$100,000 Weekly Drawings Will Lead Up to Millionaire Raffle

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (November 7, 2017) -- Sales began today for the Pennsylvania Lottery's New Year's Millionaire Raffle, which will feature eight $100,000 Weekly Drawings leading up to the January 6 drawing.

"Millionaire Raffle players really enjoy the opportunity to win twice on each ticket," said Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. "We will award a total of $800,000 in weekly prizes before the main drawing even takes place."

The January 6 drawing will award 6,000 cash prizes totaling more than $5 million: four $1 million prizes, four $100,000 prizes, 100 prizes of $1,000, and 5,892 prizes of $100.

Only 500,000 tickets will be available until 8 p.m. on the drawing date or until sold out. Only ticket numbers sold are included in the drawing. Tickets numbers are sold sequentially across the state, starting at 00000001 and ending at 00500000. Only an exact match wins. 

If all tickets are sold, each $20 ticket offers a 1 in 125,000 chance of winning one of the $1 million top prizes. The drawing's overall chances of winning any prize are 1 in 83.33.

On January 6, winning numbers will be randomly selected by computer and posted at palottery.com after 10 p.m. Players should check each ticket using scanners found at Lottery retailers or with the ticket checker on our official mobile app.

$100,000 Weekly Drawings

Eight $100,000 Weekly Drawings will each award one prize of $100,000. Players do not need to take extra steps to enter these drawings, which will include only the ticket numbers sold during that drawing's qualifying purchase period:

  • Drawing 1: Tickets sold from November 7 - 13.
  • Drawing 2: Tickets sold from November 14 - 20.
  • Drawing 3: Tickets sold from November 21 - 27.
  • Drawing 4: Tickets sold from November 28 - December 4.
  • Drawing 5: Tickets sold from December 5 - 11.
  • Drawing 6: Tickets sold from December 12 - 18.
  • Drawing 7: Tickets sold from December 19 - 25.
  • Drawing 8: Tickets sold from December 26 - January 1.

 

Only an exact match wins. Winning ticket numbers will be posted each week at palottery.com. Players may also scan their ticket to see if it has won a prize.

Nebraska Lottery Tickets Make Great Gifts, If You’re At Least 19

LINCOLN, NE (November 6, 2017) – During the holiday season, and throughout the year, the Nebraska Lottery suggests tickets as a gift option for those hard-to-buy-for individuals on your list.

Lottery Director Brian Rockey has something to add to that: “We always encourage players to play responsibly, and we ask them to give responsibly as well.  Nebraska Lottery tickets are a great gift idea, but they should only be given to recipients who are at least 19 years of age.”

By law, Nebraska Lottery tickets may only be purchased and redeemed by persons who are 19 years or older.

Five different Nebraska Lottery Scratch games have a holiday theme: $1 Santa Paws, featuring scenes of cats and dogs; $2 Break the Snowbank, a wintry take on the “safecracker” theme; $3 Peng-Win Crossword, featuring the popular crossword play style and 30 top prizes of $3,333; $5 Holiday Cash Blast, which gives players a chance to win cash and free Nebraska Pick 5 Lotto plays; and $10 Winter Takes It All, a game with twenty $20,000 top prizes.

Rockey noted that each ticket, whether Scratch or Lotto, carries the minimum age (19) reminder, and the same message appears on all in-store signage as well as in broadcast and print advertising.  “No matter how clever or attractive a game may be, it should always be played in moderation and only be given to individuals who are of legal age to play,” said Rockey.

Amendment 4 passed by Nebraska voters in November of 2004 established the following distribution formula: Education as directed by the Legislature (44.5 percent) - currently distributed to the Nebraska Education Improvement Fund; Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund (44.5 percent); Nebraska State Fair (10 percent); and the Compulsive Gamblers Assistance Fund (1 percent, plus the first $500,000 in fund proceeds each fiscal year).

Every county in Nebraska has benefited from projects funded by Nebraska Lottery proceeds.

IAGR Conference in Johannesburg Declared a 'Huge Success'

LAS VEGAS, NV (November 2, 2017) -- IAGR’s Annual Conference, that took place October 16-19 in Johannesburg, has been declared a huge success by IAGR Board of Trustees and delegates alike.

Dale Fuga, IAGR President and Chief Operating Officer – Liquor and Gaming Authority of Manitoba said: ‘The Conference attracted over 250 delegates representing 41 different gambling jurisdictions representing 31 countries and every continent. We also tackled subjects such as how PR and communication can be used as tools to enhance and extend the reach of gaming regulation, the promise and challenges of Blockchain, how to regulate in the digital market, responsible gambling approaches and interventions, eSports, and  Anti-Money Laundering considerations. Of particular interest for South African delegates was a session on changes in the punter profile and the possible impact to the gambling regulatory landscape in Africa.

‘We were fortunate to have the Hon Mr Lebogang Maile, Gauteng Province MEC for Economic Development, Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development provide a keynote address. One of his key messages was that the gambling industry had a significant role to play in promoting responsible gambling.  He also recognised the important role that IAGR plays in networking, and sharing information on gaming developments and regulation.

‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the presenters for their contributions, compelling insights and for giving their time so freely.  At the Annual General Members Meeting, four of the existing Trustees were confirmed in office and will serve a second and final term.

