IGT Signs Seven-Year Contract Extension With The Georgia Lottery Corporation To Provide New Lottery Products And Services Through September 11, 2025

LONDON, U.K. (October 31, 2016) -- International Game Technology PLC (NYSE:IGT) announced that its subsidiary, IGT Global Solutions Corporation (with International Game Technology PLC, hereinafter "IGT"), has signed a seven-year contract extension with the Georgia Lottery Corporation ("Georgia Lottery" or "Lottery") to provide new lottery products and services through Sept. 11, 2025. IGT has partnered with the Georgia Lottery since it first started selling tickets in 1993.

"IGT and the Georgia Lotteryhave had a long and successful partnership for more than 20 years, and this contract extension is a testament to the mutual cooperation and commitment of the two organizations to increase lottery sales and continue generating record profits for education through the deployment of industry-leading solutions," said Jay Gendron, IGT Senior Vice President, WLA North America Lottery.

Under the contract extension, IGT will provide the Georgia Lottery with several components of IGT's Aurora™ platform, including Aurora Transaction Engine, Aurora Open Retail, Aurora Retailer Wizard, Aurora Navigator, and Aurora Performance Intel. Aurora Open Retail, a new retail solution software architecture, will enable the Georgia Lottery to support multiple types of retail solution devices in an efficient manner, improving time to market. In addition, the Georgia Lottery will receive Aurora Navigator back-office applications for Lottery personnel, who will now have the ability to customize the look and feel of the interface to meet their exact needs, help them better manage their business, and enhance productivity. The Georgia Lottery will also receive IGT's Aurora Performance Intel solution, a comprehensive business intelligence and analytics tool that provides insights across all sales channels. IGT's Aurora Retailer Wizard solution will provide a secure website for Georgia Lottery retailers to more effectively manage their businesses, interact with the Lottery, and drive results.

In addition to providing the Georgia Lottery with the above-mentioned suite of Aurora platform components, IGT will replace a significant portion of the Georgia Lottery's existing lottery terminal base with IGT's Altura™ Flex lottery terminals, which feature a smaller footprint along with a large high-resolution display for ease of retailer use and the widely-deployed high-speed AccuTherm Ultra printer. IGT will also provide 6,150 Ticket-Scan™ Plus self-service ticket checkers and an equal amount of the Company's latest Aurora MultiMedia digital signage solution will also be deployed, which will help stimulate increased brand awareness, winner awareness, jackpot awareness, and transaction activities. As part of the contract extension, 4,650 new KENO video controller units will be installed by IGT at authorized KENO retailers throughout the state.

Additionally, IGT will provide select Georgia Lottery retailers with the Gemini™ Touch, IGT's new self-service lottery vending machine, which provides fully customizable screens and support for up to 28 instant-ticket games and a configurable number of draw games. The Gemini Touch will also feature a cashless payment option.

Further, a material portion of the existing retailer communications network will be upgraded to the latest advanced generation of satellite technology. Lastly, as part of the contract extension, IGT will provide integration and enhancements to the Georgia Lottery's iLottery player portal on its website.

IGT will continue to provide the Georgia Lottery with ongoing services, including installation and maintenance of the central system components, retailer equipment, and the communications network; data center operations; call center operations; field services; consumables; an end-to-end iLottery program; and marketing and operational support.

The Georgia Lottery recorded a record $4.56 billion in total sales in its fiscal year 2016. As one of the top performing and most efficient lotteries in the world, the Georgia Lottery has raised more than $17.8 billion for the students of Georgia.

Scientific Games Wins 12th Contract with Sun International

Sun International awarded Scientific Games a comprehensive order to provide the full spectrum of the Company's sophisticated casino-management solutions to drive floorwide operating efficiencies and player engagement at its new 92,000 square meter (1,000,000 square feet) casino resort, slated to open in April 2017 with 2,000 slot machines and 60 table games.

LAKEWOOD, NJ (November 3, 2016) – Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) experts traveled to Santiago, Chile recently to host customized training for Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ), Chile’s casino regulator.

Chile is a jurisdiction widely recognized for its strong licensing process and highly professional industry. The SCJ continues to strive for excellence, and as part of its efforts, contacted GLI to provide expert and customized training for the gaming regulatory entity.

Produced through GLI’s world-renowned education program, GLI University®, the training was tailored to meet the jurisdiction’s specific needs as well as Chile standards requirements.

