Scientific Games Awarded Expansive Contract with Quinault Beach Resort and Casino for Systems, Games, Interactive Solutions

Washington Casino Resort Chooses the Industry's Only One-Stop-Shop for Innovation Spanning the Entire Casino Floor, Including 100 New Games

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (May 4, 2016) -- Scientific Games Corporation ("Scientific Games" or "the Company") (NASDAQ: SGMS)  today announced the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores, Washington, has selected Scientific Games' industry-leading systems, games, and interactive solutions for its new casino expansion.

Angel of the Winds Casino patrons will explore a land of fantastical beauty with the dazzling warrior Precious Jade™, who leads players through a journey of exciting Free Games with re-triggers and abundant Mystery Stacks.

The $25 million Quinault Beach Resort expansion project, scheduled to be complete later this year, will add 70 percent more casino space to accommodate additional slot machines.

Quinault Beach Resort and Casino Chief Executive Officer Don Kajans said, "We went through a rigorous selection process before choosing to partner with Scientific Games, and ultimately it came down to which solutions would help us increase player satisfaction and coin-in. The Scientific Games' integrated systems and interactive portfolio will enable one single view of our player across multiple channels, providing us with powerful, actionable business intelligence that we'll use to create even more engaging experiences for our patrons."

As part of this major upgrade to its resort amenities, Quinault elected to upgrade their legacy Bally casino-management system with Scientific Games' modern and robust SDS™ slot accounting and player-tracking systems – the preferred choice of many of the world's largest casino operators.

To elevate excitement on their larger casino floor, Quinault Beach Resort is adding 100 new Scientific Games slot platforms and games. On the expanded Quinault Beach casino floor, players will experience the ALPHA 2™ Pro Wave®, ALPHA 2 Pro V27/27, and ALPHA 2 Pro V22/22 slot cabinets, along with engaging game titles including 88 Fortunes®, Ca$h'm If You Can!®, Precious Jade®, Lucky Tree®, and a number of premium licensed brands.

Quinault Beach Resort selected SG Universe™, a holistic mobile solution with compelling content for land-based casino operators to connect with players everywhere – all with a single view of the player through Core Systems Integration. Scientific Games

Scientific Games' President and Chief Executive Officer Gavin Isaacs said, "The fact that Quinault Beach chose our games, systems, and interactive solutions for their casino upgrade reflects confidence in our solutions to deliver tangible business value. SG Universe integrates with our SDS® system to provide a 360-degree view of the player – which is critical in attracting more revenue growth, increasing overall operational agility, and enabling better customer experiences. We are greatly appreciative of this expanded partnership with Quinault Beach."

In addition to the SDS slot-management solution, the savvy casino operator also chose to take advantage of these Scientific Games system innovations to improve operating efficiencies, customer service, drive revenue, and add excitement across the casino floor:

iVIEW™ Display Manager ("DM") on-device messaging technology presents self-service player-account access, marketing messages, and secondary bonus games on the main game screen – without interrupting play.

Elite Bonusing Suite™ ("EBS") enables operators to increase coin-in, carded play, and new player's club signups, while increasing engagement and excitement on the casino floor through 12 different secondary bonusing events.

Swisslos Enjoys Success With Instant Scratch Game Printed By Pollard Banknote

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada (May 4, 2016) – Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) is pleased to congratulate Swisslos, the Swiss lottery company that serves the German-speaking cantons, on the impressive sales results achieved with its instant game, Das Traum-Los (The Dream Ticket). Das Traum-Los, featuring Pollard Banknote’s patented Spectrum Scratch FX®, launched on January 6, 2016 and is significantly outselling previous versions of the game. After nine weeks, sales were an amazing 38% above that of the 2015 version. While this game typically stays in the market until December, Swisslos expects to be out of stock as early as August and has therefore requested a new order!

Every year since 2011, the two Swiss lotteries, Swisslos and Loterie Romande, have partnered to offer players this multijurisdictional game. While each lottery’s game has a unique name and design, they both feature common elements such as the same play mechanics—which closely match bingo—and a shared prize structure (both developed by Loterie Romande).

Das Traum Los

Das Traum-Los, sold at the 25 Swiss franc price point (approximately $26 USD), is designed to reflect a theme of dreams and aspirations. The inside of the ticket includes images of an extravagant home, a motorboat, expensive jewelry, a dream vacation, and a luxury car. To maximize the play area and accommodate nine separate games, Das Traum-Los is a large 8” by 11” (20 cm by 28 cm) ticket that is folded in half for a unique card-style format.

