All Systems Go! Scientific Games' Advanced, Flexible Gaming System is Powering Danish Lottery

Company Executes Successful Technology Conversion in Denmark for Danske Spil's Retail, Web, Mobile and Future Sales Channels

logo

LAS VEGAS and ATLANTA (November 16, 2017) -- Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS) ("Scientific Games" or the "Company") today announced the successful launch of its most advanced, flexible, next-generation gaming system for Danske Spil (the "Lottery") in Denmark.

Scientific Games implemented the new gaming systems technology for the Danish Lottery after winning the competitively bid gaming systems contract from an incumbent supplier. The conversion from the Lottery's legacy system to the new system went live earlier this year, supporting Danske Spil's multi-channel environment which integrates sales across a network of 3,200-retailers, including 5,000 supermarket in-lane point-of-sales, as well as mobile and internet.

The systems conversion, which significantly advances the Lottery's retail, web and mobile channels, is an integral component of Danske Spil's business plan for the coming years. The new technology from Scientific Games positions the Lottery to respond quickly to changes in the marketplace and offers the Lottery flexibility to add future sales channels. Under the new contract, Scientific Games will provide 24-hour a day systems' operations from its fully redundant European centralized data centers.

Susanne Mørch Koch, Chief Executive Officer, Danske Spil, said, "We knew that we were looking for a flexible, channel-agnostic system for our Lottery. Our strategy for the lottery market is aggressive and progressive, and a new system is a core part of that strategy. We need our technology platforms to be scalable, so that we can ramp up or down and add hardware components that would not require replacing the entire system. This has been a must-have requirement for our new lottery solution."

Following the successful go-live, the system has been enhanced to launch the newest version of VikingLotto, a popular multi-jurisdictional draw game in the Nordic and Baltic regions of Europe which went live earlier this year. Scientific Games also supplies instant games to Danske Spil.

Pat McHugh, Scientific Games' Senior Vice President, Global Lottery Systems, said, "Danske Spil is a leading innovator in the European lottery market. There is a great deal of excitement and collaboration surrounding this conversion, as we expand our support to welcome Danske Spil to the Scientific Games' Lottery Systems family. Scientific Games has aligned with Danske Spil's business goals to deliver our most advanced, open architecture system in Denmark with flexible, scalable technology that will support the Lottery's growth."

Scientific Games supplies lottery draw, instant, internet, mobile, video lottery and sports wagering technology systems worldwide and is the leading lottery systems provider in Europe.

A Revolutionary Way to Play Lottery - The Health Lottery QuickWin

LONDON, U.K. (November 6, 2017) -- The days of losing a lottery ticket or forgetting to check those all-important numbers could be limited thanks to a new game in the lottery market. The Health Lottery QuickWin is the first game of its kind to offer a lottery draw every 3 minutes - day or night.

Each draw has a guaranteed jackpot of £25,000, which means there is an astonishing £12 million available in jackpots every day.

Players purchase a £1 ticket entering them into the next available draw before waiting only a matter of minutes to see if they are a lucky winner. The draw is hosted in a virtual environment where the balls are drawn from a ball machine in an incredibly life-like scenario.

The online game, hosted by former Health Lottery draw show host Anna Johnson, takes a similar structure to The Health Lottery's main game which takes place five days a week from Tuesday to Saturday. Players must select five numbers between 1 and 50, or can opt for a Quick-Pick which selects numbers at random.

What sets QuickWin aside from the main Health Lottery game however is the lower prize tier, which means that every one in six is a winner. This ranges from a free ticket for players who match just the bonus ball or a £1.50 prize for those who match both one ball plus the bonus ball, up to the guaranteed jackpot of £25,000.

Under The Health Lottery scheme, 20p from every £1 QuickWin ticket sold will raise money for health related good causes across Great Britain. The money raised makes a real difference to the lives of thousands of people every day. The Health Lottery has already raised over £93million for good causes with continued support in the games figure will continue to grow.

Idaho Lottery to Debut Patriotic-themed Draw Game Lotto America on Sunday

BOISE, Idaho (November 9, 2017) -- The Idaho Lottery will introduce a new multi-million dollar jackpot game with a patriotic flare over the course of this coming Veteran’s Day Weekend. Beginning on Sunday morning, November 12, 2017, sales for the new $1 Lotto America game will commence at all Idaho Lottery retail locations. The first announced jackpot on Lotto America is estimated at $15 million.

