LAS VEGAS, Nevada (September 29, 2015) -- Scientific Games (NASDAQ: SGMS) ("Scientific Games" or the "Company") today announced a new partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and Gracie Films to create a themed slot machine based on the longest running scripted television series THE SIMPSONS. The never before seen Gamescape cabinet will be officially unveiled in Scientific Games' booth #1126 at the Global Gaming Expo ("G2E"), taking place from September 29 to October 1. The slot theme will star Homer and Marge Simpson, Moe, Apu, Chief Wiggum and many other iconic characters from the show.

"THE SIMPSONS game on our new Gamescape cabinet combines one of the most recognizable and beloved brands in the world with some of the greatest innovations in the gaming industry," said Derik Mooberry, Scientific Games' Group Chief Executive, Gaming.

"We are extremely proud to work closely with Fox Consumer Products and Gracie Films on the development of this game, and believe players around the globe will be thrilled with the experience."

"Our teams worked extremely hard to ensure the first SIMPSONS-themed slot machine is a true testament to the brand, providing a truly immersive experience," said Jeffrey Godsick, President of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products. "With dynamic new content, attention to detail -and a few surprises- Scientific Games is creating an entertaining gaming experience that we know fans will enjoy."

The pioneering Gamescape cabinet utilizes three vivid, high-definition displays that angle toward the player, and a 40-inch curved top screen that surrounds the player. Additionally, an ergonomic 10.4-inch tablet button panel integrates gameplay to coordinate graphics across multiple displays. The result is five unique screens that virtually combine to create an expanded platform for stunning graphics and seamless motion.

Lighting around the edge of each display envelops the player. An integrated sound bar completes the sensory experience by delivering 3D stereo sound, without the need for a sound chair. The sound bar matches the width of the cabinet so that stereo sound moves not only from right to left but up and down as well.

Powerball® Redesign: Better Overall Odds of Winning a Prize

10X Feature Added When Starting Jackpots Are Lower

Changes Should Continue to Deliver Big Jackpots, Bump Up Other Significant Prizes

DOVER, Delaware (September 29, 2015) -- An updated version of the Powerball game will debut on Sunday, Oct. 4, with changes designed to continue to deliver big jackpots while upping some other significant prizes in the game.

Plays will still cost $2 each, and there will be better overall odds of winning any prize, a big jump up to $50,000 for the game's third prize level, and a chance for players to multiply most winnings by up to 10 times when the jackpot is $150 million or less.

"Powerball has been revamped several times in its 23-year history to continue to deliver the big jackpots people expect from the game, but also give players the chance to win other significant prizes," said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. "Our latest changes are designed to continue that trend and build in several new features."

Advertisement

Since getting its start in April 1992 in 15 states with jackpots that started at a guaranteed $2 million, Powerball has grown into one of the world's biggest and most recognizable lottery games. Today it's sold by 47 lotteries across the nation, with players buying more than $4 billion in Powerball tickets each year. The biggest jackpot in the game to date was a $590.5 million prize won by a Florida woman in May 2013.

With the game's success comes demand for innovation to keep things fresh. Kirk said that the latest changes are the eighth revamp of the game.

"Players have told us they'd like to see new features in Powerball, and we needed a redesign to make that possible," he said.

The first drawing with the new features will be on Wednesday, Oct. 7. There will be changes to both sets of numbers that players use. Players will choose their first five numbers from a set of 69 (currently 59) white balls and their Powerball from a pool of 26 (currently 35) red balls. The end result will be better overall odds of winning any prize with extended odds of winning the jackpot.

Powerball jackpots will continue to start at $40 million and the game's second prize for matching the first five numbers but missing the Powerball will still be $1 million. The game's third prize level is getting a five-fold increase from $10,000 to $50,000 for matching four of the first five numbers and the Powerball.

Advertisement

The game's Power Play® option also will get a big expansion with a 10X feature when jackpots in the game are at lower levels. Currently, players can multiply many prizes by up to five times by adding the Power Play option to their purchase for an extra $1 per play. Under the new design, the Power Play option will be expanded to multiply most prizes (except the jackpot and Match 5 level) by up to 10 times whenever the game's advertised annuitized jackpot is $150 million or less. The Match 5 prize of $1 million will continue to double to $2 million with the Power Play added.