The 2016 edition of Das Traum-Los marks the first time Swisslos has enhanced one of its instant tickets with Pollard Banknote’s patented Spectrum Scratch FX®—a print treatment that adds sparkle and shine for a visual appeal that exceeds that of foil and metallic inks. The front of this stunning ticket features shimmering holographic wording and design elements on a contrasting black background—offering a high-value, luxurious look that stands out at retail and attracts impulse buyers.

Sales of our Das Traum-Los instant game have been growing slightly year-over-year, but the jump in sales this year is unprecedented,” explained Rolf Kunz, Head of Marketing at Swisslos. “We like to change the ticket art each year and the change this year is very significant. We have been impressed with samples of instant tickets that feature Pollard Banknote’s Spectrum Scratch FX® treatment and decided that it would be a perfect addition to Das Traum-Los—giving it an elegant feel that reinforces the ticket’s theme of dreams and luxury. As sales are proving, the result is a very attractive ticket that is being noticed at retail.

Pollard Banknote is excited to see the exceptional sales performance of Swisslos’ first Scratch FX® instant game,” said Michelle Annadale, Director, Sales & Marketing, Pollard Banknote. “Das Traum-Los is the latest in a long list of successful instant games that utilize our patented Scratch FX® process. Swisslos’ sales numbers match our expectations: on average, initial launches of Scratch FX® games sell 40% higher than average games at the same price point. We look forward to working with Swisslos to add more of Pollard Banknote’s print innovations to its instant game portfolio.

Swisslos was established on January 1, 2003 as a result of the merger of three lotteries. In 2014, Swisslos, across its multiple product lines, generated 389 million Swiss francs for charitable purposes. While 29 million Swiss francs were allocated to national sports, the remaining 360 million Swiss francs were distributed to the lottery funds of the cantons, which used the money to fund charitable projects and institutions in the fields of culture, sports, environment, and social issues. Since its inception, Swisslos has generated 6 billion Swiss francs for charitable and non-profit purposes.

Loterie Romande, founded in 1937, serves Switzerland’s French-speaking cantons. Loterie Romande distributes its profits to associations that support the social, cultural, educational, research, environmental, and sports aspects of the local community. In 2014, the Lottery’s contributions to the community reached 209 million Swiss francs.

Oregon Lottery Launch New Loteria Scratch-It

SALEM, Oregon (May 2, 2016) – Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, the Oregon Lottery has launched its second Scratch-it ticket version of the well-known Mexican Bingo-style game, Loteria.

This was a very popular Scratch-it last year, and it resonated well with all Oregonians, so we decided to bring it back again this year, new and improved,” said Oregon Lottery Associate Marketing Communications Manager Thais Rodick.

Loteria is a Mexican Bingo-style game played by family and friends in the Hispanic community. The Loteria Scratch-it ticket offers players a $10,000 top prize.

Oregon’s population is becoming increasingly diverse,” said Rodick. “Currently, 12.3 percent of Oregonians are Hispanics, 4 percent are Asian American and Pacific Islanders, and 2 percent African American."

"We are broadening our product offerings to make sure our games remain relevant with our consumers, and the recent success of Loteria Scratch-it and our most recent Chinese New Year ticket illustrate that we’re on the right track.

New versions of the Loteria Scratch-it will be available in the coming months incorporating themes like “Dia De Los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) and “Navidena” during the holidays.

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned nearly $10 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements.

The US Dollar Loses Its Crown As The Most Popular Currency In Online Casinos

GERMANY (May 5, 2016) -- New research has shown the Euro is now the most common currency option offered by online casinos around the world. It has overtaken the US Dollar, which historically was always at the top of the table. The Euro is now offered as an option in 78 percent of global casinos.

The research was carried out by research team which is dedicated to studying online casino industry and published a number of reports in the past.

Their latest research looked at the currency options offered by casinos from all over the world. This gives an interesting insight into the consumer market that the online casino industry is currently targeting, and the way trends are changing.

La Fleur's 2016 Lottery Almanac

Full report is available here HERE.

Before 2006, almost every online casino in the world offered US Dollar as a currency option. Things started to change after the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in the United States. At first, many casinos banned US customers, but US Dollar option was left available to all other players. However, later they began to eliminate that option, and some new brands that started operating after 2006 have not even considered it. By 2014, just about 90% of the casinos allowed US Dollar player accounts, and today the number is less than 75%.

Now, for the first time in online casino history, the Euro is the most common currency option offered to online casino players.