GLI

We´re excited to bring our new Draw Game, Lotto America, with multi-million dollar jackpots to Idaho,” said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. “Lotto America fits perfectly into our product line-up between our Idaho-only jackpot draw games Weekly Grand and Idaho Cash and the big jackpot games like Powerball and Mega Millions.  And best of all, for just a buck you can play for multi-million dollar prizes.”

The regular starting jackpot for Lotto America is intended to be $2 million. However, since there was no jackpot winner on the recently retired multi-state lottery game Hot Lotto, the initial starting jackpot for Lotto America has been enhanced with the transferred funds and will be a $15 million annuity.

Tickets for Lotto America are $1 each. For an additional $1 per play, Lotto America has a multiplier feature - All Star Bonus - that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by two to five times. In the game, players select and try to match five numbers from 1 to 52 and one Lotto America Star Ball numbered from 1 to 10. Players may also select the quick pick option and they may elect to play for as many as ten draws in advance.

The overall odds of winning any prize on Lotto America are about 1 in 9.63, giving players better chances to win.

Idaho will join twelve other jurisdictions when Lotto America launches this coming Sunday. Draws for the game occur on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 9:00 PM Mountain Time. The first draw will be on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

Pollard Banknote Announce 3rd Quarter Financial Results

WINNIPEG, Canada (November 8, 2017) -- Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) ("Pollard") today released its financial results for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2017, continuing the strong net income and Adjusted EBITDA trends.

"Our third quarter results continue to reflect the investments we have made in our business over the last few years with significantly higher production volumes and increased levels of revenue, net income and Adjusted EBITDA in comparison to last year," commented Co-Chief Executive Officer John Pollard.

"Our mix of work included high levels of specialty work comprising large amounts of our Scratch FX® product and our Playbooks®, both of which generate premium pricing due to the higher return generated for our lottery customers."

"Our third quarter results, while lower than the second quarter, are consistent with our expectations and continue our strong positive trends in all key financial metrics.  As previously reported, a number of positive factors impacted our second quarter results including sales volumes boosted by the significant amount of product in transit at the end of the first quarter."

"A portion of our third quarter production was not recognized as revenue due to the timing of certain shipments and an increase in work in process relating to some of our more complex proprietary products.  This incremental production value was not as significant as the value of the goods in transit at the end of the first quarter, however we do anticipate the revenue and margin associated with this work will be recognized in the fourth quarter."

"Our cash flow was high during the quarter mirroring the strong income level combined with low levels of capital expenditures.  Consistent with the increase in the level of production in transit, a significant amount of our cash flow was invested in higher amounts of working capital, which we anticipate will reverse in the coming quarters.  Our overall levels of debt increased during the quarter due to the purchase of INNOVA Gaming Group Inc., however our leverage ratio remains among the lowest levels we have enjoyed in many years, leaving considerable capital capacity for future investments."

"We believe Pollard has established itself as one of the thought leaders in the lottery industry," commented Doug Pollard, Co-Chief Executive Officer, "And this status allows us to expand our relationships with our lottery customers.  In addition to growing our core instant ticket business, our ancillary products such as digital products including game apps, our PlayOn® loyalty program and other marketing support programs continue to expand and provide important tools to support lottery growth."

"During the quarter we completed the 100% acquisition of INNOVA Gaming Group Inc. including the Diamond Game operating business.  The integration of Diamond Game and Pollard is proceeding well and we look forward to leveraging our lottery and charitable gaming relationships to help grow this business.  The recent signing of a new long term contract with the Missouri Lottery is evidence of the success and growing demand for the Diamond Game product line.  Over the short term we expect to see savings from the elimination of INNOVA's public company expenses and reduced corporate overhead, while long term we are confident the unique product offering of our LT-3 and new NextPlay gaming devices will provide an important revenue source for our lottery and charitable gaming customers."

