IGT’s After School Advantage Program Donates $14,000 New Computer Lab to In Full Motion, Inc.

IGT, In Partnership with the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation, Launch the 281st After School Advantage Lab

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (November 15, 2016) -- IGT unveiled a new After School Advantage computer lab at In Full Motion, Inc., in support of their “Prep Academy,” at an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The opening is part of a worldwide program IGT implemented in 1999 to serve at-risk youth in communities where the Company has offices. IGT provides government lotteries and the commercial gaming industry with proven solutions across the entire continuum of products and channels, and is the technology partner to the Tennessee Education Lottery. The Lottery provided funding for 73 after-school programs during 2015-2016, serving 17,311 students throughout the state.

"The Lottery’s impact on education in Tennessee continues to grow,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation. “We are proud to partner with IGT to strengthen valuable after-school programs in various locations throughout the state. By helping provide computer labs, students have a chance to practice and expand computer literacy skills at an early age.

As part of IGT’s $14,000 donation, the In Full Motion program received 14 desk top computers, monitors, a Dell laptop, a printer, and learning software. IGT Tennessee employees worked with In Full Motion, Inc. to tailor this computer lab to suit the needs of its students. The computer lab will be available for students during after-school hours, Saturdays, and summer sessions.

IGT’s donation will add a valuable component to In Full Motion’s successful after-school program,” said Chris Shaban, Regional Vice President of IGT. “Through this donation, students are granted access to a powerful combination of educational resources and state-of-the-art technology. IGT is proud to continue to support the local youth in Nashville.

In Full Motion, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to inner city/at risk youth in achieving the goal of becoming a productive citizen, while empowering these young people with the necessary tools to be successful. In Full Motion, Inc.’s after school program is known as "The Prep Academy."  The Prep Academy is an ACT preparation, mentoring and tutorial program for at risk youth. The Prep Academy provides students with after school, Saturday and summer sessions that include early exposure to ACT testing, ACT preparation classes, academic tutoring in reading, math, science and English. In Full Motion brings together parents, teachers, community partners and volunteers who have the same desire to see students stay in school, graduate high school and attend college.

Camelot UK Lotteries Limited Announce Half-Year Financial Results

LONDON, U.K. (November 16, 2016) -- Camelot UK Lotteries Limited (‘Camelot’) today announced that National Lottery ticket sales for the first six months of its 2016/17 financial year (1 April to 24 September 2016) were £3,389 million.

During the period, Camelot generated direct returns for National Lottery Good Causes of £783 million1 – over £30 million every week – taking the total delivered to date to more than £36 billion. National Lottery funding has now been awarded to a landmark 500,000 individual projects across the UK – the equivalent of 160 life-changing lottery grants in every neighbourhood.

Although elite sport only receives 4% of all money raised for Good Causes, two of the most high-profile recipients of National Lottery funding during the period were Team GB and ParalympicsGB. The impact of this funding was clear to see, with virtually all of Britain’s medallists in Rio supported by The National Lottery. Great Britain and Northern Ireland also made history as the first-ever host nation to improve on its home medal haul at the following Games.

To thank National Lottery players for their huge contribution in making this sporting success possible, Camelot teamed up with ITV to stage ‘I Am Team GB’. Nearly one million people took part, making it the UK’s biggest ever sports day, and research shows that over four million people say they now feel inspired to be more active as a result.

Over the half-year, Camelot awarded £1,928 million in prizes to players and created 183 new lottery millionaires – more than one a day – taking the total amount awarded to date to over £61 billion and the total number of millionaires created since The National Lottery’s launch to more than 4,400. Combined with the Lottery Duty it pays to the Government and the commission earned by its retail partners, Camelot returns 95% of all revenue back to society.

This half-year’s total sales and returns to Good Causes compare with record-breaking sales of £3,615 million and returns of £875 million respectively for the corresponding six months last year. There were some encouraging signs of improvement over the summer this year, and the longer-term trend also remains very healthy, with total annual National Lottery sales growth of almost 50% since the start of Camelot’s third licence in 2009.

Scientific Games

Sales across The National Lottery’s digital channels grew to a record £726 million over the half-year and were particularly strong through mobile, where sales climbed by 13.5%. The National Lottery’s GameStore range of online and in-store instant play games also performed strongly, with sales growing to a first-half high of £1,434 million following the launch of a series of innovative new games.

Sales of draw-based games picked up towards the end of the first half of 2016/17 after a challenging start, particularly over the first quarter. After a record-breaking end to the last financial year following last October’s changes to Lotto, the game had a comparatively quieter six months but its performance was buoyed towards the end of period by the special draw Camelot held to celebrate Team GB’s outstanding achievements in Rio and the success of the ‘I Am Team GB’ campaign. Lotto’s performance was also boosted after Camelot lowered the maximum level that the jackpot can reach to give players more ‘must be won’ moments.

