IGT Announce Long-Term Extension Agreement with Sächsische LOTTO-GmbH in Germany to Continue Providing Lottery Technology and Services

LONDON, U.K. (May 27, 2016) -- International Game Technology ("IGT") (NYSE:IGT) announced that it has entered into a long-term extension agreement with World Lottery Association member Sächsische LOTTO-GmbH (SACHSENLOTTO), the Company's lottery customer in the German state of Saxony, to continue providing lottery technology and services, as well as implementing a central system upgrade. IGT will also continue to service the central system following the upgrade.

INTRALOT Signs Extension Contract in Philippines

ATHENS, Greece (May 31, 2016) -- INTRALOT has signed an extension contract with Pacific Online Systems Corporation (POSC), a public listed company that runs the games of the Philippines Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), until 31 August 2018.  This is the 5th amendment between the two parties, since the establishment of their cooperation in 2006 that has resulted to a continuous growth and expansion of services for POSC.

Under the terms of the extension contract, INTRALOT will continue to supply POSC with the industry’s most advanced and reliable LOTOS™ online lottery system and provide the company with 1,200 terminals plus an additional 800 main units to be connected in the expanded network of PoS.

Scientific Games Wins Belgium National Lottery's Instant Games in Competitive Bid

Company Will Continue to Drive Lottery Revenue Growth in Europe with Innovation, Marketing Support and Global Best Practices

Following a competitive procurement process, in which the Company replaced an industry competitor, Loterie Nationale ("the Lottery") awarded Scientific Games a new one-year contract for the design and manufacturing of instant games, with options to extend the agreement for up to three additional years. The Company will also provide the Lottery with consumer marketing support guided by its global best practices resulting from more than 40 years serving lotteries in 50 countries.

Driven chiefly by Scientific Games products and expertise, the US $80.4 billion global instant game category is expanding across Europe with an average of 31 percent five-year sales growth from 2009 to 2014, with exceptionally strong performances in Italy, U.K. France, Portugal, Hungary and Lithuania.

apital Partners announced today that funds advised by CVC Capital Partners (“CVC”) have acquired a 100% equity stake in Italian gaming and payments operator, Sisal Group S.p.A. (“Sisal”), from funds advised by Apax Partners, Permira and Clessidra. The value of the transaction was €1.0bn.

Headquartered in Milan, Sisal is a leading operator in the Italian gaming market and the number one provider of payments services.

Established in 1946, Sisal was the first Italian company to operate in the gaming sector as a Government Licensee. Through its capillary network of 45,000 points of sale, the company offers the public in excess of 500 payment services. Sisal employs about 2000 people.

CVC has a strong track record in the gaming industry through its strategic investments in Sky Bet (UK), Tipico (Germany) as well as its previous investment in William Hill.

Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Surpasses Previous Sales Records

LITTTLE ROCK, Arkansas (June 1, 2016) -- With still one full month remaining in the fiscal year, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery last week surpassed its previous cash sales record for annual draw game sales. Additionally, over Memorial Day weekend, Arkansas’s Lottery surpassed its cash sales totals for fiscal year 2015.

This is an incredible achievement that simply could not have been accomplished without the hard work of our small but dedicated staff, our players, and our incredible network of nearly 2,000 Lottery retailers in every corner of the state,” Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Director Bishop Woosley said.

The previous high-water mark for annual draw games cash sales of $87,682,793 was set in fiscal year 2014. Current draw cash sales for fiscal year 2016 – again, with a month left on the fiscal year calendar – are at $88,631,455. Overall, Arkansas Scholarship Lottery sales for 2016 presently are at more than $419 million, compared with sales of just over $410 million for all of 2015.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Act of 2009 provided for revenue raised by a state lottery to provide for college scholarships, to be administered by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE). More than One Billion Dollars Paid Out to New Jersey Lottery Instant Ticket Players this Year

TRENTON, New Jersey (May 27, 2016) – New Jersey Lottery instant ticket players claimed more than $114 million in cash prizes during the month of April. That brings the Fiscal Year 2016 instant ticket prize winning total to over one billion dollars. Of those, there were 55 top-tier annuity prizes greater than $10,000 claimed in April totalling $4.095 million. Two of those prizes were for $1 million.

Mohinder Singh from Zanesville, Ohio, won one million dollars playing the $10 Wild Cash Bonanza game. He purchased the ticket at Centre Exxon, 1441 Route 1 South, Edison in Middlesex County. Singh was visiting his son in Fords, New Jersey when they stopped for gas and the ticket. “I couldn’t believe it,” Singh said. He plans on investing the money.

The other million dollar ticket was claimed by Estefania A. from Lakewood. This mother of two is a factory worker and enjoys playing scratch-offs. The 50X the Cash has always been her favourite and this win reinforced that sentiment.

She scratched the winning ticket but moved onto scratching off other tickets before she gave this one a second look. Her children were present when she scratched the winning ticket and so they were able to share in the excitement. Estefania is still considering how she will enjoy the money but said that she may purchase a house. Her lucky retailer is Hometown Food Market, 1000 Route 70 East, Lakewood.

Everyone’s a winner with the New Jersey Lottery because game revenue supports vital educational programs and institutions, tuition aid grants, school nutrition programs, veterans’ homes, and other beneficiaries across the state.