Global Lottery Growth Up 4.5% Half-Year on Half-Year; Sales Underpinned by North America

Lotteries worldwide continued to build on their generally positive start to the year, entertaining an aggregate half-year on half-year increase in sales of 4.5% globally, edging up on a first-quarter on first-quarter increase in sales of 3.1%. Half-year on half-year sales were up sharply in both the African and North American markets in the aggregate, and were up moderately across the board otherwise.

BASEL, Switzerland (November 1, 2016) -- Lotteries worldwide continued to build on their generally positive start to the year, entertaining an aggregate half-year on half-year increase in sales of 4.5% globally, edging up on a first-quarter on first-quarter increase in sales of 3.1%. Half-year on half-year sales were up sharply in both the African and North American markets in the aggregate, and were up moderately across the board otherwise.

The African region enjoyed the strongest performance over the first half of 2016, with participating African lotteries reporting an aggregate increase in sales of 21% for H1 2016, as against H1 2015. As in Q1 2016, the main contribution to the performance of the African market came from the strong showing of the South African national lottery. Elsewhere in Africa, Morocco’s La Marocaine des Jeux continued its good form, reporting an increase in sales of 21% for H1 2016 over H1 2015, in line with the region as a whole, while Loterie Nationale Morocco reported a first-half on first-half increase in sales of 8.8%. Also in positive territory was Ghana’s National Lottery Authority, which recorded a first-half on first-half increase in sales of 7.6%. Offsetting these results, sales at the Mauritius National Lottery contracted over H1 2016, as against H1 2015.

Buoyed by the record-breaking Powerball draw of January 2016, the North American market also performed strongly over the first six months of the year, with participating North American lotteries reporting an aggregate first-half on first-half increase in sales of 9.5%. As in the first quarter of 2016, lotteries across the continent swept the board with positive results. The Minnesota Lottery, California Lottery, Kentucky Lottery, and Tennessee Education Lottery all enjoyed double-digit growth over the period January–June 2016, as against the period January–June 2015. Topping the bill was the Minnesota Lottery, which reported an increase in sales of 15.9% over H1 2016, as against H1 2015. With similar performances, the California Lottery reported an increase in sales of 13.9% for the two consecutive quarters January–June 2016, as against the corresponding quarters of 2015, while the Tennessee Education Lottery and the Kentucky Lottery witnessed sales increases of 12.9% and 12% respectively across the same timeframes.

For its part, the Florida Lottery broke all sales records in fiscal year 2015-16, reaching more than USD 6 billion in sales – representing a half year-on-half year increase in sales of 9.1% – while the New York Lottery saw its first-half on first-half sales increase by 8.3%. Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation enjoyed the best performance of participating Canadian lotteries, reporting an increase in sales of 6.6% over the six months to June 2016, as against the corresponding revenue period of 2015.

The European region saw participating European lotteries recording a half-year on half-year increase in sales of 3.9%. Norway’s Norsk Tipping continued in its recent good form, overseeing a six-month on six-month increase in sales of 10.8%. Also performing strongly were France’s FDJ, which reported a first-half on first-half increase in sales of 8.7%, and Poland’s Totalizator Sportowy, which reported a first-half on first-half increases in sales of 8.2%. With no significant jackpot in Q2 2016 at Hungary’s Szerencsejáték Zrt., lottery sales there declined slightly, whereas sales of sports betting products increased on the back of the UEFA European Championship. Overall, the Hungarian national lottery was up 3.8% half-year on half-year. In contrast, Greece’s OPAP found itself in negative territory, recording a half-year on half-year decrease in sales of 4.3%. Nevertheless, Q2 2016 GGR remained broadly stable at the Greek national lottery, on the basis of the continued performance of lottery games and an increased year-on-year contribution from sports betting.

In the Asia Pacific region, results were once again in positive territory, with participating Asia Pacific lotteries recording an aggregate increase in sales of 3.3%. Leading the way was China Sports Lottery, which saw its sales grow by 8.4% over the first half of 2016, as compared against the first half of 2015. Growth at the China Sports Lottery was predicated on June 2016 sales, which increased by 47.2% over the corresponding month of 2015.

Australia’s Lotterywest also fared strongly, reporting an H1-on-H1 increase in sales of 6.9%. In contrast to the situation at China Sports Lottery, sales at China Welfare lottery essentially held steady over the period January–June 2016 versus the period January–June 2015, contracting by 0.5%. Overall, sales of lottery products at the China Welfare Lottery fell slightly across the board, excepting for VLT sales, which were up by 4.4% H1-on-H1. Elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region, sales of the Takara-kuji lottery at Japan’s Mizuho Bank declined slightly.

