The Australasian Gaming Expo Starts Tomorrow, Tuesday 11 August

SYDNEY, Australia (August 4, 2015) -- 175 exhibitors, including 35 exhibiting for the first time, are ready to impress with the world's best and latest technology and services.

In particular, with some GTA members becoming larger and more 'international', their expanded product range will bring new gaming machines and games not seen before to the event.

And with two new casinos announced recently for Australia - and 15 more scheduled in the Asia-Pacific region in the next 5 years - now is the time for buyers to connect with sellers, to think about what the industry will look like in 5 years' time and what they will need to succeed.

Pollard Banknote's Exclusive Frogger Instant Ticket Gets A Second Successful Life In Idaho

BOISE, Idaho / WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada (August 5, 2015) -- Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) ("Pollard Banknote") is pleased to announce the successful second launch of the Idaho Lottery's $5 instant scratch game, Frogger. The Idaho Lottery is experiencing déjà vu, with this follow-up game's success rivaling that of the first launch. After five weeks on the market, Frogger's average weekly sales were 77% higher than the average sales of all other $5 games launched in Idaho since 2012!.

The Lottery's second Frogger instant scratch game-launched on April 27, 2015-features refreshed ticket art and three unique ticket designs, each with a different set of obstacles. Similar to the Lottery's first Frogger game, Lottery fans can play a 'ribbiting' online version that mimics the original arcade video game published and licensed by Konami Digital Entertainment ("KONAMI").

For an added element of excitement and competitive fun, this time around the Frogger interactive game offers a leaderboard, allowing players to see where they rank among the top 20 scores. The players who are best at guiding the frog home safely and quickly are rewarded; the top three scorers each week win a Frogger prize pack! All non-winning Frogger instant scratch tickets may also be entered into a weekly draw for a chance to win $100.

Both of the Idaho Lottery's Frogger game launches have been supported by retail point-of-sale materials and television, radio, and digital advertising.

"Our first Frogger Scratch Game™ was the Idaho Lottery's top-selling $5 game of all time. Given the chance to add a second edition to bolster this year's fiscal year-end sales, we jumped at the opportunity," said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. "Frogger has a very broad reach. The brand's nostalgic appeal attracts existing players, particularly those among the Lottery's dedicated extended play fans. Frogger also engages a new, younger demographic who have been introduced to the brand more recently on home game consoles. Working collaboratively with Pollard Banknote, both Frogger games have boosted our sales and dividends to support our good causes in Idaho."

"The performance of Idaho Lottery's second Frogger game adds to the many North American success stories to date. It demonstrates that, with a powerful, well-recognized brand and some minor modifications to the ticket art and accompanying marketing and promotional program, a licensed instant game can maintain player excitement and engagement over time. The Frogger brand has proven its ability to perform exceptionally well throughout multiple launches-so other lotteries should consider this when looking for proven strategies," said Sina Aiello, Vice President, Marketing, Pollard Banknote.

The mission of the Idaho Lottery is to responsibly provide entertaining games with a high degree of integrity to maximize the dividends for public schools and the State's permanent buildings. Since the Lottery's inception in 1989, it has sold over $2.95 billion in products and distributed more than $694.5 million in Lottery dividends to state public schools and buildings.

State-Owned Lottery Company Report Improved Performance Over Previous Year

Veikkaus Post Financial Result Over EUR 520 million

HELSINKI, Finland (July 31, 2015) -- Veikkaus Oy improved its performance 2.8 percent over the previous year in 2014, posting a financial result of EUR 520.4 million. Our turnover for the financial year 2014 was EUR 1 959.5 million (+5.4%). The product group to increase the most was that of the Daily Games. This seems to be in line with the present-day trend, where gaming is turning more often towards games with higher event frequency.

The shift in consumer behaviour is also reflected as a strong increase in the digital sales channels. The share of the digital channels exceeded 40 percent of the total sales for the first time ever in 2014.