A minimum of 30 percent of game revenue is contributed to the state on behalf of these recipients. In April, instant ticket sales generated an estimated $33 million towards funding Lottery beneficiaries.

For Fiscal Year 2016, instant tickets have generated more than $315 million toward the funding of good causes.

Prima Networks, Powered by Microgaming, and Dutch Lottery Sign Letter of Intent

MALTA (June 1, 2016) – Prima Networks, powered by Microgaming, has signed a letter of intent to be the primary provider of casino and exclusive supplier of poker to the newly merged Dutch gambling organisation, Nederlandse Staatsloterij / De Lotto, once regulations for online gaming permit them to go live.

Prima Networks entered a competitive tender process for this contract in early 2015. Impressed with the software, company culture and focus on building lasting relationships, the Malta-based company was triumphant in securing the contract.

New Research Funded by Responsible Gambling Trust (RGT) Poses Challenging Questions for Gambling Industry, Regulators and Ministers

LONDON, U.K. (May 25, 2016) -- The Responsible Gambling Trust today publishes new research that poses questions for the gambling industry, regulators and Ministers. NatCen Social Research, Geofutures and Featurespace, were commissioned by RGT to address research questions set out by the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB).

Findings from Geofutures reveal that rates of problem gambling are higher among those who

lived near ‘clusters’ of bookmakers. Whilst the correlation does not necessarily prove causation, this is the first time that research has confirmed this relationship.

NatCen Social Research and Featurespace, used a 2014 survey of more than 4,000 machines gamblers in bookmakers and data from the 10% of players who have a bookmaker loyalty card.

The limited nature of this sample data means that, while insightful, findings from this study are not representative of all people who gamble on B2 machines, but of highly engaged players only.

The research looked at £100 stakes on FOBTs and at-risk groups:

  • Overall 16% of regular loyalty card users had placed a maximum bet of £100 on B2 machines.
  • However, stakes of £100 are rare – only accounting for one in every 388 bets. In a typical scenario £100 stakes happen less at the beginning of a playing session but are more common at later stages.
  • There is a correlation between problem gambling and use of the £100 maximum stakes. Problem gamblers are more likely to place a £100 stake on B2 machines than non-problem gamblers.
  • There is a correlation between certain at-risk groups and the use of the £100 maximum stake on B2 machines. Minority ethnic groups are more likely to place a £100 stake, and the unemployed are more likely to place a £100 stake more often.

 

The findings also highlight different player behaviour patterns, which can be used to support identification of problem gambling:

  • Four different types of problem gamblers were identified, deepening our understanding of different player behaviours – Introspective, Control-loss, Diverse Aware and Severe Aware.
  • The most informative aspects of problem gambling behaviour are ‘chaotic’ variation in choice of stake and amounts of money loaded.
  • Somewhat counter to general expectation, problem gamblers are likely to win more often, have a higher average return on money spent, but also to have higher one off losses.

The Responsible Gambling Trust focus is not just about funding treatment – it’s about preventing the harm and misery caused by problem gambling. This research deepens our understanding of problem gambling, specifically associated with regular users of B2 and B3 gaming machines.

This research poses some challenging questions for the bookmaking industry, for regulators and for Ministers, on the effect of clustering and the maximum stakes on FOBTs in particular.

However, it also reinforces our belief that we need to tackle all forms of gambling related harm – rather than focus on one narrow category or location.

“The aim for all RGT funded research is to help us better identify and support people at risk of harm, whatever form of gambling they are using. Today’s findings show promising development in the potential to identify risky patterns of play on gaming machines, and therefore design more effective intervention methods in the future.

Heather Wardle, lead project researcher from National Centre for Social Research, said:

This research confirms for the first time that there is a correlation between problem gambling and use of the £100 maximum stakes on B2 machines. It also shows not all problem gamblers are the same. That means that different algorithms may be better at picking up different types of problem gamblers, which will help in developing the next generation of intervention methods.

Gaynor Astbury, lead researcher from Geofutures, said:

Our research has shown that the spatial configuration of LBOs with B2 machines is related to levels of problem gambling. Problem gambling prevalence rates were higher among those living in areas of higher density LBO concentrations. However, we cannot say that these concentrations cause problem gambling. When thinking about these areas, we suggest there is a need to consider local population characteristics to help understand this trend.”

David Excell, CTO & Co-founder of Featurespace, said:

Reverse engineering of player data revealed that diversification characteristics, based on money loaded and money spent, can play a role in identifying problem gambling.

Find Exhibitors at the Gaming Expo with the AGE 2016 App

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia (April 26, 2016) -- Last year, AGE visitors were able to download an App for their mobile phone. This year at the AGE we have updated the App with new features which will help visitors to find exhibitors at the show and also keep the visitors abreast of news and activities while they are at the show.

As with last year, visitors who have installed the AGE App on any of their mobile devices will receive a welcome message as they pass through the entry gate.

Once they’re inside the exhibition and pass various points they will get updates to remind them about such things as the time of the Daily Vegas Draw, entertainment and other activities.

In addition to this, visitors can use the App to locate any exhibitor at the show. They can search the alphabetical exhibitor database that’s included in the App and then simply click on the stand number for an exhibitor’s location on the interactive show map.

In order to get these features, visitors must install the latest version of the AGE 2016 App.
