IGT Sign 10+-Year Agreement with the North Carolina Education Lottery to Provide a Wide Array of Lottery Technology and Ongoing Services

LONDON, U.K. (March 11, 2016) – International Game Technology PLC (“IGT”) (NYSE: IGT) announced that its subsidiary, IGT Global Solutions Corporation, has signed a Gaming System and Related Services Agreement (Agreement) with the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) to provide a new draw-based central system, new lottery terminals, as well as player self-service vending machines, a multifaceted communications network, and ongoing services. The Agreement, with an initial term of 10+ years from “Go-Live” on April 1, 2017 until June 30, 2027, allows for a five-year extension option until June 30, 2032, and is the result of a competitive procurement.  The NCEL has been a valued IGT customer since the NCEL launched the lottery in 2006.

Under the terms of the Agreement, IGT will provide the NCEL with industry-leading tools including components of IGT’s Aurora™ platform. Aurora Open Retail (f/k/a NEOS), a new retail solution software architecture, will enable the NCEL to support multiple types of retailer solution devices in an efficient manner, improving time to market.  Additionally, the NCEL will receive Aurora Navigator (f/k/a NVISION) back-office applications for lottery personnel who will have the ability to customize the look and feel of the interface to meet their exact needs, help them better manage their business, and enhance productivity.

The NCEL will also receive IGT’s Altura™ Flex draw-based lottery terminal which features a highly-configurable platform derived from the successful Altura GT1200 product, and a smaller footprint. A new reader for play slips is designed to reduce maintenance cycles and improve throughput. A high-resolution wide-screen retailer display will enhance the ease of use and productivity of retailers.

Moreover, the Gemini™ Touch, IGT’s new self-service lottery vending machine, provides fully customizable screens, allowing the NCEL to showcase its brand identity and creatively display content that is unique and inviting. Up to 28 instant-ticket games are supported and the number of draw games is configurable based on the NCEL’s needs.

The latest ES MultiMedia digital advertising display solution will be provided to stimulate increased brand awareness, winner awareness, and player recognition of jackpots and game activities, directly at the point-of-sale. The communications network will be replaced with a combination of VSAT technology and the IGT-patented Dual Comm Inside, offering the highest network availability in the lottery industry.

IGT will maintain its primary data center to be co-located with the NCEL’s new facility in Raleigh, providing services to the NCEL including installation and maintenance of the new central system, terminals, and communications network; retailer training; and field services. IGT will continue to provide backup data center services from its Data Center of the Americas facility located in Austin, Texas.

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) Hosts Another Extremely Successful North American Regulators Roundtable in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 10, 2016) – Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) proudly hosted its 16th annual North American Regulators Roundtable, welcoming over 200 regulators from 31 jurisdictions across North America and the Caribbean. This year’s theme, “Strategically Embracing Innovation,” was fitting, with discussions centered on topics like iGaming and fantasy sports.

GLI President & CEO James Maida said, “We are honored by the support that our regulator clients provide for our Regulators Roundtables. GLI is proud to host networking and learning opportunities for our guests. Every aspect of our 16th annual North American Regulators Roundtable was a success – the keynote addresses, the various high-level sessions, and the brand new event mobile application.”

The annual, two-day event, held at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, is a unique opportunity for regulators to absorb high-level information from thought-leaders and discuss or share ideas about various topics with their peers.

Brand new to this year’s Regulators Roundtable was the event mobile application, accessible to attendees via their smart phones. Regulators were encouraged to use the application for submitting questions throughout the event, which were answered either during respective sessions or the “What’s On Your Mind? An Interactive Forum,” also new to the event.

Other popular sessions included “Detecting Cheaters and Minimizing Fraud,” which featured live demonstrations of techniques thieves use to gain access to sensitive information and compromise the integrity of a gaming operation; and “What is the Call for Fantasy Sports?”, which opened up discussion about Daily Fantasy Sports and the legal and policy issues related to the debate.

The exciting keynote address was delivered by Lt. Colonel Kevin Sweeney, a motivational speaker, author and decorated combat pilot. Sweeney’s presentation, “Pressure Cooker Confidence: How To Lead When the Heat Is On,” focused on his life or death experience as a pilot during a night combat mission and allowed the audience to mentally live through the challenges he faced.