Since doing so, the jackpot has reached this ‘cap’ twice and, because it can no longer roll and must be won, it has made the game more appealing and exciting for players.

As anticipated ahead of September’s planned innovations, EuroMillions had another soft six months across the participating countries due to the continued lack of long roll series and huge jackpots.

However, the innovative changes introduced at the end of the half-year to offer bigger jackpots more often and at least double the number of guaranteed UK millionaires have reinvigorated the game, with early analysis showing a 60% sales uplift. On top of that, the game has already seen one massive jackpot of £153 million and, in less than two months, a further 44 guaranteed UK prizes of £1 million.

Camelot CEO Andy Duncan said: “Despite the challenges we’ve faced over the last six months, our performance over the half-year still represents one of our best since The National Lottery’s launch in 1994 – and returning over £2.7 billion to Good Causes and players in just six months is no small achievement.

With the current climate of economic uncertainty and signs that consumers are being more cautious with their spending, we expect the next six months to be similarly challenging. We’re also seeing no let-up in the direct, often aggressive, competition we’re facing from the wider gambling sector – especially from bet-on-lottery firms purporting to offer the same products as The National Lottery – and from large ‘umbrella-style’ society lotteries. But, with some great plans lined up, there’s still all to play for in the second half of the year – and we’ll be doing everything we can to deliver even more for our players and for the millions of people for whom National Lottery funding is so vital.

Pollard Banknote Awarded Contract as Instant Game Supplier to the Kansas Lottery

Jean-Luc Moner-Banet Re-Elected President of the World Lottery Association (WLA)

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (November 10, 2016) -- Jean-Luc Moner-Banet, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Loterie Romande, was re-elected on Wednesday November 9, 2016 as President of the World Lottery Association (WLA). First elected to the post in September 2012, Jean-Luc Moner-Banet will pursue his mission at the helm of the association with a third and final mandate lasting two more years.

The Loterie Romande is delighted with this re-election, which allows Switzerland to benefit once again from a representation of paramount importance on the global stage of lotteries and sports betting companies.

During the World Lottery Summit 2016 (WLS 2016), held 6 - 9 November in Singapore, regular members of the World Lottery Association participated in elections to renew the WLA’s governing body. Jean-Luc Moner-Banet, first elected as the WLA’s President in 2012, had put himself forward for a new mandate.

His wealth of experience in the realm of lotteries, together with his dynamic vision of international issues, most notably in the arena of sports betting and the integrity of sports, persuaded the assembled members to appoint him to the WLA’s highest office for a third and final two-year mandate.

The WLA comprises around 150 official lottery companies (authorised State lotteries) from over 80 countries worldwide, most of whose revenues (over CHF 250 billion) are redeployed for the public good.

The WLA is the world body for all things connected to lotteries and sports betting. It works towards ensuring the integrity of games and sports betting and implementing the most exacting standards with regard to responsible gaming (prevention and combating of gambling addiction), security and risk management.

The WLA plays a front-line role in the fight against match fixing, co-operating actively with international institutions and the world’s leading international sporting bodies, such as FIFA and the IOC.

It also acts as an international forum where experience and creative ideas relating to future development of lotteries operating for the public benefit can be exchanged.

The Loterie Romande is delighted with this re-election, which allows Switzerland to benefit once again from a representation of paramount importance in the constellation of lotteries and sports betting at a global level.

In an era when private companies active on the Internet, often operating illegally, are challenging the operating business model of officially authorised lotteries worldwide with their exclusively public-utility role, Switzerland has a duty to be actively involved in these matters and have a voice in the all-important debates on such fundamental issues related to operating lottery games and sports betting.

This collaboration is particularly important within the context of the new law on gambling currently undergoing scrutiny in parliament; it helps frame the debate in an international perspective and ensures that the evolution of norms, standards and best practices at a global level are considered.

The board of directors of Loterie Romande encouraged Jean-Luc Moner-Banet to stand again to be WLA President as his position there does not detract from his work as Loterie Romande’s CEO – in fact, quite the reverse is true.

Loto-Québec Report Higher Income for Second Quarter of Fiscal Year 2016-2017

MONTRÉAL, Quebec, Canada (November 10, 2016) -- Midway through the 2016-2017 financial year, Loto-Québec’s income is on the rise. Combined revenues amounted to $1.753 billion (+$3.5 million, or 0.2%), which is slightly higher compared to the same period last year. Net income, i.e. $639.1 million, rose by $21.5 million (+3.5%).

To ensure the efficient management of its resources, the Corporation kept tight control over expenses and optimized business processes. Total expenses thus declined by $10.1 million (-2.1%) compared to last year. Efforts to control spending combined with good performance by its business sectors resulted in Loto-Québec recording the sixth positive quarter in a row.