Advertisement is one of the biggest consumer web stores in Finland with its turnover of EUR 789.6 million (+17.1%).

The shift in consumer behaviour is also reflected as a strong increase in the digital sales channels. The share of the digital channels exceeded 40 percent of the total sales for the first time ever in 2014. is one of the biggest consumer web stores in Finland with its turnover of EUR 789.6 million (+17.1%).

In addition to its return to the State, Veikkaus paid a total of EUR 104.2 million in Lottery Tax (+4.4%) and EUR 22.5 million (+2.8%) in VAT. The prize payout to players totalled EUR 1 096.4 million (+7.2%). The retail commissions amounted to EUR 78.0 million (-2.2%).

In addition to pursuing financial goals, Veikkaus engages in long-term work to promote responsible gaming

Responsibility was strongly present in our operations in 2014. At the beginning of the year, we updated our core responsibility tools and in the autumn, we carried out a prominent campaign to raise people's awareness of the risk of gambling addiction. We bear our responsibility in preventing the harmful side effects of gaming, says Mr Koponen.

The expenses incurred by the measures to promote responsible gaming amounted to EUR 3.8 million in 2014.

Eurojackpot – Finn's new favourite

Over 1.6 million, or one third of adult Finns, are registered as Veikkaus customers. A total of over 98 200 Finns joined our customer loyalty programme in 2014. More and more of our players play registered, which helps to promote responsibility and consumer protection. Registered gaming represented 57.3% (+3.6 percentage points) of Veikkaus' total sales at the end of the year.

The Jackpot Games reached a turnover of EUR 777.6 million (-2.4%). In this games group, Eurojackpot posted exceptionally high sales figures during the year under review. The turnover of this multinational game amounted to EUR 160.5 million (+50.8%). Eurojackpot's sales and player numbers were boosted especially by the historically big jackpots that were landed in Finland, the biggest of which were as huge as EUR 57.3 million in April and EUR 61.2 million in September.

Finland's most popular lottery game Lotto's turnover was EUR 431.1 million (-10.3%). A core reason for the decrease was that after a record-high jackpot (EUR 13.3 million) drawn in April, there were no big jackpots available in Lotto. Sizeable jackpots add significantly to random playing, having a great effect on the development of the turnover.

The product group to grow the fastest, that of the Daily Games, reached a turnover of EUR 754.1 million (+14.7%). The games to increase in popularity the most were the digital games on our web service, especially the eInstants. A large number of Finns became familiar with the new Neighbours game, launched in the spring.

The Sports Games attained a turnover of EUR 427.8 million (+5.9%). The growth engine in this games group was our most popular sports game Fixed Odds Betting, revised in May.

Towards the 75th anniversary with bold reforms

Veikkaus is committed to pursuing steady, moderate growth and reinforcing responsible operations in different sectors. Changes in regulations and the general economical situation continue to be core factors of uncertainty potentially affecting our operations. Also, gaming provision operated illegally over the Internet and falling beyond the scope of official supervision will influence our future development.

We trust that our long-term development and bold reform policy will guarantee a steady return that will benefit all Finns even in the future. We also believe that we will be able to post an even better result in 2015, says Mr Koponen.

Veikkaus celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. Our aim for the celebratory year is to highlight even better all the good things that the proceeds of Veikkaus games can achieve, bringing joy to the lives of all Finns. For doing these good things, Veikkaus wants to thank its customers and game sales staff by organizing various events and occasions around the country during the anniversary year.

About Veikkaus Oy (

Veikkaus has provided joy, entertainment, and excitement to Finnish players for seventy years. In 2011, Veikkaus’ turnover amounted to nearly EUR 18 billion. Veikkaus generates ten million euros every week for the benefit of Finnish arts, sports, science, and youth work. The funds are distributed by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.

To date, the Sports Lottery terminal business of the Company has expanded to cover 13 provinces and regions across China.

