Pollard Banknote Awarded Players’ Loyalty Program Contract By The Kansas Lottery

New Playon® Loyalty Program Powered by Leading Technology Partner, Stellar Loyalty

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (December 15, 2016) -- Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) (“Pollard Banknote”) is pleased to announce it has been awarded a six-year contract to provide the Kansas Lottery with a new Players’ Loyalty solution and program, including development of new mobile and web apps, hosting, operating, and ongoing program optimization of the Kansas Lottery’s new PlayOn® Players’ Loyalty Program. The contract also includes the option of four additional one-year extensions.

The Kansas Lottery’s Players’ Loyalty Program will leverage Pollard Banknote’s PlayOn® player engagement solution, which is powered by a modern, big data cloud and mobile platform from Pollard Banknote’s partner Stellar Loyalty. The program is designed to support lotteries in achieving key business objectives such as acquiring and engaging players before, during, and after ticket purchases across all channels, including web, mobile, and social player engagement channels.

The program will evolve the Kansas Lottery’s existing program by providing a new points and rewards-based player engagement solution, adding value to both winning and non-winning instant and draw game tickets. Players will be able to use the Lottery’s new mobile app to scan tickets for easy points accumulation and entry into second chance contests. Additional features include rewards for social engagement, interactive surveys, fun free play, and more. PlayOn® enhances the lottery experience by further engaging players, in particular a younger tech-savvy demographic, across all lottery touchpoints.

As the most functionally-rich loyalty and engagement platform on the market, the solution provides sophisticated business analytics and insights, enabling the Lottery to capture valuable player data and interactions. The accumulation of these insights can then be transformed into personalized communications to deliver meaningful and contextually-relevant communications, providing added value and incentives to lottery players.

The primary objectives of our Players’ Loyalty Program are to deliver more interactive features for players, build our player base through increased player sign-ups, and support our retail network by using the unique tools of the Players’ Loyalty Program to drive players to retail,” said Terry Presta, Executive Director, Kansas Lottery. “Pollard Banknote has proven experience producing innovative entertainment products and services, and we are eager to incorporate their technology to enrich our player experience.”

We are excited to continue our successful relationship with the Kansas Lottery on a new front as their player loyalty partner,” said Doug Pollard, Co-Chief Executive Officer, Pollard Banknote. “The lottery industry currently faces a common barrier—anonymous players. Unlike other industries that are able to develop intimate levels of understanding about their consumers’ preferences and purchase behaviors, lottery consumers remain largely unknown due to the anonymity of purchases at retail. Our PlayOn® player engagement solution acts as a first step to acquiring consumer information, capturing interactions, and providing lotteries with in-depth insights and analytics about their players’ preferences, behaviors, and expectations. This information will enable the Kansas Lottery to better understand its customers in order to market to them more effectively and interact with them in more meaningful and personalized ways.”

Pollard Banknote’s PlayOn® player engagement solution is powered by Stellar Loyalty—the world’s most technologically-advanced loyalty software company. PlayOn® leverages the company’s Stellar Consumer Relationship Cloud applications to facilitate the functionalities of the platform and provide analytical insights to lotteries. Together, Pollard Banknote and Stellar Loyalty bring added value to a lottery’s customer experience by rewarding and engaging players and delivering consumable/actionable business insights to our lottery partners.

Together, we aim to redefine state lottery player engagement for the modern era.

Spectrum Gaming Group Identifies Top Ten Casino Industry Trends for 2017

LINWOOD, New Jersey (December 13, 2016) -- Spectrum Gaming Group, an independent research and professional services firm serving public- and private-sector clients worldwide, has developed its 13th annual list of Most Important Gaming Trends for 2017.

New Jersey-based Spectrum, together with its sister companies, Spectrum Asia, based in Bangkok, and Spectrum Gaming Capital, based in New York City, tracks these and other trends on a regular basis.

"Spectrum has a strong track record, dating back to 2004, of peering into the future, and helping our clients successfully identify opportunities," said Spectrum Managing Director Michael Pollock. "We trust that this carefully considered list will fill that role in 2017."

Click here to view previous years' lists.

Top 10 Trends for 2017 (in order of prominence)