Concluding this year’s event, we were pleased to announce that next year’s Regulators Roundtable will be held March 15 and 16, 2017 at Luxor Las Vegas. GLI will produce the Latin American Regulators Roundtable August 24 and 25, 2016 in Curacao. The North American Regulators Roundtable was presented free of charge to regulators.

Cowboy Draw Celebrates One Year Anniversary with a Cash Giveaway for WyoLotto Fans

Lotto New Zealand’s Focus on Responsible Gaming Internationally Recognised

NEW ZEALAND (March 15, 2016) -- Internal Affairs Minister Hon Peter Dunne today announced that Lotto New Zealand has received the highest possible international recognition for its continued focus on providing a safe gaming environment.

Lotto New Zealand’s responsible gaming programme has been officially certified as best practice by the World Lottery Association under its Responsible Gaming Framework.

Lotto New Zealand provides safe lottery and gaming products that allow New Zealanders to play and win while contributing money back to the community. In doing so, Lotto New Zealand provides a gaming environment that encourages responsible play and continues to improve the information, support and services provided to players,” says Mr Dunne.

Under the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming Framework there are four possible levels of accreditation, with Level 4 being the highest level and denoting international best practice.

Lotto New Zealand is one of just four lotteries in the Asia Pacific region to receive the highest level of certification for its responsible gaming programme. On-going work to continuously improve its practice has elevated Lotto NZ’s responsible gaming programme from Level 2 in 2009, and Level 3 in 2014.

Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM) Release February 2016 Index

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 10, 2016) - The AGEM Index reported positive growth in February 2016 after falling 8.86 points in January 2016. The composite index stood at 197.00 at the close of the month, which represents an increase of 8.54 points, or 4.5 percent, when compared to January 2016.

The AGEM Index reported a year-over-year increase for the fifth consecutive month, rising 4.29 points, or 2.2 percent, when compared to February 2015.

During the latest period, eight of the 14 global gaming equipment manufacturers reported month-to-month gains in stock price, with two up by more than 50 percent and another up by more than 40 percent.

Of the six manufacturers reporting declines in stock price during the month, only one was down by more than 10 percent.

The broader stock markets experienced continued volatility and lackluster performances in February.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average reported a modest increase month-to-month, rising 0.3 percent to 16,516.50.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and NASDAQ both reported month-to-month declines in February. The S&P 500 fell 0.4 percent to 1,932.23, while NASDAQ declined 1.2 percent to 4,557.95.

Selected positive contributors to the February 2016 AGEM Index included the following:

With a stock price of $8.51 (+43.8 percent), Scientific Games Corporation (SGMS) contributed 3.69 points.

  • Konami Corp. (9766) reported a stock price of ¥2,739 (-1.0 percent) and contributed 1.47 points (changes in foreign currency exchange rates between periods impacted the composite score).
  • Astro Corp. (3064) contributed 1.16 points, due to a 109.2-percent increase in stock price to NT$41.00.

 

Selected negative contributors included the following:

  • With a stock price of $7.07 (-12.0 percent), Daktronics, Inc. (DAKT) contributed negative 0.43 points.
  • INTRALOT S.A. (INLOT) contributed negative 0.13 points, due to a 5.0-percent decline in stock price to EUR 1.13.

 

In the past month, a number of gaming equipment manufacturers released their financial results for the period ending December 31, 2015. Additional releases are expected in the coming weeks. Selected company highlights are noted below.

Ainsworth Game Technology (AGI) reported revenue of AU$141.9 million for the six months ending December 31, 2015. The latest period represents a 26.8-percent increase when compared to the six months ending December 31, 2014.

Domestic revenue (Australia), which accounts for 35.4 percent of total revenue was AU$50.3 million, representing a decline of 6.0 percent from a year ago.

Meanwhile, international revenue, which accounts for the remaining 64.6 percent of total revenue reported an annual gain of 56.8 percent, rising to AU$91.6 million. Gains in international revenue were attributable to a 42-percent increase in North America to AU$43.0 million, which was driven by strong performances in California and new markets in Idaho, Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland and West Virginia.

Scientific Games Corporation (SGMS) completed its merger with Bally Technologies in November 2014. The following represents the company's actual results for 2015 and pro forma results for the prior year.

In the fourth quarter of 2015, Scientific Games reported revenues of $737.0 million, which represents a gain of 4.2 percent compared to the prior year.

