IGT Signs Six-Year Contract Extension to Continue Providing Lottery Technology and Software Support Services for Instituto Provincial De Loterias y Casinos in Buenos Aires, Argentina

LONDON, U.K. (December 15, 2016) -- International Game Technology PLC (NYSE:IGT) announced that its subsidiary, IGT Foreign Holdings Corporation (with International Game Technology PLC, hereinafter "IGT" or "the Company"), has signed a six-year contract extension to provide a lottery central system upgrade to Boldt Gaming SA, which, in turn, will provide the system to Instituto Provincial De Loterias y Casinos of the Province of Buenos Aires in Argentina ("Buenos Aires Lottery").

The central system will continue to process the Buenos Aires Lottery's draw-based lottery transactions. IGT will also provide hardware and software support through September 2022. IGT, through its original agreement with Boldt Gaming, has been providing lottery products and support services to the Buenos Aires Lottery since 1993.

INTRALOT Named Apparent Successful Vendor By The Idaho Lottery For A 10-Year Term

ATHENS, Greece (December 9, 2016) -- INTRALOT Inc, a subsidiary of INTRALOT Group in the United States, was selected by the Idaho Lottery as the Apparent Successful Vendor, after an open and highly competitive bidding process to provide Lottery Gaming System services for the Idaho Lottery. The contract is for a ten year period, from October 1, 2017, through September 30, 2027, with an option to extend for up to a maximum of two additional five-year terms.

The contract value for the initial term is estimated at USD 60m and provides for a secure central gaming system capable of delivering, managing, and accounting for all current in-state and multi-state Draw Games, inventory control and logistics for the full complement of Scratch Games, and other related services. INTRALOT has been supplying the Idaho Lottery with Gaming systems services since 2007.

Spectrum Gaming Group Identifies Top Ten Casino Industry Trends for 2017

LINWOOD, New Jersey (December 13, 2016) -- Spectrum Gaming Group, an independent research and professional services firm serving public- and private-sector clients worldwide, has developed its 13th annual list of Most Important Gaming Trends for 2017.

New Jersey-based Spectrum, together with its sister companies, Spectrum Asia, based in Bangkok, and Spectrum Gaming Capital, based in New York City, tracks these and other trends on a regular basis.

Top 10 Trends for 2017 (in order of prominence)

  1. Significant expansion opportunities are expected to arise as legislation is crafted in Brazil, India and Japan.
  2. Lotteries and casinos will both seek online opportunities -- sometimes with competing efforts in the same states and countries, creating competitive challenges that legislators and regulators must sort out.
  3. Casinos will leverage their under-utilized square footage to create special attractions for Millennials, including lounges, entertainment, and skill-based gaming options.
  4. States will attempt to overcome stagnating gaming receipts by proposing new forms of, or locations for, gaming such as retail gaming (i.e., a limited number of electronic gaming devices in liquor-licensed establishments), satellite casinos, and slots at airports.
  5. Proponents of legalized sports betting -- including the American Gaming Association, state associations and individual operators -- will push their agenda more forcefully as state budgets continue to be strained, and as major sports leagues seek to capture a substantial new revenue stream.
  6. Macau will again become a growth story as gross gaming revenues continue to climb and new integrated resorts open. The mass market will dominate and VIP play will decline to less than 50 percent of GGR for the first time since Macau reverted back to China.
  7. The trend toward private management and, in some instances, private ownership of lotteries will accelerate in various countries and US states.
  8. State legislatures will face pressure to reduce gaming tax rates, as well as to amend or streamline regulations, in response to increasing competition and the potential for saturation in various markets.
  9. More casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City will stage eSports events and contests, while Atlantic City will attempt to reposition itself as an eSports hub.
  10. The South will be a focus of casino opportunities, as the potential for legalization and expansion is debated in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.

Lottery Sends $26.1 Million to Education in Past Month

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri (December 9, 2016) -- The Missouri Lottery today transferred $26.1 million in profits to the Lottery Proceeds Fund.

The December transfer of $26,142,925 is based on ticket sales in November, and it brings the total for FY17 to more than $143.7 million.

Since Missouri Lottery sales started in 1986, the Lottery has generated more than $5.5 billion for the state and public education.

Annual Lottery proceeds comprise about 4 percent of the state’s funding for public education – an effort shared by local, state and federal governments.

Programs funded in FY17 include the A+ Scholarship Program, the Foundation Program and Access Missouri, among many others.