  1. Significant expansion opportunities are expected to arise as legislation is crafted in Brazil, India and Japan.
  2. Lotteries and casinos will both seek online opportunities -- sometimes with competing efforts in the same states and countries, creating competitive challenges that legislators and regulators must sort out.
  3. Casinos will leverage their under-utilized square footage to create special attractions for Millennials, including lounges, entertainment, and skill-based gaming options.
  4. States will attempt to overcome stagnating gaming receipts by proposing new forms of, or locations for, gaming such as retail gaming (i.e., a limited number of electronic gaming devices in liquor-licensed establishments), satellite casinos, and slots at airports.
  5. Proponents of legalized sports betting -- including the American Gaming Association, state associations and individual operators -- will push their agenda more forcefully as state budgets continue to be strained, and as major sports leagues seek to capture a substantial new revenue stream.
  6. Macau will again become a growth story as gross gaming revenues continue to climb and new integrated resorts open. The mass market will dominate and VIP play will decline to less than 50 percent of GGR for the first time since Macau reverted back to China.
  7. The trend toward private management and, in some instances, private ownership of lotteries will accelerate in various countries and US states.
  8. State legislatures will face pressure to reduce gaming tax rates, as well as to amend or streamline regulations, in response to increasing competition and the potential for saturation in various markets.
  9. More casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City will stage eSports events and contests, while Atlantic City will attempt to reposition itself as an eSports hub.
  10. The South will be a focus of casino opportunities, as the potential for legalization and expansion is debated in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.

These trends and other important issues will be examined at the Winter Meeting of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS), January 6-8 at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, AZ. For more information and to register, CLICK HERE.

National Lottery Launches Christmas ‘Thank You’ Campaign & Fantastic Festive Draws

LONDON, U.K. (December 14, 2016) -- The National Lottery has launched its Christmas campaign with a nationwide TV advert. The 40-second animated ad celebrates the milestone of 500,000 lottery-funded projects – which was reached in 2016 – and thanks the public for what they make possible across the nation by playing National Lottery games.

The ad builds on the momentum generated by the success of this summer’s ‘I Am Team GB’ and ‘I Am ParalympicsGB’ campaigns, and sees a flock of animated tickets flying over famous lottery-funded landmarks – like Cardiff Castle and the Giant’s Causeway.

The tickets then go on to revisit the success in Rio – soaring over a Team GB athlete as she crosses the finish line – before culminating in a festive village square, with a children’s choir singing and people ice skating.

In addition, bespoke in-store POS – including posters, bunting and counter cards – and national print ads will highlights a series of fantastic festive draws that National Lottery retailers can make the most of, including:

  • Christmas Eve Lotto draw, which will have 200 extra raffle prizes of £20,000 (this is in addition to the 20 raffle prizes of £20,000 and 1 raffle prize of £1 million in every Lotto draw)
  • EuroMillions Christmas Mega Week draws on 20 and 23 December – each of which will make 5 guaranteed UK Millionaires (10 in total), with all of them also winning a luxury winter get-together
  • New Year’s Eve Lotto draw, which will have 100 extra raffle prizes of £20,000 (this is in addition to the 20 raffle prizes of £20,000 and 1 raffle prize of £1 million in every Lotto draw)

There have also been a number of Christmas-themed National Lottery Scratchcards on offer for the past few months – including the £2 ‘Christmas Countdown’ and £5 ‘Christmas Advent Calendar 2016’. These still have some big prizes on offer, and make the perfect Secret Santa gift or addition to a seasonal card.

Camelot’s Head of Retail Channel, James Pearson, commented: “We’ve had a lot to celebrate in 2016 – not least of all half a million projects funded and the amazing success of Rio. National Lottery retailers should feel rightly proud of this – and what better time of the year to say thank you than at Christmas. Sales of our festive Scratchcards have been really strong and we hope our retailers really get behind the fantastic Christmas-themed draws too. I’d like to take the opportunity to wish all our National Lottery retailers a happy, prosperous New Year.”

Give Lottery and Scratch Tickets Responsibly this Holiday Season

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (December 13, 2016 – The Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corporation (NSPLCC) is reminding Nova Scotians to keep age in mind when giving lottery products as gifts this holiday season.

"Lottery and Scratch 'N Win tickets can be fun stocking stuffers for adults, but they are not child's play," said Bob MacKinnon, NSPLCC's president and CEO. "Even though it might seem innocent, lottery and scratch tickets are forms of gambling that are only appropriate for adults."

Parents, caregivers and family members are influential role models for children. It is important that they help prevent youth from gambling.

"It is important for adults to send a strong message to our kids," said MacKinnon. "No matter what the season, minors should not take part in any gambling activity."

The NSPLCC and its ticket lottery operator, Atlantic Lottery, continue to take measures to ensure adults and youth understand this responsibility. This includes placing the age of majority messaging on ticket lottery products and confirming ticket lottery retailers are committed to enforcing the 19+ laws.

The NSPLCC also participates in McGill University's Holiday Campaign, which is a way to remind people that they can keep the fun in the holidays by gifting lottery tickets responsibly to adults.

Gallen, Switzerland (December 7, 2016) -- MotoGP have today announced that starting with the 2017 season, the MotoGP, the Moto2 and the Moto3 seasons will be overseen by Sportradar’s Integrity Services, as part of a wider, multi-year integrity partnership.

In what is a first for the motorsport industry, Sportradar, a global leader in understand and leveraging the power of sports data and content, will be providing a range of integrity services across the most prominent motorcycles races worldwide.