Olena Prachenko, the research coordinator from KeyToCasino said: "The UIGEA effectively banned online casinos, and without the large US market to target, the US currency became less of a priority for online casino operators. This is particularly true for those casinos that began trading after 2006."

Ms. Prachenko added that there are other reasons that have contributed to this changing currency trend, including the fact that online casinos remain popular in Europe. In addition, the Euro is one of the world's leading currencies, with more countries adopting it as their currency since 2014.

Other Findings

The top five currency options in online casinos around the world are Euro, US Dollar, British Pound, Australian Dollar and Canadian Dollar.

Currencies that are more common now than they were in 2014 include the Russian Rouble, South African Rand, Norwegian Krone, South Korean Won and, of course, the Euro.

In addition to the US Dollar, the currencies that are now less common than they were two years ago include the Canadian Dollar, Swiss Franc, British Pound and Danish Krone.

The research is a snapshot in time as the currency options offered at online casinos often lag behind the economic, legal and political realities of a particular country. The findings do, however, show clear trends, and changes to those trends, over time.

Jackpocket App Launch the First Way to Play New York Lottery Daily Games on Your Phone

  • Lucky Birthday Feature Lets Users Discover How Lucky Their Birthday Is
  • Jackpocket launches the ability for New Yorkers to play the daily Numbers (Pick 3) and Win 4 (Pick 4) representing nearly 60% of all NY Lottery sales.

NEW YORK, N.Y. (April 29, 2016) -- Jackpocket, an innovative mobile app that lets users play the NY Lottery from their phones just released a big update to support two additional lottery games. Users now have the option of playing Numbers (Pick 3) and Win 4 (Pick 4) lotteries from their phones.

Jackpocket is the first mobile app to offer Numbers/Win 4, bringing the total number of state games they support to eight within the app. Combined, Numbers & Win 4 games account for nearly 60% of all draw games played in the state of New York.

NASPL 2016

This launch marks the first time in US history lottery players can play a state’s daily numbers games via a mobile app. Users can try the app and get their first ticket for free by using the promo code “DAILY”.

Both of New York’s daily numbers games are drawn twice per day at 12:24 PM and 7:35 PM, and they give players a better chance at winning smaller prizes.

Players can win up to $500 on the Numbers game and $5000 on the Win 4 game for a $1 wager.

More information about these games can be found on the NY Lottery website.

To support the launch of the new daily games, Jackpocket is releasing the ‘Lucky Birthday’ campaign to bring a fun and personal experience to the lottery.

Using Facebook Connect, ‘Lucky Birthday’ takes a user's birthday and discovers how many times and how much their birthday combination won in the last 15 years (Example: April 17 translates to 4-1-7 & 0-4-1-7). It provides a scrollable infographic and timeline full of fun statistics to see how their birthday and zodiac sign compares to others.

The most interesting statistic showcases the numbers of days it's been since their birthday has hit which gets users wondering if their birthday is due.

The campaign automatically creates a personalized video that is shared with their Facebook friends to illustrate how lucky their birthday actually is.

Jackpocket (iOS Version 1.5.0) gives users access to new games as well as other gamification features that weren’t previously available. It also includes technical improvements to make playing even smoother.

Check out some of the new features offered:

  • Ability to play Numbers (Pick 3) & Win 4 (Pick 4) draw games.
  • Improved On-Boarding Experience for Users to Register.
  • Enhanced graphics and interface for app browsing and interaction.
  • The ability to fund their Jackpocket account directly from their bank or by using Bitcoin.

Since launching Jackpocket, by far the most requested feature has been to support the daily games. It required us to rethink the entire user experience and ensure lottery players would be super comfortable playing these new game formats. The ‘Lucky Birthday’ campaign is just the tip of the iceberg of what we can do to personalize and socialize the lottery experience for our users.” -- CEO Peter J. Sullivan III

The ‘Subscriptions Feature’ allows users to set their Jackpocket account to automatically make ticket plays when the jackpot reaches certain threshold amounts set by the user.

Users on Jackpocket can get their first ticket free by utilizing a promo code after downloading the app, and can buy additional tickets through the various payment methods supported in the app.

Users are notified if they win so they don’t have to check their numbers.

Attorney General Reaches Agreement to Terminate Paid Daily Fantasy Sports Contests in Idaho

SOURCE: Press release Office of Attorney General State of Idaho

BOISE, Idaho (May 2, 2016) – Attorney General Lawrence Wasden says executives of two companies offering various paid Daily Fantasy Sports contests have agreed to quit providing those contests to consumers in Idaho.

