Historic Powerball Roll Up Proves to be a Boon to New York Businesses

Retailers Have Earned More Than $9.36 Million in Commissions in 10-Week Roll Up Period


NEW YORK (January 12, 2016) -- The New York State Gaming Commission today announced that New York businesses licensed by its Division of the Lottery to sell tickets for tomorrow’s historic $1.4 billion Powerball drawing have earned a record $9,662,833 in commissions during the 10-week roll up period that began on November 7, 2015. Lottery retailers earn $.12 on each Powerball ticket sold.

 “The lottery is proud to support business of all sizes across NYS. This historic jackpot has led to record commissions for retailers and should help these businesses thrive,” said Gardner Gurney, Director of the Division of the Lottery.

In addition to the positive economic impact, we appreciate the buzz factor that comes with a Lottery jackpot of this size. Total Lottery sales, including Powerball, for the current fiscal year up $310,000,000 over last fiscal year, which translates to an increase of $18,000,000 in commissions for the same time period.

Maine State Lottery Launch Scientific Games-Developed Player Loyalty Program and Mobile App

Company’s Interactive Solutions Are Innovating New Conveniences for U.S. Lottery Players and Retailers


LAS VEGAS and ATLANTA (January 13, 2016) – Scientific Games Corporation (“Scientific Games” or the “Company”) today announced that the Maine State Lottery (the “Lottery”) launched its new player rewards program, RewardMe Lottery Club, through the Company’s Loyalty Plus solution. For the first time, lottery players in Maine can participate in a points-based rewards program that allows them to enter their non-winning instant lottery games online, accumulate points and redeem points for prizes and merchandise in the Company’s Points for Prizes online store. The RewardMe Lottery Club supporting mobile app, developed by Scientific Games for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, may be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play store at no cost. With 13 mobile apps released and seven full loyalty rewards programs currently in use by U.S. lotteries—more than any other lottery provider—the Company’s interactive solutions are inventing conveniences for U.S. lottery players and retailers.

Florida Lottery Celebrates Its 28th Birthday with the Launch of a New Family of Games!

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (January 12, 2016) -- Following the success of the newest $20 Scratch-Off game, $5,000,000 FLAMINGO MULTIPLIER, the Florida Lottery today introduced the FLAMINGO MULTIPLIER family of Scratch-Off games. The new games feature more than $370 million in cash prizes and more than 32.7 million winning tickets! All Lottery retailers are expected to have these new tickets in stock and available for purchase within 72 hours.

Loto-Québec Moves to Electronic Draws

MONTRÉAL, Quebec, Canada (January 12, 2016) – Beginning on February 1, all Loto-Québec draws will be performed electronically. Only the main draws of Canada-wide lotteries like Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max will continue to be performed using ball machines. This change to the draw procedure is part of a broader plan to optimize and modernize lottery sector processes, a plan that has been implemented by the Corporation over the past few years.


By choosing to perform its draws electronically ‒ electronic draws are already used for the lotteries Tout ou rien, Plinko®, Eldorado and Roue de fortune Éclair as well as for Lotto Max Maxmillions draws and Lotto 6/49 Guaranteed Prize draws ‒, Loto-Québec is following in the footsteps of several other Canadian and American lottery corporations.

In addition to their increased security, electronic draws enable customers to obtain the results faster. This modification will save nearly a half-million dollars every year for the Corporation, particularly in terms of equipment maintenance.

A trustworthy and secure method

Electronic draws are based on the same principles as ball machine draws in that the procedures are equally secure and stringent, and that the results are completely random.

To perform its electronic draws, Loto-Québec uses a computerized random number generator, tested and certified by two independent specialized firms: “This system is designed to produce numbers as randomly as a ball machine, and the results are verified by independent auditors using their own systems that are in no way connected to Loto-Québec’s system,” stated Simon Patenaude, President of Lottery Operations for the Corporation.

Pick 3 – Play Twice a Day Starting February 7

TOPEKA, Kansas (January 8, 2016) -- Pick 3 players will soon have twice the chance to win!  Starting February 7, 2016, the Kansas Lottery will offer two Pick 3 drawings every day – a Midday drawing and an Evening drawing. 

