting quarter, covering the period from January 1, 2015, through March 31, 2015, saw a return in total education funds surpassing $96.8 million, a 10.6% increase-or $9.3 million-over the same period last fiscal year, and $4.7 million more than the previous record set in the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2012.

Total Lottery funding for education-related programs in Tennessee-including funds for scholarships, grants, and after-school programs-now exceeds $3.3 billion since the Lottery's first day of ticket sales more than 11 years ago. The third quarter of FY15 also saw a record in total Lottery sales of more than $400.9 million, an increase of more than $24.6 million over the previous record set in the third quarter of last year.

"This was a remarkably robust quarter for the Lottery," said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation. "Our array of instant games proved especially popular, and when combined with sizeable jackpots in our drawing-style games, we were again able to post record returns. The best news, of course, is that the funds raised will serve to benefit Tennessee students and their families all across the state."

Lottery Issues Statement Following Continuation in Hot Lotto® Trial

CLIVE, Iowa, Iowa (April 14, 2015) -- Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich released the following statement Monday following announcement that the Polk County District Court trial involving the Hot Lotto case has been rescheduled for July:

We need to respect the trial process and allow the court to do its work, so we are not in a position to discuss the facts that are going to be litigated in this case. We don't want to do anything that could prejudice the outcome of the trial. But I can tell you that there are extensive security procedures involved in lottery drawings, and this case demonstrates why we have to continually sharpen our skills and oversight.

There will always be someone trying to beat the system. The lottery industry has and will continue to update its security procedures as we identify vulnerabilities to protect against them. We've introduced additional layers of security and even more separation of duties at our lottery because of what we've learned in this case, and that's ultimately been a positive outcome. We also urged that the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), the vendor organization for which Eddie Tipton worked, put additional security procedures in place and that has occurred, with more underway.

The equipment and software used in the Hot Lotto drawings has been replaced since the time that Eddie Tipton was employed at MUSL. The new equipment and software has been tested and certified by an independent gaming laboratory and forensically examined for malicious software, with no concerns identified. The security cameras, other physical security restrictions and procedures at MUSL also have been replaced and updated.

I have confidence that the games we offer today are fair. Our lottery has strong layers of security in place to protect lottery players, lottery games and lottery prizes. Those procedures enabled us to seek information about the winning ticket in this case and not pay the prize until basic questions could be answered - and they never were.

We've repeatedly said that this is an ongoing investigation, and we have more information about this case today than we did in the past. We have worked side-by-side with law enforcement throughout this investigation and are eager for the outcome of the trial."

Florida Lottery Reaches $28 Billion Milestone

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (April 21, 2015) -- The Florida Lottery today announced a new milestone of $28 billion in transfers to the state's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) since opening its doors in 1988. In fiscal year 2013-14, the Lottery achieved record sales resulting in the transfer of $1.49 billion to Florida's students and schools. The Lottery is currently on pace to have another record-breaking year, which means another record level of transfers to education.

Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O'Connell was joined by Florida State Representative Alan Williams to make the announcement and present a ceremonial check representing the $28 billion generated from Lottery ticket sales for education.

Governor Scott said, "Today's announcement that the Florida Lottery has reached $28 billion in transfers to education is great news for Florida students. We know a great job begins with a great education, and we are working to ensure that every student has access to the tools they need to succeed in their college and future career. I applaud the Lottery for their commitment to investing in our students so they can become the leaders of tomorrow."

"Floridians can always count on the Lottery to remain focused on our mission to maximize revenues for the educational programs we fund," said Secretary Cynthia O'Connell. "In the coming year, we will continue to explore new product offerings that will help generate enthusiasm among our players and continuing to grow revenues for education in our state."

This marks the thirteenth consecutive year the Lottery has transferred more than $1 billion to education, and has continued to lead the 10 largest-selling lotteries in the nation in sales growth and growth in contributions to beneficiaries. Just last month, the Florida Lottery led the nation in single-week Scratch-Off sales for two straight weeks, setting a national record of more than $95.6 million in Scratch-Off sales for a single week and resulting in $17 million being generated for the benefit of Florida students and schools.

"The Lottery's sole mission is to sell tickets to generate revenue for education," said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O'Connell. "Floridians can always count on their Lottery to raise additional funds to benefit the state's most valuable future resource - our students. We will continue to explore new product offerings that will help generate enthusiasm among our players and grow revenues for education in our state."

Florida Lottery contributions represent approximately six percent of the state's total education budget. Lottery funds are appropriated by the Florida Legislature and are administered by the Florida Department of Education.

Cynthia O'Connell and Representative Alan Williams pose with Florida Lottery employees holding a ceremonial check representing the $28 billion the Florida Lottery has generated for education. These teachers and students represent a small, yet important, portion of the Florida Lottery's stakeholders in the state of Florida.

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $28 billion to education and sending more than 700,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests nearly 98 percent of its revenue back into Florida's economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 Florida retailers and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid more than $46 billion in prizes and made more than 1,400 people millionaires. For more information, please visit

March Was Mad Fun for Many New Jersey Lottery Instant Ticket Winners

Instant Ticket Players Won More Than Ten Million Dollars

TRENTON, N.J. (April 20, 2015) – The largest top prize that has ever been offered in New Jersey Lottery instant ticket history was won and claimed in March by Lacey Katona from Linden. The new $30 ticket, $5,000,000 Cash Extravaganza instant game, was a life-changing event for her and her family. Katona said about the win, “My family feels truly blessed.”

A press event to celebrate the win was presided over by Carole Hedinger, Lottery Executive Director and held at the lucky retail location, Krauszer’s in Linden. Local and national news media were in attendance to report on the exciting story.

Equally as thrilled and surrounded by her family, Nicole Searight came to headquarters to claim her $2,000,000 Mega Cash instant game prize. Nicole said that her favorite games include Crossword, Big Money Poker, $10 Cash Spectacular, and now, her life-changing favorite is the Mega Cash game. When Nicole described what the experience was like for her when she realized that she had won she said, “I was hysterically crying.” Her mom added, “I thought someone had died – she couldn’t breathe.”

Once calm, she began thinking long-term. Nicole decided to take the annuity prize so that she and her son can feel secure for the next 25 years. Living for today is also important, so Nicole purchased a new house to call home and a new truck to get her there.

This summer, she and her son will experience the wonder of Disney World! Dreams really do come true.

The instant ticket excitement didn’t end there. Adelaide DeCarlo of Lyndhurst claimed her $1,000 a Week for Life prize by accepting the lump sum payment of $1,000,000 before taxes. Her lucky retailer was 7-Eleven #32353 (N) in Lyndhurst.