The product sales segment reported the greatest annual increase in revenues during the period, rising 8.5 percent to $252.0 million. Services followed with a gain of 2.5 percent to $343.0 million, while the instant games segment reported revenue growth of 1.0 percent and increased to $142.0 million.

Despite the gain in fourth quarter revenue, Scientific Games' revenue fell 6.4 percent in 2015 to $2.8 billion.

Services revenue increased 7.4 percent during the year to $1.4 billion, while instant games revenue rose 2.1 percent to $544.0 million. However, these gains were offset by a 25.3-percent decline in product sales revenue to $863.0 million.

Agilysys (AGYS) reported revenue of $31.3 million in the company's fiscal third quarter of 2016, representing a 26.5-percent increase over the same period of the previous year. Product revenue was a key driver of the revenue gains, increasing 64.5 percent year-over-year to $11.9 million.

Hardware replacement sales as well as increased new logo hardware sales were important facets in product revenue escalation.

With a gain in customer installation and implementation projects, professional services revenue increased 25.5 percent to $4.5 million.

Support, maintenance and subscription services revenue increased 7.0 percent year-over-year in the latest period, rising to $14.9 million.

While selected gaming suppliers reported positive results in a number of areas, it will be important to monitor the balance of the sector to provide additional insight.

German Lottery Operator Lotto Baden-Württemberg Chooses Morpho’s ELITE Lottery Terminal

PARIS, France (March 17, 2016) -- The German lottery operator Lotto Baden-Württemberg has selected Morpho (Safran) to supply 3,600 lottery terminals including lottery application, a terminal management system and services over 10 years.

Under the contract, Morpho will deliver its latest ELITE lottery terminal, using innovative imaging technology which offers high efficiency, reliability and user-friendliness for retailers.

The ELITE terminal includes new features such as the ability to create original play slips, in new shapes and sizes.

The competitive selection process conducted by Lotto Baden-Württemberg highlighted the advantages of the ELITE terminal, which include enhanced services such as the management of ID documents and fingerprint authentication of retailers. The software supplied with these terminals as well as the terminal management system will be developed in partnership with Lotsys, a subsidiary of the French lottery operator, la Française des Jeux.

Czech Sports Betting Operator Fortuna Entertainment Group (FEG) Announce Preliminary Unaudited Financial Results for 2015

We are pleased to report on strong profitable growth for the full year 2015 despite the absence of big sport events as well as the abolishment of the online handling fee in Slovakia. Fortuna accepted total bets in the amount of EUR 847.7 million, which is 26.1% more than last year. Despite the continuous margin pressure, our strong performance in the third and the fourth quarters of 2015 impacted positively also our Gross Win that went up by 11.2% to EUR 147.4 million. The main driver of our performance was expansion of online sports betting and in particular mobile sports betting in all Fortuna´s markets, as well as our focus on operational excellence and solid margins,” said Per Widerstrom, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Fortuna Entertainment Group.

Fortuna recorded in 2015 a total Amounts Staked figure of EUR 847.7 million, 26.1% more than in 2014, according to the preliminary unaudited financial results. The Amount Staked from sports betting reached EUR 828.0 million, 26.3% more than in 2014 on the back of strong performance in all countries where Fortuna operates and despite the absence of major sporting events last year. Amounts Staked from lottery bets in 2015 totalled to EUR 19.7 million, 17.8% increase yoy, driven by growth of both scratch cards and numerical lottery segments.

In 2015, total Gross Win reached EUR 147.4 million, an increase of 11.2% compared with 2014. Gross Win from sports betting equalled EUR 138.7 million, a 10.9% increase yoy. Of which, Gross Win from on-line betting in 2015 increased to EUR 84.7 million, a substantial gain of 26.4% over 2014. On-line betting expansion was supported by popularity of “live betting” and especially mobile. Also, on-line betting growth was accelerated by the abolishment of on-line handling fee in Slovakia as well as by start of prosecution of players playing with offshore operators in Poland. Gross Win from retail betting in 2015 amounted to EUR 54 million, a 7.0% decrease from the previous year. Gross Win from lottery was EUR 8.7 million (+15.5% yoy) growing both on the scratch cards as well as numerical games.

Total consolidated EBITDA recorded in 2015 was EUR 27.2 million, down 2.1% yoy. If adjusted by one-off impact from VAT claim in Poland which had impact on 2014 EBITDA, the year-on-year change in the EBITDA would be zero. EBITDA from sports betting reached EUR 26.3 million, 4.1% less than previous year. EBITDA from lottery was EUR 0.9 million, up 147.3% y-o-y.

