International Game Technology PLC Appoint Fabio Celadon As Senior Vice President, Gaming Portfolio

Reporting to IGT PLC CEO Marco Sala, he will be responsible for five primary areas within IGT's Gaming organization: technological advancements and market and competitive trends; global research, development, and delivery consolidation, and related allocation of budgets and resources; content portfolio evolution; hardware and content roadmaps consolidation and execution; and product performance and results.

Mr. Celadon most recently served as Managing Director, IGT Greater China and Senior Vice President, IGT International. In this role, he was responsible for managing IGT's business and operations across lotteries, video lotteries, sports betting and interactive, and mobile gaming in Greater China. He was also responsible for the strategic development of IGT's business in Greater China, India, and Japan.

During his tenure with IGT and its predecessor companies, Mr. Celadon served as Senior Vice President of Group Strategy and Corporate Development for GTECH S.p.A., where he was responsible for evaluating strategic growth initiatives and mergers and acquisitions.

In addition, he has held several strategy, corporate development, and finance positions including CFO of Lottomatica from 2002 to 2004. Following the acquisition of GTECH by Lottomatica, he relocated to the U.S. where he held the position of GTECH Vice President of New Market Development.

Prior to joining Lottomatica, Mr. Celadon was a partner with Atlantis Capital Partners, a private equity firm, and prior to that, he worked for Morgan Stanley in London in the mergers and acquisitions department. He holds a Law Degree from LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome and an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York. He and his family will be relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada.

First quarter 2017

  • Revenues for the first quarter increased by 15.2% to SEK 398 (345) million

A good start to 2017

The first quarter of 2017 featured continued growth and exciting product news for NetEnt. Compared to the very strong quarter of last year, revenues increased by 15.2 percent (13.0 percent in euro terms) to 398 SEKm, which corresponds to our earlier comments about the quarter. Operating profit increased by 6.3 percent to 136 SEKm and the operating margin was 34.2 percent, compared to 37.1 percent in the same quarter of last year. Costs increased in the quarter in line with previous communication about the future, mainly due to higher office rents and IT costs. The number of gaming transactions in our games amounted to 9.8 billion in the first quarter, representing an increase of 11 percent compared to the first quarter of last year. During the quarter, we signed 15 new customers, which is the highest number ever, and launched 6 new customers. We follow our growth strategy focusing on regulated markets and the expansion continues both in Europe and outside of Europe. In January, we launched our games on the regulated market in Mexico with Codere, one of the leading operators.

The UK continues to contribute significantly to our growth and the potential is still significant, considering our relatively low market share in what is by far Europe’s largest gaming market. Mobile games also remain an important growth factor and accounted for 47 percent of revenues in the quarter.

Exciting product news

At ICE, the gaming industry trade fair in London, we revealed several exciting product news. We announced that we will develop our first game for the fast-growing Virtual Reality (VR) market, based on our previous game success Gonzo’s Quest. I am convinced that VR will play an important role in future gaming and I am really pleased that NetEnt is at the forefront of this development. We also revealed two new branded game titles for 2017 – Planet of the Apes and Emojis® – well-known brands that we expect to turn into truly unique and thrilling games. For Live Casino, we showcased our new mobile product, Common Draw Black Jack, which is strengthening our mobile offering. We also revealed an entirely new bonus function called Live Rewards, set to be launched in the second quarter.

The proposed new gaming legislation in Sweden supports a sustainable gaming industry

In March, the gaming commission presented its proposal for new gaming legislation in Sweden. Overall, the proposal seems to set commercially viable conditions for industry participants while at the same time opening up for new, substantial tax income for the government. We welcome such a new legislation. A modern gaming legislation that leads to a high channelization to regulated gaming forms creates a more secure environment for both players and the industry. We intend to apply for a B2B-license as an industry supplier. Over the years, NetEnt has invested and built up an organization and the expertise to obtain and maintain gaming licenses. NetEnt has licenses and certifications in many European countries such as Denmark, UK, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium, Estonia and Spain. Regulated markets are an important part of our growth and sustainability strategies and no other gaming supplier is present on so many regulated markets like we are.

Future outlook

For the rest of 2017, we see conditions for continued solid growth supported by new games, increasing market shares in the UK, mobile growth, many new customers to launch and our ongoing expansion in North America. We strengthen the organization to increase our production capacity, enter more regulated markets and integrate a large number of new customers. Iowa Senate Votes Unanimously To Confirm Terry Rich As Lottery CEO

CLIVE, Iowa (April 20, 2017) -- Terry Rich’s re-appointment as CEO of the Iowa Lottery has been completed and he will continue to lead the organization for another four years.

The Iowa Senate voted 50-0 Wednesday to confirm Rich’s re-appointment. His current term as CEO ends April 30 and he now will serve another four-year term that begins May 1. Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad had nominated Rich for re-appointment on March 1, sending the nomination to the state Senate for its vote.

Rich has served as CEO of the Iowa Lottery since February 2009. During his first two terms at the lottery, he also served as president of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) in 2014-2015.