Casinos

  • Combined revenues reached $421.4 million (+4.9%) and net earnings $117.6 million (+12.3%).
  • Casinos performed well during the second quarter with regard to both revenues and patronage.
  • Promoting varied entertainment offerings in establishments, drawing more customers to gaming tables and the vigorous tourism trade again contributed to higher revenues.

 

Lotteries

  • Lottery revenues totalled $852.6 million (-2.3%), while net income reached $226.7 million (-0.4%).
  • After an exceptional year in 2015-2016, this sector maintained its good performance despite lower revenues.
  • Lotto Max put in a good showing, and event betting continued to grow.
  • Lotto 6/49 sales declined, however, as a result of fewer major jackpot prizes.

 

Gaming establishments

  • Revenues from gaming establishments were $491.1 million (+0.9%), which is slightly higher than last year. Net income totalled $294.8 million (+3.4%).
  • The two gaming halls continued to perform well.

 

Online gaming

  • The Espacejeux.com online gaming continued its growth with revenues of $35.2 million (+24.1%).
  • Our dedicated team continues to add new games and features to enhance customer experience.

Northstar NJ, NJ Lottery & IGT to Honor NJ’S Veterans, Kick Off Renovation Project in Partnership with NJ Department of Military & Veterans Affairs

TRENTON, New Jersey (November 10, 2016) – Just ahead of Veterans Day, Northstar New Jersey Lottery Group, the New Jersey Lottery and IGT New Jersey are proud to announce their plans to undertake renovation projects at New Jersey State Veterans Memorial Homes to benefit each location’s residents.

Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Deputy Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Raymond L. Zawacki and Director of Veteran Health Services Colonel Edward Chrystal, in coordination with the Veterans Homes located in Vineland, Menlo Park and Paramus, have identified a need in each location for a refreshed and refurbished living space for the residents. The scope of the projects will be unique to each home and tailored to the specific needs of the residents, but will include upgrades to furniture, televisions, paint and décor.

Kansas Lottery Launch New Draw Game; Ticket Giveaways at Three Locations

TOPEKA, Kansas (November 14, 2016) --The Kansas Lottery is launching its first new draw game in several years, giving players a chance to win big money for years to come.  In fact, some prizes last a lifetime!  Sales start November 15 for the Lucky for Life game in which the top prize is $1,000 a day for life and the second place prize is $25,000 a year for life.

Lucky for Life plays cost $2 each. Drawings are held twice a week on Monday and Thursday, with the first drawing in Kansas on Thursday, November 17.  Players pick five out of 48 numbers and one number out of 18 for the “Lucky Ball.”  They can choose their own numbers or let the computer pick the numbers (Quick Pick) and can play up to 15 consecutive drawings with a multi-draw ticket.

Lotteriinspektionen Report the Swedish Gaming Market is Growing Steadily

SWEDEN (November 11, 2016) -- The total gambling market has increased by 5 percent during the first three quarters. Games Players with Swedish state (regulated) increased sales by 3 percent during this period compared to the same period last year.

Ttotal turnover of just over 12 billion. Operators without Swedish state continues to take market share and is estimated to have increased its sales by 16 percent, which would correspond to approximately 3.5 billion.

  • ATG's revenue increased by 5 percent and amounted to SEK 2.9 billion.

  • Folkspel, with Bingolotto and Sweden Lotten, had sales of SEK 358 million which is an increase of 5 percent.
  • IOGT-NTO, which among other things has Miljonlotteriet, had sales of SEK 220 million, a decrease of 3 percent.
  • SAP / SSU, which among other things has Kombilotteriet, had sales of SEK 165 million, an increase of 21 percent.

Exhibitors Get a Taste of the New ICC Sydney

SYDNEY, Australia (November 4, 2016) -- A group of 120 inquisitive exhibitors took over the new International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour today. Comprising both large and small exhibitors, with their exhibition contractors and their staff, along with the AGE coordinating team, it was a chance to get a firsthand glimpse of what is truly a world class venue for AGE 2017.

Divided into 5 groups of 24, with each group being led by two representatives of the ICC, the visitors were escorted into the building via the imposing main entrance stairway that leads to a very impressive exhibition foyer and registration area.

The groups then got to see the multi-purpose seminar rooms complete with smart lecterns, remote powered privacy screens and flexible seating arrangements.

They also got to see the enormous loading tunnel which will allow all four halls being used for AGE 2017, to be loaded simultaneously.

But the highlight of the visit was Hall 3 and while they saw only ½  of the massive 19,000 square metres of floor space that AGE will be occupying in 2017, one visitor was still impressed enough to describe the hall as ‘Cavernous”.

The whole group was then treated to a light lunch at L’Aqua on Cockle Bay where Ross Ferrar the CEO of the event organiser announced that “already 80% of the floor space has been sold for 2017”.
