IGT and Florida Officials Cut Ribbon Operationalizing Instant Ticket Printing Press to Increase Company Footprint in the State

New TRESU Press Goes Live at IGT’s Lakeland, Florida Facility

LONDON, U.K. (February 20, 2018) -- International Game Technology PLC (“IGT”) (NYSE:IGT) has completed a $15 million expansion to accommodate a new, state-of-the-art instant ticket press at its facility in Lakeland, Florida. The addition of approximately 45,000 square feet allows space for a new instant ticket TRESU press, extra production area, a new shipping and receiving area, secure office space, and secured finish goods storage.

Since the facility first opened in 2009, employment has grown by 112%, representing $11.7 million in annual payroll wages. The expansion is expected to increase full-time employment by an additional 24% by the end of 2021.

This state-of-the-art facility is part of the economic engine for Lakeland,” said U.S. Congressman Dennis Ross. “This facility benefits both employees and local businesses alike. From construction jobs to expand the facility to IGT using a number of local vendors ensuring the plant is kept up-and-running, the local economy is benefiting from IGT’s investment in Florida, and the Lakeland community.

Today is about a strong partnership we’ve developed with the Lakeland Economic Development Council (LEDC),” said IGT COO, Lottery, Jay Gendron. “Working together with the LEDC, IGT has developed relationships with Lakeland businesses and contractors, and we’ve created several new jobs as part of our expansion project. The substantial investment we are making now is a true indication of IGT’s commitment to Lakeland in the years to come.

The new servo-controlled TRESU press is now operational and will increase IGT’s printing capacity by approximately 30%. The TRESU is the newest in the industry, incorporating the latest advancements in flexography technology, and complements IGT’s current servo-controlled Gallus press, which also utilizes flexography technology.

The new TRESU press is very important to our printing business and allows us to service our lottery customers in a greater capacity,” continued Mr. Gendron. “The TRESU will complement and expand our current production capabilities, scheduling flexibility, and capacity. In fact, the addition of this second press actually increases production capacity in the overall industry, something that has not been done in more than 13 years.

Commission Welcomes Tighter Gambling Advertising Standards

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. (February 14, 2018) -- The Gambling Commission has welcomed tightened advertising standards which focus on adverts appealing to problem gamblers and on free bets and bonuses.

The new standards, announced by the Committees of Advertising Practice (CAP) today and enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), will:

  • restrict ads that create an inappropriate sense of urgency like those including “Bet Now!” offers during live events
  • curb trivialisation of gambling (eg encouraging repetitive play)
  • prevent approaches that give an irresponsible perception of the risk or control (eg “Risk Free Deposit Bonus”)
  • provide greater detail on problem gambling behaviours and associated behaviours indicators that should not be portrayed, even indirectly
  • prevent undue emphasis on money-motives for gambling
  • provide more detail on vulnerable groups like problem gamblers that marketers need to work to protect.

Further clarification surrounding terms and conditions for free bets and bonus offers has also been published. CAP has outlined that significant conditions must always be prominently displayed, with other terms and conditions being at most only one click away.

This complements a joint programme of work with the Gambling Commission and Competition and Markets Authority to ensure terms and conditions for promotions are fair and transparent for consumers.

Ian Angus, Gambling Commission Programme Director, said: “The new advertising standards set clear expectations for the gambling industry. Gambling firms must not advertise in a way that could encourage problem gambling behaviour. Consumers must be able to make informed choices about how and when they gamble and not feel pressured into making decisions that could cause them harm.

We expect gambling businesses to review the new guidance now and adjust any marketing and advertising accordingly. We support any enforcement activity by the ASA against operators who do not comply, and will not hesitate to take our own action against those who do not take their responsibilities seriously.

The Gambling Commission has today fined an online gambling operator for repeatedly misleading consumers with adverts relating to free bonuses.

CAP’s new standards will come into effect on 2 April 2018.

Arizona Lottery Launches Fast Play, A New Category of Instant Games Fast Play Combines the Ease of Jackpot Games with the Instant Gratification of Scratchers® Tickets

PHOENIX, Arizona (Feb. 20, 2018) – Arizona Lottery players now have an additional way to win thanks to a new category of games called Fast Play. Players won’t have to decide between purchasing a jackpot game or a Scratchers® ticket because Fast Play games print like a draw game and play like a Scratchers ticket.