Yggdrasil to Launch Revamped Platform iSENSE 2.0+

MALTA (April 21, 2017) -- Yggdrasil Gaming has announced it will launch a revamped version of its HTML client framework over the coming weeks, with a host of upgrades designed to enhance the user experience.

iSENSE 2.0+ will go fully live in the summer, although some features will be available earlier on new titles, including the upcoming Power Plant.

The upgrades include a new, minimalistic UI for both mobile and desktop, that has been designed with a sleek and modern feel in step with the latest trends in mobile app development.

Gaming Authority Tightened Approach to Advertising Online

The Hague (April 24, 2017) -- The Dutch Gaming Authority tightened its approach to advertising on Internet gambling without a license. Under pressure from the Gaming Authority removed now ten advertisers their illegal advertising on the Internet.

The Gaming Authority operates in the enforcement of the principles that apply to providers of illegal remote gambling (online). She continues this heightened enforcement to continually reduce advertising on internet gambling online.

Vice Chairman Mr. HW (Henk) Kesler of the Gaming Authority: "By advertising to combat illegal gambling online we can as far as possible to reduce the risks involved, such as gambling addiction."

Major powers for enforcement

The Gaming Authority looks forward to further consideration by the Senate of Parliament of the bill Remote Gaming (KOA). This bill would allow online gambling under strict conditions which have a license. Kesler: "As long as the legislature does not allow online gambling can we not bound by strict rules to protect players. In addition, the bill contains important additional powers for effective enforcement of laws and regulations," said Kesler.

"Maintaining based prioritization is now clear. Providers know very well how things stand. We therefore focus our attention now on advertisements for illegal games that are posted on websites. And that approach is successful, judging by the reaction of advertisers who obtained illegal advertising on the internet."

The Gambling Authority does not that easy. Everything is designed to protect consumers. Kesler: "We want to make it harder for consumers become addicted to this. We therefore hold of the promoters or affiliates' online gambling on. We previously have done in the (illegal) gokapps we have removed from the app store last year. Advertising is prohibited from illegal gambling. Moreover, we have a special advertising Guidelines clear rules on what is and is not the advertising of gambling." Kesler decision: "Follow the guidelines for advertising. If in doubt do not overtake!"

Florida Lottery Sets New March Record for Contributions to Education

Second Highest Month in History

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (April 24, 2017) -- The Florida Lottery today announces a new March record of $156 million in contributions to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF); bringing the Lottery’s total contributions to education for fiscal year 2016-17 to $1.2 billion with three months remaining in the current fiscal year. This marks the 15th consecutive year that the Lottery has generated more than $1 billion for Florida’s students and schools.

Over the past 29 years, the Florida Lottery has established itself as a dependable funding source for public education, while remaining one of the most efficient lotteries in the nation. Additionally, the Lottery has contributed more than $5 billion to the Bright Futures Scholarship Program to send over 750,000 students to college.

Florida Lottery contributions represent approximately six percent of the state's total education budget. Lottery funds are appropriated by the Florida Legislature and are administered by the Florida Department of Education.

Nebraska Lottery to Join Lucky for Life® Game

“The Game of a Lifetime®” offers a top prize of $1,000 a day for life

LINCOLN, NE (April 24, 2017) -- Starting in August, Nebraska Lottery players will be able to play Lucky for Life, a multi-state Lotto game offered by 23 lotteries across the United States.

Lucky for Life is a $2 Lotto game with a top prize of $1,000 a day for life. Tickets will go on sale at retailers across Nebraska on August 20.

There are many details yet to be determined, but we are excited to add Lucky for Life to our product lineup,” said Brian Rockey, Nebraska Lottery Director. “The prizes are unique and contrast well with our existing Lotto games. We think our players will appreciate the opportunity to win a prize that will last their lifetime. Plus, a portion of every ticket sold goes to support good causes across Nebraska.”

Casino Fines Approved By the PA Gaming Control Board

HARRISBURG, PA (April 26, 2017) -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today levied fines totaling $45,000 against two casinos for violations.

The fines were the result of Board approvals at its public meeting of consent agreements between the PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel and:

  • SugarHouse HSP Gaming, LP, operator of the SugarHouse casino in Philadelphia, which was fined $30,000 for regulatory violations involving its surveillance operational protocols; and
  • IOC-PA, LLC, operator of the Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Fayette County, which was fined $15,000 for an instance in which casino personnel failed to notify the Board and law enforcement of a patron who was overserved alcohol.

 

Details

The fine approved against SugarHouse HSP Gaming, LP stemmed from findings by the PGCB’s Bureau of Gaming Operations during a regulatory compliance assessment audit. A subsequent investigation found that SugarHouse Casino personnel violated internal controls when they failed to enter or timely enter security department notifications of surveillance camera malfunctions, failed to ensure proper log in procedures were followed, and failed to ensure that system modifications operated properly.

The fine against IOC-PA, LLC was the result of a failure by Lady Luck Casino employees to provide proper notification of the removal from the gaming floor of a patron who displayed signs of intoxication after having been served twelve alcoholic beverages over an approximate 8 hour period.

The next meeting of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in the PGCB’s Public Hearing Room located on the second floor of Strawberry Square in Harrisburg.
