Lottery Retail Gift Cards to Debut in North America

Scientific Games and InComm Bring Fun and Entertainment of Lottery Games to Gift Cards

logo

LAS VEGAS and ATLANTA (October 16, 2015) -- Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS) today announced that its subsidiary, Scientific Games International, Inc. ("Scientific Games"), has signed a five-year contract with InComm, an Atlanta-based leading provider of prepaid and payment solutions, to provide lottery gift cards in North America.

The agreement will enable Scientific Games' lottery customers to reach new consumers through a retail shopping experience in lottery jurisdictions across the continent.

Pat McHugh, Senior Vice President, North American Lottery Systems for Scientific Games, said, "Imagine being able to give the fun and entertainment of lottery games with the convenience of a gift card. InComm is on the leading edge of commerce technology with strong retail partnerships.

Their payment network and retail footprint, combined with Scientific Games' lottery solutions, offers lotteries a way to reach new consumers who may like to purchase lottery games and help drive incremental revenue for lottery beneficiaries such as local retailers, education, senior citizens, infrastructure and the environment."

The $73.8 billion (U.S.) North American lottery industry currently includes 55 state and provincial lotteries and nearly 270,000 lottery retailers.

Scott Meyerhoff, Chief Operating Officer of  InComm, said, "The ways consumers purchase and use gift cards is rapidly changing. In addition to being bought on special occasions for family and friends, gift cards are also bought year-round for self-use. Our agreement with Scientific Games is visionary for the North American lottery industry in many ways, particularly resonating with consumers who prefer cashless transactions at retail."

While lottery retail networks are managed by individual lotteries, McHugh said that lottery retail locations generally do not overlap with InComm's 250,000 retail gift card distribution locations throughout North America, which could offer new retail channel opportunities and provide more consumer exposure to lottery games.

Consumers can purchase InComm's single-load prepaid gift cards to fit their needs, whether for a gift or personal use. The gift cards can be used at any participating lottery retailer that has been authorized by a state lottery offering the gift card.

POLLARD BANKNOTE'S Exclusive Awkward Family Photos® License Guaranteed to Help Lotteries Create Awkward Fun for Players

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, (October 19, 2015) -- Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) ("Pollard Banknote"), a leading lottery partner that provides instant tickets, interactive solutions, and marketing support, is pleased to announce the addition of Awkward Family Photos®-an internet sensation that explores those perfectly imperfect family snapshots-to its portfolio of licensed brands. With a strong social media presence, the addition of this wacky and whimsical brand to a lottery's ticket lineup will entertain and delight players while expanding the lottery's player base across new demographic groups.

The idea for the Awkward Family Photos® ("AFP®") website was conceived by two childhood friends. After seeing an awkward vacation photo hanging in one of their parents' homes, they discovered that they weren't the only ones with cringe-worthy family moments caught on film. So they decided to create a place where people could share their own hilariously unforgettable, embarrassing family photos. The family-friendly site launched in 2009 and quickly took off-a celebration of awkwardness that has quickly become a global phenomenon.

The brand has been featured on major media outlets, including ABC, NBC, CNN.com, Time.com, NBC.com, and the home pages of MSN, Yahoo, and AOL

Under this exclusive license, Pollard Banknote now has access to over 1,300 images to help lotteries create instant tickets featuring fun-filled family shots. By leveraging the brand's overwhelming popularity online, lotteries will have the opportunity to offer unique second chance draws and other exciting interactive features to maximize player engagement. Furthermore, because the AFP® brand extensions include an app, board games, and calendars, lotteries can explore a variety of marketing options in partnership with Pollard Banknote's licensed products team.

"Pollard Banknote is very excited to exclusively offer Awkward Family Photos® to our lottery clients," noted Sina Aiello, Pollard Banknote's Vice President, Marketing. NASPL, NCPG Announce Responsible Gambling Verification Program for Lotteries

GENEVA, Ohio (October 20, 2015) - The North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) today announced a new responsible gambling framework and independent verification program for its member lotteries. Partnering with NASPL in this important effort is the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG).