Of these four provinces, Yunnan and Henan were first wins, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was a second win, and Gansu was a fourth win. Henan Sports Lottery sales exceeded RMB 8 billion in 2014 and approached RMB 4.8 billion from January to June 2015, respectively ranking 7th and 5th nationwide.

Inner Mongolia Sports Lottery sales maintained strong growth of 35.6% year-on-year in spite of overall nationwide Sports Lottery sales growth slowing to 6.2% from January to June 2015.

Over the past three years, Gansu Sports Lottery sales growth reached a compound annual growth rate (“CAGR”) of 52%, far exceeding the approximately 20% CAGR of the Sports Lottery market and overall lottery market.

The outstanding performance of these provincial lottery markets is set to drive the development of the Company’s Computer-generated Ticket Game (“CTG”) business.

Since Lottnal became a qualified Sports Lottery CTG terminal supplier in 2013, it has successively won bids over the past two years. This year, it became the top selling Sports Lottery supplier, with a nearly 30% share of nationwide Sports Lottery CTG terminal sales.

This is a reflection of the Sports Lottery authorities’ recognition of the Company, and is also a pleasing result of the Company’s further expansion of the Sports Lottery market and enhancement of its brand competitiveness.

Schafer Systems Inc. (SSI) - Finding Retail Solutions

ADAIR, Iowa (August 3, 2015) -- This month many of you are beginning new fiscal years with new sales and beneficiary goals. We at Schafer Systems Inc. would love to help you find ways to increase your lottery presence at retail so you can exceed those goals.

We are very excited to show you the newest addition to our Ticket Menu Board product line.

Many retailers have been asking for lighted products and our product engineers designed this great new option with a curved display and low-energy LEDs. These new menu boards come in a variety of colors including red, blue and yellow as shown. Standard sizes fit 16, 24 or 30 4" x 4" display cards. Electrical outlet required.

LED Back Lit Menu Boards, in New Curve Design - Available from Schafer Systems Inc

Last fall, Pennsylvania Lottery mentioned a display challenge at their newsstand retailers: customers couldn't always see which games were available because most tickets are dispensed from under-counter or back-counter displays. They were looking for a solution that could work in a limited space and clearly show customers the top games for sale.

SSI came up with a new, four-game Ticket Menu Board that attaches to newsstand windows using suction cups and is customized with the PA Lottery's logo.

Deputy Project Manager Floyd Wedderburn said retailers were delighted: "The overall grade from our retailers was an 'A+'. The overall consensus is that this new display influenced sales, is easier to see and causes less corrosion on the windows. Focusing on our retailers' needs is our number-one priority -- and this was a need that was met."

SSI looks forward to seeing many of you at the NASPL '15 Annual Conference and Trade Show in Dallas!

Please feel free to contact Shay or Teresa to discuss how SSI can exeed your display expectations.

New Game Style Adds Fast Fun for New Jersey Lottery Players

Fast Pass for Fast Play Free Tolls on AC Expressway

TRENTON, New Jersey (July 31, 2015) - The New Jersey Lottery announced a new game style called Fast Play, launching on Aug. 2, at all Lottery retail locations.

Fast Play games are quick play games that are printed instantly from the retailers' terminals or printed from the self-service vending machines. There are no numbers to pick or cards to scratch. The tickets include a game board and winning numbers for the player to match and win. Play instructions are printed on every ticket. Players simply ask for a Fast Play game by name or provide a Fast Code, which is a game-specific bar code, for scanning by the retailer or at the Lottery vending machine.

"Fast Play is an exciting new game style that offers players fast-paced games with immediate results and cash payouts," said Carole Hedinger, New Jersey Lottery Executive Director. "Various game themes and price points keep the Fast Play games engaging to play and loaded with cash prizes."

To celebrate the games, Hedinger will initiate the Fast Pass for Fast Play Friday event at a press conference held on Friday, Aug. 14 at the Farley Service Plaza, at 8:30 am. (see directions below). Drivers on the Atlantic City Expressway, passing through the Egg Harbor Eastbound Toll Plaza, cash or EZ Pass, will have their tolls paid in full on Fast Pass for Fast Play Friday, between 9 am and 10 am.