Pick 3 is a Kansas-only game. The new daily Midday Pick 3 drawing will be held at approximately 1:10 p.m. The deadline for purchasing tickets for the Midday drawing will be 12:59 p.m. The


Evening drawing will continue to be held at approximately 9:10 p.m. The deadline for purchasing Evening tickets is 8:59 p.m. Both drawings will be held seven days a week, for a total of 14 Pick 3 drawings each week.

Wagers in all Pick 3 drawings will be $1 each. A 50¢ wager will no longer be available. Players will continue to choose their type of play – “Exact Order” or “Any Order.” 

The prize structure is identical for the Midday and Evening drawings. The top prize for matching three numbers in an Exact Order play is $500.

Players who pick the Any Order option and match the three numbers drawn will win $80, or $160 if two of the three digits are identical.

Players who use Pick 3 play slips will need to use new play slips after the February 6 drawing. New Pick 3 play slips are being delivered to all Kansas Lottery retailers.

Please note: Fewer Pick 3 multi-draws will be available after the January 10, 2016, drawing, until the game change on February 7, when players will once again be able to select up to 28 multi-draws.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (January 13, 2016) – The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM) announced today that its Board of the Directors has elected a new slate of officers under the leadership of Thomas A. China LotSynergy Launch Cambodian Welfare Lottery Instant Scratch Card Logistics Management and Price Claim System

American Gaming Association and Clubs Australia Announce Partnership

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia (December 11, 2015) -- Clubs Australia and the American Gaming Association (AGA) today united to call for a global approach to tackling the unregulated, unsafe and un-taxed illegal online gambling market.


The two organisations also committed themselves to forming an international alliance on the issue, in which both parties will collaborate to raise awareness of the risks of illicit gambling websites, and work on measures to prevent their spread.

It is estimated that US and Australian residents currently spend $4 billion and $1.2 billion respectively each year on illegal overseas gambling websites.

Not only do these illegal websites deprive both Australian and US Governments of tax revenue and employment, their operation greatly increases the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing.

Clubs Australia Executive Director Anthony Ball said that it was well past time to take the threat of these illegal gambling operations seriously.

The proliferation of illegal online gambling is a scourge that needs to be tackled by governments world-wide, in association with legal and regulated gaming operators,” he said.

Put simply, these sites are unethical and unsafe. There are no age verification checks, no harm-minimisation measures, and the revenue they generate goes to offshore tax havens – not back to the community.


AGA Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Rayme said that there is a clear difference between the illegal operators and the licensed, regulated industry.

Our partnership with Clubs Australia will help to shine a spotlight on shady outfits that don’t create jobs, contribute vital tax revenue, protect players or serve as strong community partners.

As part of the international partnership, both organisations will work together to provide details of these illegal operations to governments in order for these illicit sites to be shut down.

They will also call on their respective governments to ramp up efforts to target these companies.

Clubs Australia will also call for moves to ensure that Australian financial institutions that facilitate transactions with illegal operators put a stop to the practice.

The partnership between AGA and Clubs Australia also forms part of the AGA’s “Stop Illegal Gambling – Play it Safe” initiative, which focuses on four key areas of illegal gambling: illegal sports betting; black market machines; Internet sweepstakes cafes; and illegal online betting.

Fantasy Sports Firm Fanaments Secures UK License

LONDON, U.K. (January 12, 2016) -- Fanaments, the only multi-sport fantasy provider in Europe, has been awarded their UK betting license.

In contrast to industry competition, the Icelandic-based firm offers users not only a variety of football competition-based tournaments, including the English Premier League, La Liga and UEFA Champions League, but NBA basketball, MMA and PGA golf as well.

Since their initial launch in August of last year, Fanaments has grown by at least 100 percent month-on-month having paid out over €300,000 in winnings. Football and perhaps more surprisingly, their offering of basketball are the main factors for the exponential increase in growth.

To use the new Spin & Bet feature, bettors simply choose their bet from the available markets, enter their stake, and click 'Spin & Bet'. The bet will be placed and an animation will display the potentially enhanced odds and potential winnings, with the result being one of five multiples: 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 5x or 10x.  When playing Spin & Bet, 10% of the bettor's stake goes towards an enhanced odds jackpot.

For example, a £10 bet at 2/1 would become a £9 Spin & Bet with the chance for the odds to increase to as much as 20/1 with a potential payout of £189 (£9 x 20 + £9 stake back).

Spin & Bet will form the focus of an international marketing campaign to launch the BetStars brand over the coming months, which is anticipated to begin over the next week.