"The recognition of problem gambling issues within the lottery industry over the course of the past decade has been nothing short of remarkable," said NASPL Executive Director David Gale. "Whereas at one point it was considered a taboo subject that shouldn't be openly addressed, we have evolved now to launch what I consider a crowning achievement of NASPL."

Lotteries have certainly taken the lead in responsible gambling programs in the United States. "For the first time a segment of the U.S. gambling industry has adopted a responsible gaming framework and independent verification process," said NCPG Executive Director Keith Whyte. "We congratulate NASPL members for their recognition of problem gambling and their embrace of responsible gaming."

The new program has three levels of verification. The first level ("Plan") is for lotteries that have not yet developed a robust responsible gambling program - by submitting an application at this level, lotteries will have experts in the field critique their plans and help them move towards the next level. The second level ("Implementation") assesses current programs and results for lotteries with more advanced responsible gambling programs. The third level ("Sustaining") will review Implementation verification every three years to ensure ongoing performance.

An independent assessment panel, under the guidance of the NCPG, will review all applications for verification. The eight areas of assessment include research, employee training, retailer training, player education, new/existing product oversight, budget, advertising and engagement/awareness.

Four American lotteries will be selected to participate in the pilot program. "The first wave of lotteries is being limited as we want to ensure the procedures and infrastructure are in place for the program to be successful," said Alice Garland, chair of the NASPL Responsible Gambling Committee and Executive Director of the North Carolina Education Lottery. Lotteries wishing to be part of the pilot program must provide a short initial statement to the NCPG by October 30. That statement should indicate why their lottery should be considered for the pilot and that they are willing to help other jurisdictions participate in the process.

The NCPG will select the four lotteries in early November, and their applications will be accepted in mid-January. It is expected that the first round of verification results will be announced in March 2016 after evaluation by the independent assessment panel.

At that time, NASPL and the NCPG will begin a review of the entire process. "Once we make sure everything is in place to move forward, all U.S. lotteries will be invited to participate," said Garland.

NOVOMATIC Scales New Heights at G2E

LAS VEGAS (October 19, 2015) -- Not only did NOVOMATIC’s brand new two level booth raise a physical bar at G2E in Las Vegas but so too, with the culmination of several important international deals, did the climate of expectation surrounding the company’s trans-Atlantic expansion in US markets rise to new heights.

As one of the world’s premiere gaming shows, G2E has, since its inception in 2001, been regarded as an unmissable event for gaming professionals and so NOVOMATIC, for its ‘world of gaming’ presented a total industry spectrum visitor experience that covered casino slots, lotteries, online, social gaming, mobile, PC and iTV, sports-betting, multiplayers, casino management systems and the VGT products produced specifically for the Illinois street market.

NOVOMATIC has established itself as a rising force in the US gaming supply chain and, as such, has risen to the challenge of bringing to market product lines that provide operators and their customers with attractions that are packed with gaming entertainment. At G2E, Austrian Gaming Industries (AGI) and the numerous Group subsidiary companies – including of course the recently expanded NOVOMATIC AMERICAS team – came together to ‘go live’ and excite the many business partners, customers and guests attending. In that objective, they were fully successful: demonstrating recent major advances in both product approvals and licensing and presenting product ranges with a clear emphasis on the Native American and VGT markets as well as traditional mainstream casinos; all part of NOVOMATIC’s determination to become a major supplier to US gaming markets.

This year’s booth space was divided 50/50 between US and international markets with the US team demonstrating market specific products such as the Action-Gaminator® machine or the new Magic Games™ Premium HD for the Video Gaming Terminal (VGT) market in the company’s home State of Illinois. Launched at G2E was the brand new innovative multi-game mix NOVO LINE™ Interactive X2E for traditional land based casinos.