"2017 has been a very good year for Pollard and we continue to be very excited about the future," concluded John Pollard.  "Our market dynamics remain very positive with continued strong consumer demand.  Our volume levels have increased significantly from 2016 and the expansion of our product offerings with the addition of Diamond Game has opened up new opportunities for our growth.  The remainder of 2017 and 2018 should be a very exciting time for Pollard from both an organic growth perspective as well as greater opportunities to expand our business through additional acquisitions."

Svenska Spel Launch New Sports Game, Oddset Challenge

SWEDEN (November 10, 2017) -- Svenska Spel launches Oddset Challenge, a brand new sporting pool game, thus strengthening its unique sports game range. Last year, a new sports game was launched, Powerplay was in 2009. The Odds Challenge is a daily game that offers six game items on the hottest sports events. The win comes out to all right and the minimum bet is 5 kronor. The Premiership is Monday, November 13th and includes games at the soccer country match Italy-Sweden as well as matches from NHL. The first coupon will open on Friday, November 10th. The first 13 rounds are spiced each with 200,000 kronor.

Schafer Systems

Svenska Spel has a unique sporting game offering with pool games. The 80-year-old ironing tip is considered today to be one of the world's absolute best games. Ten years ago, we launched the Top Tips, which quickly became a success among our footballers. Eight years ago, we launched the Odds Powerplay, which became the equivalent of hockey lover. Now we launch Oddset Challenge, which offers daily games on six items from the hottest sports events,” says Joakim Thor Product Manager Sports Games at Svenska Spel.

"What distinguishes Oddset Challenge against other pool games is that the coupon can contain several different game types and, secondly, different sports events. For example, among the six objects, game type 1X2 can be mixed with Number of Goals, Head-2-Head and Over / Under. We come with this variety offering attractive and fun game rounds connected to the hottest sporting events. We can also have more than one coupon per day and can offer more than six game items per coupon, depending on the game types the coupon contains.

The thirteen first rounds are spiced each with 200,000 kronor. We do this to ensure a good dividend while building the pool, which will strengthen the game over time. The dividend will vary from a few hundred items to up to approximately 50,000. It's more a game where players win more often rather than very high amounts. With a line of five crowns, several coupons a week and attractive combinations of game types and sports events, I think that Oddset Challenge quickly becomes a popular game and a nice addition to our game portfolio," concludes Joakim Thor.

That's how the Oddset Challenge works

The game is based on six game items, but can contain more, and different game types can be combined.

The racing bet is at least 5 kronor but can be played with the bet 10, 20, 30 or 50.

1 profit group, which is profit at all times.

The refund is 70 percent (as for the Top Tip and the Powerplay odds)

Both single rows and system games can be played

If no one is all right, a bowl will be rolled to the next round.

Average distribution over time per round is estimated at approximately SEK 2,500.

The first coupon contains three match events and a total of six game items. The coupon opens 10/11 and closes at 20:44 on 13/11.

Commission Lays Out Roadmap for Fairer and Safer Gambling

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. (November 14, 2017) -- The Gambling Commission has today unveiled a new strategy which will help shape a well-regulated gambling market that works for consumers.

The strategy – which will be of interest to consumers, gambling businesses and others - sets out the regulator’s focus and commitment in five priority areas:

Schafer Systems Inc.
  • protecting the interests of consumers  - for example, the Commission expects operators to intervene to make play safe and to protect consumers at risk. There will also be tougher and broader sanctions on operators (including lotteries) who fail to treat customers fairly and make gambling safe.
  • preventing harm to consumers and the public – for example, the Commission expects consumers to be provided with more information about gambling and its risks, and better controls to manage their gambling.
  • raising standards in the gambling market – for example, the Commission expects effective and independent arrangements to resolve consumer complaints and disputes.
  • optimising returns to good causes from lotteries – for example, the Commission will regulate in a way that delivers a healthy National Lottery for customers and good causes, and plan for the competition for a new licence to be awarded for 2023.
  • improving the way the Commission regulates – for example, the Commission will improve the way it taps into consumer and public issues to inform action; it will help industry comply but take precautionary action where necessary, and will give independent and well evidenced advice to government on gambling and its impact.

Gambling is a mainstream leisure activity with 63% of people having gambled in the last year, but the Commission needs to balance consumer choice and enjoyment against the risks and impact gambling can have for individuals and wider society.