In Latin America, participating Latin American lotteries reported an aggregate increase in sales of 2%, on the basis of revised reporting measures from Argentina’s Lotería Nacional Sociedad del Estado. The Argentinian national lottery continued its rapid growth in 2016, reporting a double-digit increase in sales for the first half of 2016, as against the first half of 2015. Elsewhere in Latin America, performance was tempered. For its part, Mexico’s Lotería National para la Asistencia Pública reported a first-half on first-half increase in sales of 5.2%, while sales at Chile’s Polla Chilena recovered, growing by 4.2% over H1 2016, as against H1 2015. Offsetting the performance of other lotteries in the region was Brazil’s Caixa Econômica Federal, which saw its sales contract slightly over the H1-on-H1 timeframe.

New Hampshire Lottery Teams Up with New Hampshire Home Builders Association to Kick-Off Tiny House New Hampshire

CONCORD, N.H.(October 28, 2016) – The New Hampshire Lottery and the New Hampshire Home Builders Association (NHHBA) formally launched Tiny House New Hampshire, a unique and fun workforce development initiative, during a press conference today at Alvirne High School in Hudson. As part of the new initiative, high school students from Career Technical Center construction programs at four schools across the state will design and build “tiny houses,” which typically span 100- and 400-square-feet. The tiny house movement has gained momentum in recent years as people have sought to downsize their living space, according to thetinylife.com.

“The New Hampshire Lottery is thrilled to partner with the New Hampshire Home Builders Association on this exciting new program that is giving students a chance to learn valuable skills as they design and build tiny houses,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission.

In partnering with NHHBA, the New Hampshire Lottery contributed custom trailers for transporting tiny houses. The student-built homes will be displayed during the 50th New Hampshire State Home Show from March 17 to March 19, during which a panel of judges will choose the first-place tiny house. Four of the five homes will be raffled or auctioned during the New Hampshire State Home Show, with proceeds benefiting the participating schools and NHHBA.

The New Hampshire Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders have had a long history of engaging our future home builders in unique projects,” said Paul Sullivan, president, New Hampshire Home Builders Association. “Building a tiny house gives our students the opportunity to use the construction skills they are taught in the classroom. Our goal is to get them excited about becoming builders in our community and enjoy successful construction careers.”

To help drive awareness and interest in this new program, the New Hampshire Lottery is also launching a new scratch ticket game, “Tiny House Big Money,” and the top second-chance prize will be one of the student-built tiny houses. Tiny House Big Money, which features a $10,000 grand prize, will launch in January.

Building the tiny house will be a great experience for the whole class,” said Jamie Sherman, a building trades student at Alvirne High School. “Some of us want to go into this field after graduation and others want to have a little bit of background information on construction and carpentry for the future they are going to pursue. Making this tiny house as a class will be great for us to learn team work and what it is like to be in the real world on a job site.”

Nearly 100 students from the following New Hampshire high schools are taking part in Tiny House New Hampshire and will build a total of five tiny houses:

  • Huot Technical Center, which is a regional Career Technical Center program for students in the Lakes Region
  • Kennett High School in North Conway
  • Alvirne High School in Hudson
  • Seacoast School of Technology, which has formed two teams that will each build a tiny house.

 

Tiny House New Hampshire is an authentic learning opportunity for students from the four Career Technical Centers, providing new curriculum in our school in electrical, plumbing, heating and building finishes in addition to typical building processes,” said Steve Beals, principal at Alvirne High School.

Our students and staff are excited to be part of the growing national popularity of tiny houses and the skills learned will help students better understand the growing needs of skilled homebuilders. Skills in homebuilding will provide a lifetime asset to all students, whether continuing in the trade in the future or simply hoping to fulfill the American dream of homeownership.  We are fortunate to be part of Tiny House New Hampshire and appreciate the efforts of the New Hampshire Lottery and the New Hampshire Homebuilders Association.”

NHHBA expects it to take about 550 hours for students to complete the homes, with a budget of $15,000 to $20,000 for each house. NHHBA is sourcing all materials for the program and is seeking financial and material donations. NHHBA members are serving as mentors to participating students.

"Getting involved with the New Hampshire Home Builders Association, the Lakes Region Chapter of the Builders' Association, along with resources made available to us by the New Hampshire Lottery, has been an exceptional opportunity for students to receive in-depth, hands-on experiences in many of the construction phases that is challenging for our technical programs to achieve,” said Matthew Towle, building construction instructor at J. Oliva Huot Technical Center in Laconia.

