Tennessee Lotterys First Quarter Is Highest Since
$103 Million for
Education in Just 3 Months
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (October 17,
2017) -- The Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation continues to shatter its
own records, announcing the highest first quarter since it began Jan. 20, 2004.
The Lottery transferred $103 million to the Lottery for Education Account for
the period of July 1 through Sept. 30, 2017, 14.1 percent higher than the
previous record set during the same period last year.
Total sales were $423.7 million, up
11.8 percent over the prior year.
Drawing-style game sales hit a
record $92.8 million, driven by a Powerball jackpot that grew to $758.7 million
(won Aug. 23), and the launch of KENO To Go.
And with help from the
Lotterys Mighty Jumbo Bucks game, instant game sales were a
record $330.9 million.
These results are great

Georgia Lottery Reaches $19 Billion Raised for HOPE, Pre-K with

Kentucky Lottery Posts Record First Quarter
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (October 17,
2017) -- First quarter FY18 Kentucky Lottery sales were the highest for this
period in history, led by strong Powerball and scratch-off ticket sales.
Total sales for the first quarter of
FY18 (July-September) were $255.9 million. This is an 8.5% or $20.1 million
increase from the same period in FY17. The largest percentage increase, 31.6%,
came from Powerball sales. The $25.8 million in Powerball tickets sold for the
period was $6.2 million more than the previous year. This was a result of the
$785.7 million jackpot in August, the second-largest jackpot in Powerball
Scratch-off tickets showed the
largest dollar increase, up $7.7 million or 5.6% to close the quarter with
$145.2 million in sales. The re-vamped Kentucky CashBall 225 game also posted a
strong increase, up 19.6% to $2.9 million. Keno sales rose 15% to $19.4
million, a $2.5 million increase.
Bottom line results show income
before transfer of dividends up 7% for the quarter at $66.1 million.
Thats a $4.3 million increase for the same period last year.
While the halo effect from
the large Powerball jackpot certainly helped with these results, other solid
efforts are paying off as well, said Kentucky Lottery President and

Harpold Named Advertising Manager for West Virginia Lottery

-- West Virginia Lottery Deputy Director of Marketing Tommy Young announced
Friday that Sara Harpold has been hired as the West Virginia Lotterys
Advertising Manager. She replaces Mike Ross who is retiring from the position
after 31 years of service.

creativity that will make her a valuable asset to our team, Young
Harpold comes to the West Virginia
Lottery after serving as a graphic designer at the Mardi Gras Casino &
Resort since 2003. Harpold was instrumental in the creation and development of
the graphic design office at Mardi Gras where she was responsible for the
creation of marketing materials for promotions, events and campaigns across all
mediums for the resort. She worked closely with the Mardi Gras Marketing
Department on advertising campaigns, promotions, ad copy, radio scripts and
television commercial production and spots, and she coordinated with vendors on
a wide-variety of projects from the production stage to completion.

Arizona Lottery Offering Refunds on Tickets Following Computer
PHOENIX, Arizona (October 11, 2017)
-- To begin, Arizona Lottery is still investigating to determine how the error
occurred. We have added additional procedures to safeguard against this error
occurring again in the future and are confident on the integrity of our
The games affected are Fantasy 5,
Pick 3, All or Nothing and 5 Card Cash.
Powerball, Mega Millions and the
Pick were not affected.
Arizona Lottery operates three
Random Number Generators (RNG) to produce winning numbers for our Arizona draw
games. These are standalone machines that are not connected to any network or
online system. Two of the machines are currently managed with our industry
colleague the Multi State Lottery (MUSL) in Iowa. The third is here in Phoenix
and is used as backup.
The draw team at MUSL followed all
standard procedures. As part of that standard procedure, the draw team randomly
select which RNG will be utilized for each draw. For the morning draw on
September 28 and September 30 and the evening draw on September 29 and October
3, RNG2 was selected. That machine produced duplicate numbers from the most
recent draw that utilized RNG2.
RNG2 has been taken out of use and
Arizona Lottery will utilize RNG1 and RNG3 moving forward. We have also
implemented additional draw audits before numbers are certified.
The integrity of our games is
paramount to Arizona Lottery. We have incredible players at Arizona Lottery and
we appreciate their patience and support.
Players with non-winning tickets for
the four games affected from September 28 October 3, 2017, can return
their tickets for exchange or refund to Arizona Lottery.
Lastly, since the numbers drawn were
the certified numbers -- despite their being duplicated -- all prizes won will
be honoured and paid out.