As always, G2E in Las Vegas proved to be a magnet for visitors from Latin American countries and, in order to cater completely for these welcome arrivals representatives of the NOVOMATIC subsidiary companies in Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Panama as well as Honduras, Guatemala and Costa Rica were on hand to present their individual product portfolios and respond to the many enquiries received.

Set on split levels of the booth the NOVO LINE Novo Unity™ II display featured three live dealers – operating Novo TouchBet® Live-Baccarat, Novo TouchBet® Live-Black Jack and Novo TouchBet® Live-Roulette while a live DJ played music to suit the mood. Multiple large video screens gave booth visitors a panoramic view of the games in play. For additional variety NOVO LINE Novo Unity™ II also provided guests the possibility to play additional electronic live game (‘Flying’) versions, including Sic-Bo, Roulette and Poker as well as multiple thrilling slot games, directly at their seats.

Making its official US debut at the show, the Dominator® Curve was a major attraction as it is now soon to be rolled out for use in the US markets where NOVOMATIC AMERICAS is licensed and where the necessary final product approvals are pending. As a significant technology evolution of the original Dominator®, the Dominator® Curve takes up the twin brother’s successful concept and enhances its attractiveness with its own unique feature: the upright 40” full HD touchscreen that ideally places the player position exactly at the focal point of the curved screen and thus guarantees maximum impact gaming with sophisticated graphics and sound.

In terms of gaming entertainment the NOVOSTAR® V.I.P. II slant top is already a huge star on gaming floors around the world and this high end gaming experience featured prominently in Las Vegas. With its Crown V.I.P. chair, huge 50” LCD top screen, armrest-located additional Start/Take win & bet setting buttons, plus sound volume control and the FLIPSCREEN® feature the machine represents gaming in a truly grand style.

The Magic Joker Jackpot™ was presented in the Dominator® cabinet while the new Book of Ra™- Jackpot, that takes its name from the sensational NOVOMATIC hit game, was shown with the ever popular Super-V+ Gaminator® III.

The unique Panther Roulette™ II was yet another gaming attraction in Las Vegas; presenting its one of a kind experience where the guest is not just the player but also the ‘dealer’ thanks to the Pinball launch mechanism. Additionally Panther Roulette™ II gives the possibility for guests to switch between the main Roulette game and a choice of 23 HD slot games, all at the same machine.

Group subsidiary Octavian’s product presentation at G2E showcased the company’s internationally established products, such as the ACP Casino Management System (Accounting – Control – Progressives), the latest jackpot developments and a selection of innovative new Octo-Games.

Since 1991, under the brand name ADMIRAL, sports betting has been an integral and important sector of the NOVOMATIC Group. At G2E NOVOMATIC Sports Betting Solutions proudly presented the company’s market specific products, including systems, cabinets and Cash Desk for international markets.

Another important presentation at G2E came from NOVOMATIC Lottery Solutions (NLS), a sector in which the Group has made huge strides. Key members of the NLS team were on hand in Las Vegas to meet visitors and discuss the latest developments and innovations.

Presenting NOVOMATIC’s ‘third pillar’ of innovation and activity – the online gaming segment –the NOVOMATIC Interactive area of the G2E booth was packed with the latest innovations and developments for this, the currently fastest growing segment of the international gaming industry. The NOVOMATIC Interactive business division, under the umbrella of Greentube, is a market leading provider and operator of online, mobile and social gaming services in markets with a clearly defined legal framework in Europe, the U.S. and Australasia. During G2E it was announced that Greentube Pro, the turn-key white-label social casino marketing platform, will be the exclusive social casino platform for the world famous Foxwoods Resort Casino.

By implementing Greentube Pro, Foxwoods Resort Casino will leverage the expansive library of games offered by NOVOMATIC /Greentube. In addition, Foxwoods will benefit from Greentube’s advanced functionality and the ability to have a uniform brand presence on their social gaming site.