"The Fast Pass for Fast Play Friday event is a perfect way to introduce the Fast Play games to the public," Hedinger said. "Playing the Fast Play games is fun, quick and easy, just like rolling through a free toll."

All Fast Play games have individualized instructions on how to play the game printed on the ticket. The game rules are simple and clear but offer an element of complexity to keep them intriguing. The prize structures vary by game, but all winning tickets, with prizes under $600, are available for immediate validation and cashing at a Lottery retail location. Prizes of $600 or greater can be claimed by mailing the claimant-signed, winning ticket, completed claim form and validation receipt to Lottery Headquarters for processing.

There will be four games available at launch at the following ticket prices: Fast Cash ($1), Red Hot Numbers ($1), Slots of Fun ($2), and Bling Bling Bucks ($5). The prize opportunities range from $1 up to $25,000, varying by game. Each game has a unique playing style such as number matching, symbol matching, or prize amount matching. New games will be added every four to six weeks offering new opportunities for fast fun

Record Scratch-Game Sales Lead Successful Iowa Lottery Results For Year

DES MOINES, Iowa (July 31, 2015) -- Record sales of instant-scratch tickets led the Iowa Lottery to achieve annual results among the Top 4 in its 30-year history, with the purchase and move of its headquarters location also completed on time and under budget in its latest fiscal year.

Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich announced the lottery's fiscal year 2015 results on Thursday, noting that total lottery sales topped $300 million for the fourth straight year while proceeds to state causes and prizes to players also were among the lottery's best.

"Our scratch-ticket sales led the way to some really strong numbers for the year," Rich said. "We've concentrated on diversifying our product mix in the field and keeping a variety of games on the market to give customers choices. We do our best to take care of the behind-the-scenes work so our players can just have fun and dream a little."

The preliminary figures released Thursday show that lottery sales in FY 2015 totaled nearly $325 million. Proceeds to state causes totaled $74.5 million, the fourth-highest amount for the lottery since its start in 1985. Prizes to players totaled nearly $197 million, the second-highest total in the lottery's history, and nearly a $10 million increase from the previous year.

"We're running a strong operation based upon best practices," Rich said. "Like any business, we know our numbers will fluctuate from year to year, but we anticipate that the lottery will continue on an upward trend."

Iowa Lottery Board chair Matt McDermott of West Des Moines said that just as importantly, the past year's events provided ongoing opportunities for the lottery to highlight integrity, a cornerstone of its operations.

"The legal proceedings that culminated with this month's trial in the Hot Lotto jackpot investigation highlighted the layers of security within the lottery's operations," said McDermott, a shareholder at Belin McCormick law firm in Des Moines. "The case provided the lottery with the opportunity to better identify potential security risks and update its procedures to protect against them. We understand that the lottery's business model must continue to anticipate as many known impacts as possible - and the unknown stressors that will crop up."

The lottery's unaudited figures show that its $74.5 million in proceeds to state causes were about 8.5 percent ahead of budget for the year and up about 1 percent from the previous year's total of $73.9 million. The lottery's combined sales of $324.8 million from its core products of lotto, scratch and pull-tab games were up 3.4 percent from the previous year's total of $314.1 million.

A highlight of the lottery's FY 2015 results was the $2.2 million it raised for the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund to benefit our state's veterans and their families. The lottery now has raised nearly $17.4 million for the Trust Fund since it began providing proceeds to that cause in 2008.

Sales of instant-scratch tickets, the first product introduced by the lottery and always one of its top-selling items, set a yearly record at nearly $212 million. The previous record for scratch sales was $202.3 million back in FY 2013.

Rich also thanked retailers for their work in selling lottery products in FY 2015, noting that local businesses across the state received nearly $21 million in sales commissions from the lottery.