Fast Play offers several games at varying price points, play styles and prize structures. This brand new category of game couples the simplicity of playing draw games with the instant gratification of Scratchers tickets.

This instant experience allows our players to enjoy their two favorite game categories in one ticket,” said Executive Director of the Arizona Lottery Gregg Edgar. “We continuously look for innovative ways to elevate our players’ experience and we believe Fast Play will be a rewarding addition. We look forward to working directly with our players and retailers to welcome this new instant way to play.”

Fast Play features four games for players to choose from: Piggy Bank Bucks, Crazy 8s, Jackpot Party® Progressive and Cherry Twist Progressive. Along with high odds of winning, these tickets offer a combined prize pool of more than $12 million.

Similar to Scratchers tickets, the Fast Play games generate play symbols to determine if a ticket is an instant winner of one of more prizes. Additionally, players have the opportunity to win a progressive jackpot prize when they play Jackpot Party® Progressive and Cherry Twist Progressive. If the jackpot is not won, the games’ progressive jackpots increase each time a ticket is sold. When a lucky player hits the jackpot, the jackpot resets for that game.

By offering an additional state game, the Arizona Lottery has an opportunity to further increase sales, which will create a significant impact on vital programs that serve Arizonans across the entire state,” said Edgar.

The Arizona Lottery will be hosting Fast Play launch events on Friday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two of our Arizona Lottery locations. The first 500 people to attend the Phoenix office at 4740 E. University Drive Phoenix, AZ 85034 and the first 200 people to attend the event at the Tucson office at 2900 E. Broadway Blvd, Suite 190, Tucson, AZ 85716 will get a free Fast Play ticket! Additionally, players will have the chance to play the new family of instant games, win cash prizes, and interact with special guests like the Cardinals’ Big Red and the Diamondbacks’ Baxter and more.

Fast Play is now available for purchase at the counter at all Arizona Lottery retailers. For more information on Fast Play, visit

Swedish Gambling Authority is Making Preparations for a Transition to a Licensed Market

SWEDEN (February 19, 2018) -- Lotteriinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Authority, is in the midst of a very busy period as we make preparations to start receiving applications for licences from 1 July 2018. I would like to take this opportunity to explain what we are doing in order to create some clarity about the next steps in this process. Our aim is to be as transparent as possible and provide regular information about new details and conditions. Meanwhile, as a public authority we are dependent on decisions made by Sweden’s government and parliament. Nothing will be concluded before everything is concluded!

Skilrock Technologies

There is a clear division of responsibility between parliament, government and public authority. At present the Council on Legislation is doing its work. After that we will wait for the government bill and the regulations that will complement the law. This will give us more detailed guidance about the proposed legislation.

The Swedish Gambling Authority’s regulations are thus dependent on what will be written in the new law and in the government’s regulations. The goal is that licence applications can be sent to the Swedish Gambling Authority from 1 July 2018 and that the law will come into force on 1 January 2019.

During 2017 we devoted resources to making preparations ahead of the transition to a new licensed market. We were also asked to make proposals to the commission of inquiry on gambling licences regarding both technical and general regulations. Revised versions of these regulations were distributed for referral in the autumn of 2017.

I would like to thank all members of the gambling community who made constructive comments concerning our proposed regulations. We hope to distribute new versions of these regulations, and additional new regulations, for referral in the middle of March 2018.

Provided that the government and parliament make the necessary decisions, we will handle significant regulatory changes to a large and growing industry.

The Swedish Gambling Authority will, for example, need to increase its staff by around 50%, change official working processes and invest in new IT systems. All of this must be accomplished over a very short period. The timetable is tight, both for us as a public authority and for the operators in the gambling industry.

Classified Advertisement
G2E Asia 2018

Many operators who want to apply for a licence are already making preparations based on the government’s proposed bill.

The awarding of licences and the dates from which they will be valid will depend partly on the quality of the applications and when they are received by the Swedish Gambling Authority.