The project has created an immense amount of energy for our students and my programming. I look forward to the connections that our industry professionals will be making with young tradespeople."

Simon Patenaude, Interim President and CEO of Loto Québec, Has Died

QUEBEC, Montreal, Canada (October 31, 2016) – It is with immense regret that Loto-Québec’s Board of Directors and executive management learned that Simon Patenaude, President of Lottery Operations and, since last March, LotoQuébec’s Interim President and CEO, has passed away. Mr. Patenaude was admitted to hospital last August for heart-related problems. He died on October 28 following a pulmonary embolism that resulted in a heart attack.

The Corporation’s managers and employees received the sad news early this morning. In a note addressed to all staff, Lynne Roiter, Secretary General and Vice President of Legal Affairs, who had taken over for Mr. Patenaude as Interim President and CEO, praised the human and professional qualities of this beloved colleague: “Over the past 30 years, many of us got to know Simon well. Highly respected as a colleague and manager, he was particularly known for his dedication, leadership, charisma and concern for the good of our company. But more than that, he was considered a great man for his human qualities, his sense of humour, close ties with employees and genuine interest in the people around him.”

Fortin, Chairman of Loto-Québec’s Board, also paid tribute to Mr. Patenaude, both personally and on behalf of the Members of the Board: “Simon was a pillar of our Corporation because of his leadership, his kindness, his vision and his many other qualities. He made a tremendous contribution in shaping Loto-Québec over the years and making it the success it is today. He will always be remembered. It was a privilege to know him and have crossed his path.”

Simon Patenaude began his career at Loto-Québec in 1984 in the Marketing Department and climbed the ranks to General Manager of Marketing in 2001. Twelve years later, he was appointed Corporate Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs, later returning to the Lotteries sector as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and then President of Lottery Operations, a position he held since March 2015. Last spring, he was named Loto-Québec’s Interim President and CEO.

To ensure the continuity of commercial activities, Isabelle Jean, Vice President of Corporate Strategy, Innovation and Public Affairs, will continue acting as Interim President Lottery Operations, and Lynne Roiter as Loto-Québec’s Interim President and CEO.

MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania (October 31, 2016) -- On November 1, the Pennsylvania Lottery’s beloved “Snowfall” commercial, featuring Joe, Rita, and the carolers, returns to television for its 25th holiday season. Its catchy jingle is a shortened take-off on “The 12 Days of Christmas,” with six lottery games filling in for the traditional swans-a-swimming, gold rings and turtle doves.

The moment they hear the carolers sing, many Pennsylvanians reflexively smile, sing along and mentally count the weeks until they can put up the tree,” said Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “We are proud that our popular commercial brings back so many warm memories for viewers and has become a Keystone State holiday tradition.”

The original commercial, filmed in Pittsburgh, aired from 1992 to 2011. In 2012, the Lottery produced a high-definition, shot-for-shot remake in Philadelphia. It began airing that fall.

The remake is such a faithful reproduction that many viewers couldn’t tell the difference,” Svitko added. “The biggest hint is that the newer version is produced in wide-screen format. Plus, if you look carefully, you may notice some LED lights.”

A Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off is the gift that keeps on giving, and players are getting a second chance this holiday season. Every non-winning Holiday Scratch-off is eligible to be entered in the Holiday Magic 2nd Chance Giveaway.

Exhibitors Get a Taste of the New ICC Sydney

SYDNEY, Australia (November 4, 2016) -- A group of 120 inquisitive exhibitors took over the new International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour today. Comprising both large and small exhibitors, with their exhibition contractors and their staff, along with the AGE coordinating team, it was a chance to get a firsthand glimpse of what is truly a world class venue for AGE 2017.

Divided into 5 groups of 24, with each group being led by two representatives of the ICC, the visitors were escorted into the building via the imposing main entrance stairway that leads to a very impressive exhibition foyer and registration area.

The groups then got to see the multi-purpose seminar rooms complete with smart lecterns, remote powered privacy screens and flexible seating arrangements.

They also got to see the enormous loading tunnel which will allow all four halls being used for AGE 2017, to be loaded simultaneously.

But the highlight of the visit was Hall 3 and while they saw only ½  of the massive 19,000 square metres of floor space that AGE will be occupying in 2017, one visitor was still impressed enough to describe the hall as ‘Cavernous”.

The whole group was then treated to a light lunch at L’Aqua on Cockle Bay where Ross Ferrar the CEO of the event organiser announced that “already 80% of the floor space has been sold for 2017”.