The agreement with DraftKings Inc., and FanDuel Inc., two of the nation’s biggest companies offering paid fantasy sports contests, was reached after three months of negotiations, Wasden said.

Under terms of the agreement, the companies, as of May 1, 2016, will not allow any consumers based in Idaho to participate in any of their daily paid online fantasy football, baseball, basketball and other sports contests.

Both DraftKings and FanDuel have agreed to process requests by Idaho participants to withdraw their account balances in a timely manner.

The companies will monitor Idaho players based on geoblocking technology or through IP addresses.

The concern I have is that the paid daily sports offerings provided by these companies constitute gambling under Idaho law,” Attorney General Wasden said.

I have a duty to enforce and uphold that law.  I commend the companies for negotiating in good faith and agreeing not to make these contests available in Idaho.

Wasden began a review of the companies and their websites in January amid concerns regarding the legality of the daily fantasy sports contests offered by those companies.

The Idaho Constitution prohibits gambling except for the state lottery, pari-mutuel betting as well as bingo and raffle games.

Idaho defines gambling, in part, as risking money or other thing of value for gain that is contingent in whole or part upon chance or the outcome of an event, including a sporting event,” Wasden said.

My concern is that the daily fantasy sports offerings my office reviewed require participants to risk money for a cash prize contingent upon individual athletes’ collective performances in various future sporting events. As I see it, this falls within Idaho’s definition of gambling.”

Nothing in the agreement precludes FanDuel or DraftKings from offering free daily fantasy sports leagues or other free contests that offer prizes to players in Idaho.

The agreement signed by both companies also provides a path to resume offering paid fantasy sports contests to Idaho consumers, including the Idaho Legislature changing the law to allow for and regulate such contests.

Paid daily fantasy sports contests could also resume if a court with authority and jurisdiction in Idaho rules in favor of any form of such contests.

The companies can also restart offering such contests at any time, but executives have agreed to provide the Attorney General written notice 30 days prior to doing so.

The notice serves to give the Attorney General time to evaluate the proposed contests to determine whether they comply with Idaho law.

The agreement does not constitute an admission of liability or evidence of wrongdoing by the companies, Wasden said.

Government Short of the Mark on Wagering Reform

AUSTRALIA (April 28, 2016) -- The Australian Wagering Council Chief Executive, Mr Ian Fletcher, today said the Federal government had flinched in the face of the opportunity to deliver fit for purpose wagering reform.

Mr Fletcher was responding to the release by Human Services Minister Alan Tudge of the Review into the Impact of Illegal Offshore Wagering and the government’s response to the Review’s recommendations.

Offshore operators will be delighted. Nothing announced today will stop those determined to flout the law.

Land-based operators, pubs and clubs too may see this as a protectionist lifeline. But as Warren Buffett said, it’s only when the tide goes out that you see who’s been swimming naked. And the tide of wagering consumer choice is inexorably moving online. It’s a matter of time. Sadly, denial is a poor substitute for good regulation.

Perhaps the gravest omission, and the real missed opportunity, is the apparent abandonment of Australian sport and sports integrity. Sports themselves made clear that they needed in-play wagering to be integrated into the onshore, regulated world; failure to do so means the integrity and enforcement gap they identified gapes wider with each passing day.

Innovation is intense in wagering markets globally, and Australia is missing the chance to cement a place as a leading market for product development and design – so missing out on tax, jobs, economic growth and significant regional and global e-commerce opportunities

The AWC believes these goals can be achieved only through national regulation and, today, the Federal Government has flinched in the face of the opportunity to provide meaningful and long-lasting reform of the wagering industry – balanced reform the industry itself wants.

Mr. Fletcher stressed that the story of wagering regulation and reform in 21st century Australia is really a story of customer choice.

For too long, parliaments have passed up the opportunity to respond to shifts in consumer demand for wagering, arising from the mobile internet and the globalization of sports. As a result, Australians have chosen to bet with illegal, offshore wagering operators – that’s what the O’Farrell Review was designed to address.

Australians will continue to use the power and freedom the internet gives them to make choices about what they bet on (racing or sport, domestic or international events), when they bet (pre-match or in-play) and how they bet (in person, on the phone, or via the internet).

On online in-play wagering:

Regrettably, the government has decided to maintain the archaic prohibition in the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 on online in-play wagering, despite overwhelming international evidence that access to live betting online is of the key factors in why Australians choose to wager with unlicensed offshore operators”, explained Mr. Fletcher.

The O’Farrell Review recommended that the question of lifting the prohibition to allow licensed Australian wagering operators to meet the demands of Australian consumers should be deferred until a national framework is in place.