We will make a comprehensive assessment of both the application and of the company behind the application.

There will be no limit on the number of licences that can be allocated. Applicants must meet a number of requirements, which will be determined in part by government regulations and our own regulations.

Important requirements will include managing the gambling activity in a responsible way, providing a high level of customer protection, and maintaining good security. Another central principle in the reformed law will be the new duty of care.

Finally, I would like to say that the re-regulation is extensive and will take time. Not everything will be clear from day one. The entire reform will be evaluated over a three-year period.

The Swedish Gambling Authority – transforming into the new gaming authority – will do its best, given the conditions we face, to make reform successful.

Camilla Rosenberg

Key dates and events (dependent on fulfilment of proposed timetable):

  • March: government draft bill including regulations
  • Middle of March: the Swedish Gambling Authority is planning to distribute its regulations for referral
  • May: parliament is expected to vote on the proposed law
  • May: the Swedish Gambling Authority is planning to arrange information meetings about the application process
  • July 1, 2018: it should be possible to send applications for licences to The Swedish Gambling Authority
  • January 1, 2019: the new gambling law comes into effect

New York Lottery Releases Newest Commercial in Award-Winning “How Would You Spend It” Ad Series

NEW YORK (February 20, 2018) -- The New York Lottery’s original "How Would You Spend It?” advertising campaign created by McCann Worldgroup won rave reviews and an industry-best Batchy Award for original music at the 2017 Advertising Awards presented by the National Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL). Today, the Lottery unveiled its latest take on the much-talked-about campaign for the Lottery's CASH4LIFE game.

“Our latest sopt entitled, 'Small Town,' builds off of the original concept of showing how one New Yorker would spend his time if he won CASCH4LIFE’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life,” said New York Lottery Advertising Director Dana Idema.

Shot by legendary director Noam Murro, "Small Town" features actual miniature buildings and props to tell the story of how one lucky winner uses his newly afforded time to revisit an old childhood hobby.

Lightning Box Signs Unique Deal with Incredible Technologies to Cross License IP

SYDNEY, Australia (February 21, 2018) -- Specialist slots developer Lightning Box has signed a cross-licensing deal with American land-based supplier Incredible Technologies to add an exciting new feature to one of its most popular games.

Astro Cat, the Asian-themed, 5-reel, 1296 ways slot, has proven to be a major hit in U.S. land-based casinos, as well as attracting an army of fans after going online in Europe.

At G2E in Las Vegas last October, it was boosted by Incredible Technologies’ patented Sky Wheel® feature creating “Astro Cat Deluxe” and attracted further success on the casino floor.

Now with this new deal, Astro Cat Deluxe will be made available to Lightning Box’s clients in online real money gaming and social casino.

The exciting feature is triggered when 5 Sky Wheel symbols appear within the ReelFecta reel, setting the giant wheel above them spinning. Players can then win a Jackpot, entry into the Astro Cat Bonus, or a credit prize. Any credit prize is accompanied by a secondary spin of a small inner wheel for the opportunity to win a credit multiplier up to 5x, or a respin of the giant Sky Wheel.

Peter Causley, Lightning Box’s Managing Director and Co-Founder, said the new collaboration would further solidify Lightning Box’s commitment to a true multi-channel offering, as they look to bring the best gaming ideas online from other verticals and geographical markets.

He added: “We’re really pleased to have teamed-up with Incredible Technologies for Astro Cat Deluxe, which is an exciting fusion of slot IP.

The original game has been a real hit across the board and the Deluxe version has shown some stellar early performance in the USA since its launch late last year. We’re confident that the new game will also deliver similar success for our online operating partners.”

Dan Schrementi, VP of Gaming Sales and Marketing at Incredible Technologies, said: “The original Astro Cat is a proven performer and a staple in our catalogue of games.  The addition of the extremely popular Sky Wheel feature puts Astro Cat Deluxe in a new spotlight and we’re excited to see it offered across land-based and online gaming channels.

Astro Cat, which had an exclusive online launch with Mr Green in October 2016, also uses Lightning Box’s patented Reelfecta super reel, giving players 16 chances to win on the middle reel, as well as a Mega Spin where all 16 positions are Wild.