"The 10X feature in the Power Play has been used in short-term promotions in the past and players have always liked it, so we're keeping it as an enhancement to the game," Kirk said.

Starting Oct. 7, the Power Play numbers available will be 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X and 10X when the jackpot is $150 million or less. Only the first four multipliers will be in play when the jackpot is higher than that.

Powerball drawings will continue to be held at 10:59 p.m. Eastern on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Kentucky Lottery Sales 9% Ahead of Last Year, Slightly Below Budget

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (September 25, 2015) -- In today's meeting of the Kentucky Lottery's board of directors, it was announced sales for the first two months of FY16 (July and August) were $153.1 million. This is $12.9 million (or 9.2%) more than the same period last year, and just $631,000 less than budget.

Scratch-off tickets continued their strong performance, turning in sales in this period of $97 million. This is $9.4 million (10.8%) more than the same period last year and $3.1 million (3.3%) more than budget.

According to Vice President of Finance and Administration Rick Kelley, the strongest percentage sales increase came from the daily Pick 3 game.

Advertisement

This category saw an 11.6% increase in sales from the previous fiscal year, closing the period at $23.5 million. "Popular sets of numbers being drawn in July that our players really like - such as consecutive digits - led to an additional 3.3% in prize payments for the game," said Kelley. "However, sales tend to go up after an event such as this, and it's definitely the trend we've seen in Pick 3."

While Powerball and Mega Millions sales for the two months continued to trend downward (Powerball sales were $3.2 million below budget and Mega Millions sales were $1.3 million below budget), Kelley said an ongoing Powerball jackpot run is helping generate increased sales. The jackpot for Saturday's drawing is an estimated $267 million.

Income before transfer of dividends was $37.7 million for July and August, $1.1 million more than last year but $275,000 less than budget.

In other business, the board approved:

  • A lease renewal for the Prestonsburg regional office and storage space.
  • Negotiations for a contract with ADP as the apparent successful offeror to the RFP for web-based payroll and human resources integrated solutions and related services;
  • An amendment to the current contract with Bandy Carroll Hellige for advertising and related services to include social media strategy and content creation, and;
  • Rules and regulations for 13 scratch-off tickets, iLottery game rules and amended Powerball game rules.

The next meeting of the KLC's board of directors will be Thursday November 19. The meeting will begin at 9:30 AM EST, and will be held at the KLC headquarters at 1011 West Main Street in Louisville. Committee meetings will begin at 8:30 AM EST.

Fastrak’s POD Dispensers Are a Success for the Irish Lottery

LONDON, U.K. (September 23, 2015) -- The Fastrak Lottery Services POD Scratch Card Dispensing system is unique, highly innovative and manufactured from materials such as, ABS plastic, polycarbonate plastic and PETG. It’s a fully modular dispensing assemble that provides a completely flexible and secure unit, whilst ensuring simple, and easy to use retail merchandising and ticket dispensing.

Our many years of experience in the lottery market has paid dividends when it came to designing the optimum scratch card and instant ticket dispensing system.

One significant key feature is that customers can clearly and easily see the game, the cost of play and the prize opportunity. It is a known fact that this facilitates increases in sales at point of purchase. Additionally the branding and accessory range we offer allows individual lottery operators to create a unique and effective display in line with their specific brand guidelines.

The solution allows our clients to select from a ‘menu’ of products and accessories that incorporates everything from a simple printed header to integrated and digital messaging for marketing and jackpot communication.

As part of a wider marketing campaign the Irish National Lottery awarded Fastrak Retail with the contract to provide a complete solution to refresh and revitalise scratchcard merchandising and dispensing systems throughout their National estate.

The projects primary objective was to increase instant ticket sales over the estate by retrofitting our unique POD solutions into widely varying retail outlets. This meant that one off the most challenging objectives was to design a mounting solution that would offer a completely flexible mounting options with one generic component / assembly.

This was achieved by designing a multi directional base plate that could be quickly and easily changed in line with store requirements at point of install.

The system allows left or right hand horizontal mounting in addition to the option to secure the plate vertically which was a known requirement where the unit was located behind / above the in-store waterfall confectionery display.

The feedback from our client was extremely exciting. Sales increases of up to 50% were experienced in some stores.

A great example of how innovative retail design within the Iottery POS market influences customer interaction and sales.