In 2015 the Company recorded Net Profit for the period of EUR 19.5 million, 22.5% more than in the previous year. If adjusted by the deferred tax income in Poland, Net Profit for the period would be EUR 16.0 million.

Amaya Report Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2015 Results

Foreign Exchange and Other Impacts on Revenues - Excluding the impact of year-over-year changes in foreign exchange rates, total revenues for the quarter and full year would have increased by 12% and 15%, respectively, and real-money online revenues for the quarter and full year would have increased by 13% and 15%, respectively. On such constant currency basis and excluding the levy of certain value added taxes (VAT) introduced in certain European Union jurisdictions in 2015 and the previously reported suspension or impairment of real-money operations in Portugal, Greece and certain other jurisdictions, total revenues for the quarter and full year would have increased by 16% and 19%, respectively, and real-money online revenues for the quarter and full year would have increased by 17% and 19%, respectively.  Approximately US$6.8 million of revenues for the quarter and full year were the result of accounting adjustments for certain offsets to gross gaming revenue.

Operating Segment Revenues - Real-money online poker revenues and real-money online casino and sportsbook combined revenues represented approximately 78% and 17% of total revenues for the quarter, respectively, as compared to 93% and 3%, respectively, for the fourth quarter of 2014.  Other offerings, including social and play-money gaming, live poker events, branded poker rooms and daily fantasy sports, and other nominal sources of revenue are aggregated into other revenues, which comprise the remaining portion of total revenues for the periods.

Adjusted Net Leverage Ratio - Adjusted Net Leverage Ratio at December 31, 2015 was 5.07.

Debt – During the year Amaya reduced total long-term debt from approximately US$3.156 billion with a weighted average interest rate of 6.38% to approximately US$2.587 billion with a weighted average interest rate of 5%. Amaya expects interest and debt principal payments to be approximately US$173 million in 2016.

Fourth Quarter 2015 Operational Highlights

Customer Registrations - Aggregate customer registrations increased by 1.99 million to approximately 99 million at the end of 2015 and currently exceed 100 million.

Quarterly Real-Money Active Uniques (QAUs) – Total combined QAUs were 2.4 million, a decrease of approximately 2.3% year-over-year, and PokerStars only QAUs were 2.3 million, an increase of approximately 0.6% year-over-year. Excluding the impact of the suspension or impairment of certain real-money operations noted above, total combined QAUs would have increased approximately 0.9%, and PokerStars only QAUs would have increased approximately 4.1%.

Approximately 95% of total combined QAUs played on PokerStars. Amaya estimates that its emerging online casino offerings are already among the world’s fastest growing and have one of the largest player bases among its competitors.

Quarterly Net Yield (QNY) – Total QNY was $153, an increase of 16.8% year-over-year. Total QNY on a U.S. dollar basis was US$113, a decrease of 2.4% year-over-year. Excluding the impact of year-over-year changes in foreign exchange rates, total QNY was US$134, an increase of 15.2% year-over-year.

On such constant currency basis and excluding the levy of certain VAT and the suspension or impairment of certain real-money operations noted above, total QNY on a U.S. dollar basis increased by 13.5% year-over-year.

2016 Performance Update

Revenues – For the first two months of 2016, Amaya estimates that unaudited consolidated revenues were approximately US$189 million, representing an increase of approximately 4% over the same period of 2015. Of such revenues, 75% was attributable to real-money online poker estimated revenues and 21% was attributable to real-money online casino and sportsbook combined estimated revenues. Excluding the impact of year-over-year changes in foreign exchange rates, Amaya estimates that such revenues were approximately US$208 million, representing an increase of approximately 14% over the same period of 2015.

2016 Guidance – As previously announced, the Special Committee of the Board of Directors determined, in consultation with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, that in view of the potential offer to acquire Amaya that may be forthcoming from Mr. Baazov, and the fact that the Special Committee’s financial advisor and the independent valuator have commenced their review process, it would be inappropriate for Amaya to provide guidance with respect to its 2016 financial performance at this time.  An analysis of management’s forecast of Amaya’s financial performance will be part of the valuator’s work, and its report, which would include certain forecast information, would be made public as part of any disclosure document relating to an offer, if any, from Mr. Baazov.  Amaya is not otherwise precluded from providing 2016 financial guidance in the future.