"Show Me State Parks" 2018 Lottery Calendar Photo Contest

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri (November 3, 2017) -- To create the Missouri Lottery’s 2018 calendar, the Lottery partnered with Missouri State Parks, a division of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and enlisted the help of State Park lovers and Lottery players.

Our two state agencies were already working together to develop the Lottery’s very popular ‘Second Chance of a Lifetime: Summer Parks Sensation’ promotion. Continuing our partnership to coincide with our 2018 calendar contest was an easy decision,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery.

For many years, Lottery players submitted photos in the Lottery’s calendar contest based on themes ranging from cats versus dogs to Missouri hometowns. The 2018 calendar contest, “Show Me State Parks,” challenged respondents to enter their photos of their favorite parks through the Lottery’s Facebook page, Twitter account, website or by mail to any Lottery office.

The response for this contest was overwhelming,” said Reardon. “We received more than 700 entries into the contest, the most we’ve ever collected. Missourians love their State Parks.”

A total of 13 photos of State Parks and Historical Sites were selected to appear in the Lottery’s 2018 calendar: one cover photo and one photo for each month of the year. Contest winners, as listed below, received a photo credit and copies of the calendar. The cover photo photographer received $500, and each of the 12 monthly photographers received $100 in Scratchers tickets.

The success of this contest and our promotion last summer serves as a testament to how agencies within state government can work together towards a common goal using their own strengths,” said Reardon. “When those strengths are one-of-a-kind natural beauty and innovative entertainment, the results speak for themselves.”

SVL Chairman Resigns

KINGSTON, Jamaica (November 6, 2017) -- Co-founder and Chairman of Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL), Paul Hoo, has resigned. Mr Hoo tendered his resignation to the SVL Board of Directors at a Board meeting on Saturday, November 4, 2017. 

Mr Hoo served SVL in several capacities. He was Deputy Chairman from 2001 to 2004, while Peter Stewart led as the Chairman of the company’s Board. He was also SVL’s CEO until the appointment of Brian George in 2003.

After Mr Stewart’s passing in 2004, Mr Hoo assumed Board Chairmanship, with Mr Levy appointed Deputy Chairman.

Outside of his business acumen, Mr Hoo was also known for his philanthropic efforts, and was recently conferred the Order of Distinction, Commander Class (CD), for his contribution to the development of the Sporting Industry in Jamaica.   

As a co-founder of SVL, I can attest to the work Paul has put in to build SVL over the years. The company has experienced impressive and significant growth under his Chairmanship, becoming a force to be reckoned with. The entire Board thanks him for his selfless, dedicated service and stewardship. He is a stalwart in the Gaming Industry and we will miss him,” said SVL’s Deputy Chairman, Ian Levy.

Paul Hoo is one of the founding members of Supreme Ventures. The company began lottery operations on June 25, 2001, and later diversified its portfolio into other areas of the gaming industry including Video Gaming Lounges and Sports Betting. In March of this year, the company added Horse Racing to its suite of offerings. Under the leadership of the founding members, lottery revenues grew from approximately $2 billion in 2001, to $45 billion at the end of 2016, an increase of 2250%. Revenues reported for the half year period ended June 30, 2017 are approximately $27 billion.

Deputy Chairman, Ian Levy, also a founding member, will act as Board Chairman until a new Chairman is appointed.

CT Lottery Kicks-off 4th Annual “Do a ‘Lotto’ Good, Give a Toy!” Holiday Toy Drive to Benefit Connecticut Children's Medical Center

Drop off a new, unwrapped toy at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill, Nov. 9 - Dec. 15

ROCKY HILL, CT (November 7, 2017) – The CT Lottery is pleased to announce its 4th Annual “Do a ‘Lotto’ Good, Give a Toy!” holiday toy drive starting November 9th through December 15th to raise Responsible Gambling awareness that lottery tickets are not suitable gifts for children. Give a child a toy, not a ticket.

For the 4th year in a row, the CT Lottery has partnered with Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in these efforts. On average, 150 children are treated daily in the center's emergency department alone—each child receives a toy. Toys are also given to every child who has a procedure, celebrates a birthday or special event; they are used in multiple playrooms throughout the hospital, and utilized as a distraction from pain before shots, tests and surgeries. In total, the yearly need for donated toys is great—73,000—ranging from a simple deck of cards or silly bands, to the more substantial, board games and video games.

We are excited to be hosting and promoting our 4th annual ‘Give a Child a Toy, not a Ticket’ responsible gambling holiday campaign,” said Chelsea Turner, Interim CT Lottery President and CEO. “In partnership with iHeart Media, we will be educating adults that lottery tickets are not suitable gifts for kids.  Instead, we are encouraging adults to consider donating a toy to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.  We hope these toys help spread some smiles to kids who are in the hospital during the holidays, and other times throughout the year.”

International Centre for Sport Security CEO to Co-Chair Sports Betting USA

LONDON, UK (November 7, 2017) -- The sport industry dimension of the betting debate will be very much to the fore following confirmation that Emanuel Medeiros, founder and former CEO of the Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) and currently CEO at the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) Insight, has accepted an invitation to chair the opening day of the inaugural Sports Betting USA Conference, which is being held across 14-15 November, Convene, New York. He will lead the first day of the Clarion Gaming organised conference alongside Katie Simmonds, who is Director of Sports Governance and Financial Integrity at ICSS Europe.