The strategy builds on work the Commission has been doing to ensure consumers are protected and reveals the vision for further and faster progress in the five priority areas.

Gambling Commission Chair Bill Moyes said: “This is an ambitious strategy to deliver fairer and safer gambling over the next three years. We can only be successful in this by engaging with consumers and by working closely with all our regulatory partners and the industry.

In the same way that this strategy challenges the industry, we also challenge ourselves – as the regulator – to deliver effective, targeted and innovative regulation.

At the end of three years we expect to see an industry that strives continuously to raise their standards, treat customers fairly, and protect vulnerable people.”

Florida Lottery Reminds Players to Give and Play Responsibly This Holiday Season

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (November 15, 2017) -- This holiday season, the Florida Lottery is reminding players to remain cautious of Lottery-related scams and theft, while also supporting responsible play by preventing underage gambling.

As the holidays approach, the Lottery is encouraging players and retailers to remain vigilant of scams and to play responsibly,” said Secretary Jim Poppell. “We are committed to protecting the integrity of the Florida Lottery, and will continue to do all we can to prevent fraud and underage play.”

The Lottery works diligently with local, state and federal law enforcement throughout the year to protect our players, but scam attempts increase dramatically during the holidays. The Florida Lottery will never contact players to inform them that they have won a prize unless they have entered a promotional game or second chance drawing. Never answer an email, phone call, letter or social media message asking for personal or financial information to process your prize; or asking for your social security number or credit card information. To report a lottery scam, consumers should contact the Florida Lottery’s Division of Security at (850) 487-7730.

The Florida Lottery is committed to increasing awareness of underage gambling issues to consumers, retailers and other stakeholders. Our games are designed to be a fun, low-cost form of entertainment that can make a great stocking stuffer for players 18 or older. Lottery games are not child’s play, and it is imperative players remember to give responsibly this holiday season. The slot features a mystery wild in the base game which can be triggered randomly when the elephant within the King Tusk logo makes his call. During which, a herd of elephants will stampede onto the reels, turning a random symbol wild or a wild symbol into a vertical wild reel – unleashing the potential for gigantic wins!

Landing three King Tusk symbols will award 10 free spins and activate the opportunity for players to choose from three different free spin games: Dance, Stampede or Gone Wild.

Each spin in the Dance feature will add a wild onto the reels, with each wild sticking for five spins to increase the chances of winning big. During the Stampede feature elephants will charge across the game to randomly turn two reels wild, while the Gone Wild feature can turn all elephant symbols wild. All bonus features can retrigger 10 additional free spins to keep the adventure going!

With wins of up to 62,000.00 credits, players can stampede to huge rewards in King Tusk which launches to Microgaming and Quickfire operators on Wednesday 22 November. Watch the gameplay video here.

Combining classical good luck charms with a sparkling light show brought to life by vibrant graphics, this striking slot will have players’ pulses racing in a game that pays both ways!

At the heart of the game is the Lucky Links feature which adds stacks of linking symbols on the reels that lock into place. The re-spin feature is triggered when a cluster of Lucky Links symbols land on the reels. If additional Lucky Links symbols lock in place during the re-spin, players are awarded additional re-spins to increase the potential for even bigger wins.

During the feature, the power bar pulsates to build anticipation, while the music and synchronized lights intensify, creating an exhilarating environment as players build up to big rewards!

Lucky Links goes live with Microgaming and Quickfire operators on Wednesday 15 November. Check out the gameplay video here.

David Reynolds, Games Publisher at Microgaming, comments: “On top of our latest branded slot The Phantom of the Opera™, we’re releasing two more games this November, each bringing exciting new features and thrilling gameplay.

“Player choice is at the heart of King Tusk, a graphically rich slot inspired by the majestic creatures that roam the African plains. This game has a wide range of free spins variations for players to choose from, each with its own unique take on wilds to bring players amazing new ways to win!

“Delivering a ‘win both ways’ experience, Lucky Links is a striking game created by Just For The Win, the studio who brought players Goldwyn’s™ Fairies earlier this year. The game brings the casino environment to players, combining captivating visuals with stacked symbols, Linking Reels and re-spins that will ensure players are entertained throughout.”