March Madness Betting To Total $9.2 Billion This Year

WASHINGTON, DC (March 14, 2016) – With the NCAA men’s basketball tournament about to tip off, the American Gaming Association (AGA) is estimating that Americans will wager $9.2 billion on March Madness this year. The number marks an increase from 2015, when fans and casual observers alike bet $9 billion, through office pools, Nevada sports books, illicit offshore sites and illegal bookies.

The total number of brackets Americans will complete – more than 70 million this year – will likely surpass the number of ballots voters cast for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton or any other single presidential candidate in the November election.

In 2012, 65 million Americans voted for President Obama while 61 million voted for Mitt Romney. No presidential candidate has ever received 70 million votes. (Obama came closest when he received 69 million votes in 2008.)

AGA released research last year found that 40 million people fill out brackets; the average person completes nearly two brackets; the average bet per bracket totals $29; and that half of all March Madness viewers have filled out a bracket at least once in their lifetime.

Of the $9.2 billion that will be wagered this year, only about $262 million will be bet legally at Nevada sports books. The total illegal sports betting market in the United States grew to $148.8 billion in 2015.

In a major shift last November following months of study and deliberation by AGA and its members, the casino gaming industry announced its intent to study the implications of current law and to build a coalition to determine if rational, legal alternatives exist.

In the large and growing illegal sports betting market, consumer protections are non-existent and law enforcement lack tools to protect the integrity of games.

AGA has launched a new website dedicated to this effort that serves as the hub of its campaign to educate and inform stakeholders and allies. The site includes up-to-date news, research and information on this dynamic issue.

Gambling Commission Executive Level Changes Help Put Consumers at Heart of Regulation

  • Give greater emphasis to the role that the Gambling Commission plays to promote and protect consumers’ interests in both commercial gambling markets and the National Lottery.
  • Ensure sufficient focus on analysis and evidence. The Gambling Commission is an evidence-led regulator. We produce regular public data on industry trends and consumer participation. This helps shape policy on gambling in Britain, as well as informing regulatory decisions.
  • Look to market, technology and consumer developments, for example the increasingly digital and mobile-led dimension to the National Lottery and commercial gambling, and take account of these changes in future regulatory approaches.
  • Maintain a strong focus on effective engagement with industry sectors; on shared regulation with local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales, and, in an international gambling market, on partnerships with regulators in other jurisdictions.
  • Build on the Commission’s expertise, its ways of working and communications to ensure regulation is effective and efficient for the future.

 

The changes in Executive level portfolios take effect from 1 April 2016 and are illustrated in an organisational diagram.  

In April, we will also publish our business and financial plan for 16/17. This will be followed later in the financial year by a process to develop a new forward strategy for the Commission.

Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Opens Entry for Four Rare Bourbons in Limited-Release Lotteries

56 bottles available; deadline for entry is March 19

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (March 14, 2016) -- The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) will hold its first Limited-Release Lotteries of 2016 on March 23, offering 56 bottles of four bourbons for sale to lottery winners.

Pennsylvania residents have until 11:00 PM Saturday, March 19, to opt in to one or all of three separate lotteries, which feature the following products:

  • Lottery One features six bottles (five for individual consumers, one for licensees) of John E. Fitzgerald Bourbon VS Reserve 20 Year Old 90 Proof.  Each 375 milliliter bottle of this ultra-rare bourbon – comprised of 12 barrels of wheated bourbon produced at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Kentucky – costs $299.99.
  • Lottery Two features two Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection Old Fashioned Sour Mash Bourbons:
    - Ten 375 milliliter bottles (eight for individual consumers, two for licensees) of Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection Old Fashioned Sour Mash Bourbon 105 Entry Proof for $48.49 each.
    - Ten 375 milliliter bottles (eight for individual consumers, two for licensees) of Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection Old Fashioned Sour Mash Bourbon 125 Entry Proof, also for $48.49 each.

Distilled in May 2002, the Old Fashioned Sour Mash experiment used Buffalo Trace's proprietary mash. The bourbon was cooked and cooled, then the mash was allowed to sour before yeast was added to start fermentation.

Purchase is limited to one bottle per household, per lottery. Entries will be vetted for duplicative names, addresses and other information, and duplicates will be deleted from the lottery pool.