"Foxwoods’ leadership in the gaming industry makes them a perfect home for Greentube Pro,” said Thomas Graf, CEO of Greentube. “We are proud of our alliance with Foxwoods and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. We look forward to a long-term and mutually-beneficial relationship.

So, at the close of three frenetic show days NOVOMATIC could look back with considerable satisfaction on an event that had clearly succeeded in its primary objectives of presenting a total industry spectrum and also providing a dramatic launch pad for NOVOMATIC AMERICAS onwards into 2016. Based on the success of the show the level of anticipation regarding significant progress in US markets was sky high. As one team member succinctly remarked: “For NOVOMATIC AMERICAS, 2016 begins right here and right now.

Lottery Warns of New Scam Involving Facebook

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (October 22, 2015) - The Oklahoma Lottery Commission is warning Oklahomans of a new scam affecting Facebook users nationwide.

There is a post circulating on Facebook that allows users to click on a link taking them to a website claiming that Powerball is giving away a $1 million jackpot instantly. The website address includes various misspellings of Powerball, including "Powerbooll" and "Pawerball".

There is also a letter circulating with a fraudulent offer from the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) offering prizes of $2.5 million for a raffle promotion. The letter also mentions Powerball, Mega Millions, Publisher's Clearing House and Reader's Digest as contributors. One of the telephone numbers listed on the letter is (778) 710-0974.

"The information in the letters and Facebook posts is fraudulent and not associated with any officially recognized lottery," said Rollo Redburn, Executive Director. "No legitimate lottery organization will ask for up-front payment(s) in order to claim a prize." Redburn also pointed out a couple more things to remember: "When you play a lottery game, lottery employees don't know the identity of winners until they come forward to claim their prize; and, if you didn't buy a lottery ticket or personally enter a drawing, you won't be winning a lottery prize so don't respond to someone calling and asking for your personal information."

The Oklahoma Lottery security department urges anyone who receives a communication that could be a potential scam to contact the Attorney General's Office (405.521.3921) or the Federal Trade Commission (877.382.4357). If anyone receives messages similar to the above, they can call the lottery to verify the source at 405.522.7700.

Prizes exceeding $600 can be claimed at the Oklahoma Lottery Headquarters, any Authorized Lottery Claim Center or by mail. Prizes of $5,001 or more must be claimed through Lottery Headquarters in Oklahoma City.

About the Oklahoma Lottery

Net proceeds of all Lottery games are used to support improvements and enhancements for Oklahoma education. More than $699 million has been contributed to education since November 2005 with funds appropriated by the State Legislature to pay debt service on a higher education capital bond issue; to pay support salaries for public schools and for equipment, scholarships and other purposes at our career and technology education institutions.

Senior Management and RNGs (Random Number Generators)

EAST GREENWICH, Rhode Island (October 20, 2015) -- Lottery industry leaders are responsible for enforcing the integrity of their games which depends largely on the reliability and integrity of the RNG system that a lottery uses. With the recent conviction in Iowa and with further discoveries of RNG fraud cases in two other states, senior management is questioning the integrity of their own electronic drawing machines. As experts in lottery RNG systems and suppliers of a RNG system with 100% fraud detection, we propose a solution to RNG integrity and insider fraud detection.

Most of currently deployed electronic drawing systems use multiple levels of security: they are provided by independent suppliers, deployed in protected environments, secured with external and internal checks, certified by outside laboratories, and use independent parties to ensure the integrity of the draw process. While levels of protection differ between suppliers and operators and across different lotteries, all RNG systems share a risk of potential attack: they may be compromised by determined and skilled insiders.

JUMBO

The security director of MUSL, providing a RNG draw system, was able to defraud multiple lotteries despite their specific security measures. Another serious concern was that traces of fraud were not found on the respective draw systems. This lack of evidence does not indicate a lack of fraud but a lack of security within the RNG system. In fact, most RNG systems do not offer electronic solutions that fully detect draw fraud. Without being able to detect draw fraud lottery directors cannot ensure the integrity of their games! It is not acceptable to rely entirely on protective security measures, which are vulnerable to insider fraud, when there is a solution available that provides RNG fraud detection and proof of integrity.