The lottery completed the purchase of its headquarters location in Clive during the year and began operations there in December, moving from its previous headquarters location in Des Moines. The real estate purchase was paid for with lottery revenues in FY 14 and FY 15, producing no outstanding debt and providing the lottery with the stability and value of a property on the western side of the Des Moines metro area.

Here is a year-to-year comparison of annual lottery sales by product:

Product FY 2015 FY 2014
Scratch Games $212 million $188.8 million
Pick 3 $7 million $6.9 million
Powerball $52.2 million $61.2 million
Mega Millions $18 million $21.8 million
Hot Lotto $11.1 million $10.4 million
Raffle game* ---- $0.2 million
Pick 4 $3.2 million $3.2 million
All or Nothing** $4.5 million $3.2 million
Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game ---- $2.5 million
Monopoly Millionaires' Club*** $.5 million ---
Pull-tabs $16 million $15.7 million

The lottery offers raffle games only occasionally, so there will be years, such as FY 2015, when it does not sell such a product. **The All or Nothing game replaced Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game in January 2014. ***The Monopoly Millionaires' Club game was introduced in October 2014 and ended sales in Iowa in December 2014.

Florida Lottery Has Best July on Record

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (August 3, 2015) -- The Florida Lottery has had its strongest start ever to the new fiscal year, with record sales for the month of July totaling $453.52 million. This surpassed the previous July high of $415.34 million in 2014 by 9.1%, and generated approximately $117 million in transfers to the state's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Building off an all-time record high sales year for fiscal year 2014-15, the Lottery's July sales figures represent all product offerings, with Scratch-Off sales being primarily responsible for the record numbers.

"The Florida Lottery is proud to continue making great strides that benefit so many in our state," said Lottery Secretary Cynthia O'Connell.

"We remain focused on our mission to maximize revenues for the educational programs we fund, by continuing to explore new product offerings that will generate enthusiasm among our players, increase sales for our retail partners and grow revenues for education," said Secretary O'Connell.

The recent launch of the WEEK FOR LIFE Family of Scratch-Off games has been highly successful, due in large part to the robust marketing campaign surrounding these games. The $10, $5, $2 and $1 Scratch-Off games each ranked number one in their price point for all games ever launched in the month of June. The sales success carried over into the month of July, with total sales for these games surpassing $69 million. In total, 35 different Florida Lottery Scratch-Off games exceeded $1 million in sales for the month, including seven games that surpassed more than $10 million each in sales.

Last week, the Revenue Estimating Conference (REC) met to determine fiscal year 2015-16 goals for the Lottery. Their forecast included Lottery ticket sales of $5.6861 billion this fiscal year, with an estimated EETF transfer of $1.5077 billion.

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $28 billion to education and sending more than 700,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests nearly 98 percent of its revenue back into Florida's economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 Florida retailers and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid more than $46 billion in prizes and made more than 1,400 people millionaires.

TRENTON, N.J. (August 4, 2015) – Leaders of the New Jersey Lottery and the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey met today at Acme Market, 2497 Brunswick Ave., a Lottery retailer located in Lawrenceville, NJ, to kick off the annual “Not 18 Yet? Carole Hedinger, Executive Director, New Jersey Lottery and Neva Pryor, Executive Director, Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, Inc. (CCGNJ), renewed their organizations’ commitment to responsible play and the prevention of underage gambling. The “Not 18 Yet? The New Jersey Lottery has a longstanding commitment to promoting responsible play and discouraging underage gambling of any kind,” said Carole Hedinger. “We have an active partnership with the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey and support their efforts to prevent underage gambling.

As part of its effort, the New Jersey Lottery has developed a “Not 18 Yet? No Bet” brochure aimed at retailers and players that provides information about the major types of teen betting, as well as ways to recognize signs of a gambling problem early on. The brochure also tells concerned individuals where to go for advice and help. It is available at each of the more than 7,000 Lottery retailer locations, at all Lottery-sponsored exhibits and events and through the website. Today, the Lottery provided the Council on Compulsive Gambling with additional “Not 18 Yet?