The legalisation of online in-play was recommended by the Department of Communications in its previous review of the Interactive Gambling Act in 2012.

Yet, government inaction continues. Australian consumers and sports deserve better.” Mr. Fletcher noted that since the Australian parliament legislated a prohibition on live betting via the internet in 2001, 35 other countries around the world had enacted gambling regulation and no other jurisdiction imposed a similar ban on their own citizens.

The Australian government has gone against the grain of international regulation. Australians use the internet to access unlicensed operators in droves. Surely those same Australians can be trusted to use the internet to place their bets with Australian licensed operators in a highly regulated and safe environment?

On click-to-call:

Australian customers want to be able to access wagering products in the same way as they do other services and the development and use of ‘click to call’ facilities have responded to that demand.

These products have been available in the Australian marketplace for over 12 months, with significant uptake and use by customers who now view the innovative technology as an accepted and expected way, in today’s modern digital age, of placing their bets.

The government’s decision to seek to introduce legislation to ban click to call products clearly demonstrates a pattern of penalizing Australian licensed wagering operators, while keeping the back door open for illegal offshore operators to target Australian customers. Nonetheless, wagering operators will of course continue to work constructively to address legitimate concerns as they emerge in the legislative process.

The combined effect of attempting to ban click to call technology and maintaining a prohibition on online inplay betting will ensure wagering by Australians with illegal offshore operators will increase.

On consumer protection:

While the AWC welcomed the government’s announcements on enhanced consumer protections (many of them already in place, of course), Mr Fletcher stressed much work would need to be done to see these skeletal recommendations through to implementation.

The AWC has long supported the establishment of a national self-exclusion register, funded by industry but run independently by Government, to assist people manage their gambling activity.

A properly resourced national regulator is best placed to oversee such a scheme – yet there is no commitment by the government on this front. The AWC would like to see it happen sooner, rather than later.

On financial transaction and ISP blocking:

While the Australian Wagering Council does not oppose the government’s decision to explore internet and financial transaction blocking measures, we simply don’t believe they will be effective in stopping Australians gamble with offshore operators and experts in these areas support our view,” Mr Fletcher concluded.

The Australian Wagering Council represents the interests of Betfair, Bet365, Sportsbet, William Hill Australia and Unibet

Find Exhibitors at the Gaming Expo with the AGE 2016 App

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia (April 26, 2016) -- Last year, AGE visitors were able to download an App for their mobile phone. This year at the AGE we have updated the App with new features which will help visitors to find exhibitors at the show and also keep the visitors abreast of news and activities while they are at the show.

As with last year, visitors who have installed the AGE App on any of their mobile devices will receive a welcome message as they pass through the entry gate.

Once they’re inside the exhibition and pass various points they will get updates to remind them about such things as the time of the Daily Vegas Draw, entertainment and other activities.

In addition to this, visitors can use the App to locate any exhibitor at the show. They can search the alphabetical exhibitor database that’s included in the App and then simply click on the stand number for an exhibitor’s location on the interactive show map.

In order to get these features, visitors must install the latest version of the AGE 2016 App.

Further details about the app are available at the AGE web site or it can be downloaded by simply visiting the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Featuring more than 200 exhibitors across 17,000 square metres of exhibition space, the Australasian Gaming Expo is easily the biggest event of its type in Australia and one of the world's biggest. All indications are that the exhibition will again be full to capacity with a wide range of companies showcasing the world’s best gaming and related equipment and services

Last year’s Gaming Expo saw a number of changes resulting from the move to the temporary location at Glebe Island, all of which have been favourably received. Interstate visitors were particularly pleased with the free Ferry travel from Darling Harbour to Glebe Island, affording them a spectacular Sydney Harbour cruise.

Of course there’s more to the Expo than a cruise, with one visitor summing up their Gaming Expo experience in the following words: “Always interesting not just to see new products but totally new ideas and ways of doing business..... new areas of thought into how to trade.”

In fact, our post show research showed that 97% of the visitors saw the Expo as an opportunity to see new products and technology.

The Gaming Technology Association’s members whose exhibition stands would sit comfortably alongside the world’s best at any global event, will be in full force at the Australasian Gaming Expo. The Australasian Gaming Expo is the “must attend” event.

NOTE: The Australasian Gaming Expo is a trade exhibition, for management representatives of Gaming Industry Organisations only including government, regulatory, research and support bodies, clubs, hotels, casinos, resorts and similar Hospitality Industry venues.  Trade suppliers are not eligible to attend the event unless exhibiting.