The solution, Trusted Draw™ RNG system from Szrek2Solutions, ensures that every lottery draw can be protected. As part of the RNG process, Trusted Draw generates a tamper-proof draw seal to detect all draw fraud or prove draw integrity for every draw. Another independent system, Trusted Audit™, verifies the draw seal and will provide 100% accuracy even when the RNG system is compromised. Trusted Audit detects all RNG fraud and works for current and past draws, even going years back. Coupling Trusted Draw with Trusted Audit offers a state-of-the-art security solution to lotteries by defending them against dishonest insiders. This solution detects draw fraud and deters fraud by catching all attempts to break into the RNG system. The Trusted Draw RNG system has been certified many times for multiple games and has been deployed over twenty times for lotteries worldwide.

We appeal to all lottery leaders: in view of recent fraud discoveries in RNG systems, review your requirements and procurement practices for electronic drawing machines. Unless you require that your RNG solution proves integrity any time, independently from the RNG system, you will always be vulnerable to insider fraud. To protect your lottery and your players, demand RNG systems that offer 100% fraud detection and request verifiable, lasting proof of integrity for all conducted draws.

SYDNEY, Australia (October 21, 2015) -- The “Pokie Nation” documentary screened on ABC tonight presented no credible evidence about Australian poker machines. The program was unbalanced and consequently not credible.

Every Australian poker machine game is forensically audited by independent testing laboratories and by state and territory regulators before it is approved for use.

It is nonsense to suggest that laboratories and regulators don’t take their responsibilities seriously – and equally nonsensical to suggest that licensed poker machine suppliers seek to provide games for any purpose other than entertainment.

The program was not factually accurate. It didn’t mention that around 140,000 Australian jobs are an outcome of poker machines. It didn’t mention that over $5 billion annually is paid in taxes as a result of poker machines.

It didn’t mention that millions of dollars are generously donated annually by hospitality venues with poker machines, to worthy community causes which would otherwise go unfunded.

But the biggest omission was that millions of people in Australia and around the world enjoy playing poker machines regularly and do not experience any problems.

About half of Australia’s poker machines are located in NSW – which legalised poker machines in 1956. The only jurisdiction worldwide with a longer history of legislated, regulated poker machines is Nevada USA which legalised them in the 1930s. 2.3% of the world’s gaming machines are located in Nevada and 1.2% are in NSW.

Camelot's success in growing interim sales to an all-time high was driven by continued very strong growth across The National Lottery's digital channels. Mobile sales surged by 72% on the same period last year, helped by a range of innovations such as the launch of Barclays Pingit as the first-ever mobile payment option for National Lottery players. Sales through smartphones and tablets now account for over 35% of all sales across Camelot's direct channels.

Sales over the half-year were also boosted by 15% year-on-year growth across The National Lottery's GameStore range of online and in-store instant play games. This was driven by the launch of over 30 exciting new Scratchcards and online Instant Win Games, higher prize payouts and pioneering initiatives such as second chance draws.

Andy Duncan, Chief Executive of Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, said: "Thanks to very strong growth across our mobile channel and in our GameStore category, we've made an extremely positive start to the financial year. In just six months, we've delivered almost £2.9 billion for our players and for National Lottery projects - making a truly life-changing difference to people and communities throughout the UK."

"As we head into the second half of the year, we're determined to build on this impressive performance. On top of the successful changes we've recently made to our flagship Lotto game to give our players more chances than ever to become a millionaire, we've got some really exciting plans to further enhance our games and channels in the coming months - all of which will ensure that we deliver even more for our winners and for the millions of people for whom National Lottery funding is so vital."