Arkansas Lottery: Six Years of Big Wins, Big Money, and Bigger Opportunity for Arkansas.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (September 26, 2015) -- With over 200,000 Arkansas students awarded over a half a billion dollars in lottery-funded Academic Challenge Scholarships, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery is celebrating six full years of big wins and big opportunities for higher education and an educated, higher-earning workforce.

"Before that first ticket was bought on September 28, 2009, we could only guess at what this lottery could do for our state," Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Director Bishop Woosley said. "Everyone had an opinion, but no one-the taxpayers who overwhelmingly voted for it, the lawmakers who designed it, the Arkansas Lottery staff and management that worked night and day to get that first ticket up for sale-no one knew for sure what that first day would be like."

Winners have made the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery great! Those include the students that have started college, in the state, this year and those that have already graduated as recipients of a lottery funded scholarship. Along with the students that have secured and enjoyed the benefits of lottery scholarship funding, the players of Arkansas have won big as well.

Advertisement
Schafer Systems Inc.

Since the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery began selling tickets on September 28, 2009, one player from Beebe won $3 Million in Mega Millions®, five players throughout the state have won $2 MILLION each. Another thirty-five Arkansas players have each won a $1 Million prize. In total to date, the Arkansas Lottery has created forty-three millionaires in the past six years, including the $25 MILLION Powerball® winner from Conway.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has had a multiplier effect for education and the economy of Arkansas. Lottery tickets have funded scholarships that help pay for college degrees. College degrees build talent. Talented citizens help Arkansas compete on the global stage for good jobs and new business. With every lottery ticket an Arkansan chooses to buy, we have invested in each other and the future of students across the state.

Bishop Woosley, who joined the Lottery staff in July 2009, said part of the gamble in 2009 was an economy still unsteady after a year of recession. "Had we thought more about what was working against us, we might have wished for more time," Woosley said. "But the mandate of the voters and the General Assembly was clear: Get it done now, Get it done fast, Get it done right. We had just over 1,200 retailers across the state who stepped up to sell our tickets, and they have been the 'driving force' ever since."

To validate the efforts put forth by the retailers, staff and citizens of Arkansas, the $2.63 Billion plus in net ticket sales earned since start-up in September 2009, the vast majority of the ticket sales has gone right back into Arkansas in the form of retail commissions, prizes and scholarships equal to 95 cents of every dollar spent on lottery tickets.

In the past six years, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has built a track record of sales far beyond those anticipated on that September 28th morning in 2009. Here is the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, at six years, by the numbers:

  • $529.9 MILLION* in net proceeds, providing scholarships for more than 200,000 Arkansas residents pursuing opportunities and advancement through higher education at Arkansas's 47 public and private nonprofit colleges and universities; [*Net proceeds earned from Sept. 2009 to August 2015]
  • $2.634 BILLION in net ticket sales;
  • $1.668 BILLION in prizes paid on tickets purchased in Arkansas;
  • Over $1 MILLION in unpaid personal income tax and unpaid child support deducted from claims and returned to Arkansas taxpayers;
  • $11.5 MILLION in Arkansas state income tax and $41.6 million in Federal income tax paid on Lottery winnings;
  • $1.26 MILLION in average daily ticket sales and cashing commissions paid to licensed Lottery Retailers selling tickets in communities statewide.
  • $148 MILLION in lottery retailer commissions earned statewide.

Advertisement

With six years now marked on the calendar , the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery is celebrating its Anniversary with a new look to the future and newer, bigger instant, draw, and multi-state game enhancements. And ad campaigns that say "Thank you!" (look at what we have accomplished together), to the people of Arkansas for playing the Lottery and making higher education a reality for more Arkansas students.

Tickets for our newest game, Lucky For Life went on sale in January of 2015, offering players a top prize of up to $1,000 a day for life. The second level top prize of $25,000 a year for life was just won this month, by a player from Benton, Arkansas.

The Arkansas Only game, the Natural State Jackpot just had its second highest prize ever ($345,000), won by a player from North Little Rock. The lottery has proven to be a winning combination of the students and citizens of Arkansas taking home a whole host of benefits from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery each year. The seventh year is now under way, to add even more to the impressive list of accomplishments that have benefited all of Arkansas over the past six years.

Thank you Arkansas!