In addition to providing funds for public education, the Lottery also benefits the state by collecting state taxes on prizes of more than $600.

Malta Gaming Authority Interim Performance Report for the Gaming Industry for the Period January to June 2016 Finds Sector is Growing Rapidly

Gaming Sector Employment Up By 31 Per Cent

MALTA (December 10, 2016) – The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has published its interim performance report for the period January to June 2016. The report reviews the performance of the gaming industry under the governance of MGA in terms of economic value added, employment, number of licensed operators and tax revenue together with developments in demand trends and in the supply capabilities of operators. The report includes an introductory section highlighting the key performance indicators for the first half of 2016 as well as a medium term outlook into the future followed by a detailed report explaining key statistics for land-based and remote gaming sectors.   • During the period under review, the gaming industry directly contributed 12.0% of the total economic value added generated in the Maltese economy with employment in the gaming industry rising by 31% year on year. Furthermore, Gross Value Added for the first six months of 2016 increased by 11.9% compared to Jan to Jun 2015,
  • Land-based activities generated over 250 new jobs when compared to the second half of 2015 whilst new jobs in the remote gaming business increased by eight times as much,
  • Tax revenues amounted to €28 million during the first half of 2016, which represented 4.6% of the total indirect tax intake of the Maltese Government,
  • As at the end of June 2016, there were 250 registered remote gaming operators, holding 490 licences collectively,
  • The Authority developed a regulatory framework for games of skill,
  • MGA continued to work with the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) on the implementation of the new 4th Anti Money Laundering Directive set to come into force next year,
  • Remote gaming regulations were amended to strengthen consumer protection and promote administrative simplification,
  • MGA continued with the work on a regulatory overhaul which should strengthen and future-proof the gaming industry in Malta (to be brought into force in 2017),
  • The gaming industry in Malta is expected to continue growing robustly in 2017.

 

The MGA will publish a full year industry performance report in May 2017 when it publishes its Annual Report for the financial year ending 31 December 2016.

The ad builds on the momentum generated by the success of this summer’s ‘I Am Team GB’ and ‘I Am ParalympicsGB’ campaigns, and sees a flock of animated tickets flying over famous lottery-funded landmarks – like Cardiff Castle and the Giant’s Causeway.

The tickets then go on to revisit the success in Rio – soaring over a Team GB athlete as she crosses the finish line – before culminating in a festive village square, with a children’s choir singing and people ice skating.

In addition, bespoke in-store POS – including posters, bunting and counter cards – and national print ads will highlights a series of fantastic festive draws that National Lottery retailers can make the most of, including:

  • Christmas Eve Lotto draw, which will have 200 extra raffle prizes of £20,000 (this is in addition to the 20 raffle prizes of £20,000 and 1 raffle prize of £1 million in every Lotto draw)

"Lottery and Scratch 'N Win tickets can be fun stocking stuffers for adults, but they are not child's play," said Bob MacKinnon, NSPLCC's president and CEO. "Even though it might seem innocent, lottery and scratch tickets are forms of gambling that are only appropriate for adults."

Parents, caregivers and family members are influential role models for children. It is important that they help prevent youth from gambling.

"It is important for adults to send a strong message to our kids," said MacKinnon. "No matter what the season, minors should not take part in any gambling activity."

The NSPLCC and its ticket lottery operator, Atlantic Lottery, continue to take measures to ensure adults and youth understand this responsibility. This includes placing the age of majority messaging on ticket lottery products and confirming ticket lottery retailers are committed to enforcing the 19+ laws.

The NSPLCC also participates in McGill University's Holiday Campaign, which is a way to remind people that they can keep the fun in the holidays by gifting lottery tickets responsibly to adults.

Our optimism was further confirmed recently about the event's future at the new ICC Sydney at Darling Harbour.  In November a group of 120 inquisitive exhibitors visited the ICC for a sneak peek of what to expect. Comprising both large and small exhibitors, with their exhibition contractors and their staff, along with the AGE coordinating team, it was a chance to get a first-hand glimpse of what is truly a world class venue for AGE 2017. The highlight of the visit was Hall 3 and while they saw only ½  of the massive 19,000 square metres of floor space that AGE will be occupying in 2017, one visitor was still impressed enough to describe the hall as ‘Cavernous”.

Taking advantage of the multi-purpose seminar rooms complete with smart lecterns at the new ICC Sydney, at AGE 2017 we will be running complimentary seminars for registered exhibition visitors. 91 First Time Exhibitors Confirmed for ICE