The award-winning Fraud Detection System will monitor and analyse betting movements and patterns across all 54 races of the 3 year-long seasons. In addition, Sportradar will deliver five Education and Prevention Workshops to a wide range of participants and stakeholders, as well as providing an e-learning program for all riders and teams.

Asked why MotoGP decided to partner with Sportradar, Dornas CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said: “Prevention of any problem is always more prudent than cure and for sure betting related sport fixing is a problem. It is a problem that thankfully has not hit our sport but it is one that is causing real concern across other sports worldwide. We do not want to get to the point where we are remedying a problem that has encroached onto motorcycle racing, if we can avoid it by being proactive and resolute. This is what this partnership is about: about education, about deterrence and about defences.”

Andreas Krannich, Managing Director Integrity Services at Sportradar added: “We do speak to sports who feel distant or immune to the problem of fixing. That is not MotoGP’s stance. They have been inquisitive, invested and definitive. They have sought the full suite of our Integrity Services to ensure that no stone is left unturned and that no compromises are made. We look forward to working with them and their stakeholder for the next few years and helping them keep MotoGP an example of best practice in the world of motorsports”.

AGE 2017 is Already Setting New Records

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia (December 9, 2016) -- Visitor registration is open for AGE 2017, a full 7 months prior to when we were able to open it for the 2016 Expo and as with last year, Social Media is making registration a simplified process with auto-filled fields via the most popular social networks on the planet. Registrants will be able to see who is attending, identify the most meaningful and relevant Gaming Expo contacts who they’ll benefit from meeting at the Event. We’ve also considered returning visitors, with fields pre-populated, requiring just a couple of clicks to complete the registration.

And of course by registering now will save time by avoiding having to line up on the day. To complete the social media registration just click on this link here.

In another milestone for AGE, with 20% more floor space than what we had in 2016, 90% of the floor space has already been taken by 176 exhibitors. This is exciting news with 9 months to go until the show’s start date, which is the world’s third largest casino gaming equipment exhibition.

Our optimism was further confirmed recently about the event's future at the new ICC Sydney at Darling Harbour.  In November a group of 120 inquisitive exhibitors visited the ICC for a sneak peek of what to expect. Comprising both large and small exhibitors, with their exhibition contractors and their staff, along with the AGE coordinating team, it was a chance to get a first-hand glimpse of what is truly a world class venue for AGE 2017. The highlight of the visit was Hall 3 and while they saw only ½  of the massive 19,000 square metres of floor space that AGE will be occupying in 2017, one visitor was still impressed enough to describe the hall as ‘Cavernous”.

Taking advantage of the multi-purpose seminar rooms complete with smart lecterns at the new ICC Sydney, at AGE 2017 we will be running complimentary seminars for registered exhibition visitors. The seminars will include a “Global CEOs Forum”, to be moderated by Michael Pascoe and a “Women in Gaming” event, along with a range of sessions about topical issues.

The Australasian Gaming Expo is on the 15th to the 17th August, 2017.

NOTE: The Australasian Gaming Expo is a trade exhibition, for management representatives of Gaming Industry Organisations only including government, regulatory, research and support bodies, clubs, hotels, casinos, resorts and similar Hospitality Industry venues.  Trade suppliers are not eligible to attend the event unless exhibiting.

The Gaming Technologies Association’s primary members are Ainsworth Game Technology, Aristocrat Technologies, Aruze Gaming Australia, Scientific Games, Ebet Limited, IGT Australia and Konami Australia.

Her assessment follows confirmation that a total of 91 gaming organisations from 34 nations will be making their ICE debuts in February.

The most represented countries comprise, the United Kingdom (17 new exhibitors), followed by Malta (13), United States (6), China, Cyprus and Taiwan (all 4) and Philippines, Spain and Serbia (all 3).

The remaining countries being represented with first time exhibitors at ICE are: Belize, British Virgin Islands, Curacao, Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden and Ukraine (2) and Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Estonia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Malaysia, Moldova and Switzerland (1 new exhibitor each).

Kate Chambers commented: “Each year we undertake an extensive research programme amongst our customer base of visitors and one of the top quoted reasons for attending ICE is the opportunity it provides to meet and connect with new companies and potential new suppliers. Large business to business events such as ICE provide a valuable opportunity to expand horizons and forge new contacts as well as meet with the better known innovators and suppliers in the business. "

"However, what I think makes ICE unique is that our first time exhibitors, the X Factor in the ICE proposition, are drawn from throughout the gaming world, thereby providing visitors with an international perspective as opposed to a regional or a national one, in the process bringing a new dimension and vitality to the show floor.”

ICE Totally Gaming is the only b2b gaming event that brings together the online and offline gaming sectors.

Featuring world-leading innovators drawn from casino, betting, bingo, lottery, mobile, online and street gaming, ICE provides the most comprehensive shop window on world gaming and in 2016 attracted a record attendance of 28,487 drawn from 150 nations.