New State Lottery Ads Tell the Story of Real Life Lottery-Scholarship Recipients

COLUMBIA, South Carolina (September 18, 2015) – For many the Lottery is more than a game, it’s a ticket to an education. And a new series of commercials the South Carolina Education Lottery began airing this week tell this story like none before.

Real South Carolinians, not actors, star in the three, 60-second commercials. Few words are spoken in the ads that take viewers on a visual journey profiling the life experiences of three individuals touched by lottery scholarships—a University of South Carolina student, the grandmother of a Midlands Technical College graduate, and a cancer researcher and graduate of Clemson University.

The commercials close with the tagline, “The impact of an education is beyond words.

Leslie Bruce, a geology student and LIFE scholarship recipient at the University of South Carolina, along with her professor Dr. David Barbeau invited the Lottery to chronicle their travels to a dig site in Utah. Through Bruce’s eyes we feel the excitement of packing your bags, hiking trails and excavating in the desert before coming home to graduation.

Today Bruce is studying for her master’s in geology.

In another ad, we watch as Barbara Wallace opens the screen door for her granddaughter, Tameeka, who has just learned of her acceptance to Midlands Technical College. The story line follows the grandmother as she watches Tameeka’s progression through school and culminates with an emotional scene where Tameeka takes off her graduation cap and places it atop her grandmother’s head.

Stephen Shuford’s story is a poignant, personal one.

After graduating from Clemson University with the help of a lottery scholarship, Shuford takes a job with KIYATEC, a cancer research firm in Greenville that works with Greenville Health System. Shuford is identified in the ad as a Cancer “scientist,” but that word disappears and is replaced with cancer “survivor.”

To date, over 1.4 million lottery-funded scholarships have been awarded to South Carolina’s students

The Health Lottery Launch Affiliate Program in Partnership with Income Access

LONDON, U.K. (September 30, 2015) -- The Health Lottery, a London, U.K.-based lottery brand operated by Northern and Shell and comprising 51 local society lotteries representing local authority areas across the country, has re-launched its affiliate programme in partnership with Income Access, a technology and digital marketing services provider for the global iGaming industry. The Health Lottery’s new affiliate programme has integrated with Income Access’ award-winning affiliate management platform and will be managed by the company’s in-house team.

Launched in 2011 and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, The Health Lottery, which is today the UK’s most popular lottery after the National Lottery, provides lottery games to players online or at 32,000 national retail outlets. Offering British players the most affordable lottery option in the country, the brand features a 50 pence ticket that provides the chance to win £25,000 every Tuesday and Friday as well as a £1 ticket allowing players to win up to £100,000 every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Generating over £68 million since launch for U.K. charities such as Mencap, Dementia UK, and the Alzheimer’s Society among others, The Health Lottery recently rebranded itself. In addition to new celebrity brand ambassador Anthea Turner, the rebranding has involved the re-launch of The Health Lottery’s affiliate programme, which will now be powered by Income Access’ affiliate management platform, the recipient of eGR’s B2B ‘Affiliate Software’ Award for the last three consecutive years.

To celebrate the re-launch of The Health Lottery’s affiliate programme, the brand is offering new affiliates a promotion when they register with the programme. During their first three months, they will receive a cash bonus for every new depositing player, as well as an ongoing 20% revenue share of the net gaming revenues (NGR) from these players.

Following the end of the promotion, affiliates’ commissions revert to a standard revenue share commission structure. They will receive 20% of the NGR on all new-depositing players they refer each month.

The Health Lottery values its affiliates highly and we’ve therefore decided to re-launch our affiliate programme in partnership with Income Access, whose easy-to-use, top-of-the-line software will allow affiliates to maximize their earning potential promoting our brand,” said Stan Myerson, Joint Managing Director at Northern and Shell. “Income Access’ long-standing reputation in the gaming industry and in affiliate management will help support The Health Lottery’s entry into new markets.”

The affiliate programme for The Health Lottery will be managed by Income Access’ team of affiliate managers, who have multiple years’ experience managing brands in the European lottery vertical.

We’re excited to support The Health Lottery’s acquisition via the affiliate channel with a programme managed by our internal team using our platform,” said Nicky Senyard, founder and CEO of Income Access. “Given the brand’s prestige and importance in the UK market, its new-look affiliate programme provides an important revenue opportunity for not just lottery affiliates but those working in other verticals as well.”
