Svenska Spel New Main Sponsor of the Swedish Olympic Committee

VISBY, Sweden ((July 1, 2019) -- Svenska Spel becomes the new main sponsor of the Swedish Olympic Committee, SOK. Today, the parties sign a seven-year agreement worth over SEK 100 million.

The agreement will take effect on July 1 this year and extend until December 31, 2026 and is worth over SEK 100 million. The collaboration involves, among other things, a targeted investment in SOK's Top and Talent program and a special Svenska Spel Team. In the team, especially selected athletes from several different sports will be included.

As the country's largest sports sponsor, it feels exciting to start a collaboration with SOK and our Olympic athletes. MUSL Board and Powerball Product Group Officers Elected for FY20

URBANDALE, Iowa (July 1, 2019) -- The Board of Directors of the Multi-State Lottery Association elected Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery, to serve as Board President for Fiscal Year 2020. McIntyre started his term as Board President today. The position was previously held by May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery.

New York Lottery to Join Multi-State Lottery Association

URBANDALE, Iowa (June 28, 2019) -- The Board of Directors of the Multi-State Lottery Association has approved the New York Lottery’s request for membership. The transition for the New York Lottery to join MUSL is scheduled to begin June 30, 2019.

The Multi-State Lottery Association was built by jurisdictional lotteries working together,” said May Scheve Reardon, MUSL Board President and Missouri Lottery Executive Director. “We look forward to continuing that spirit of collaboration with the New York Lottery as we further our mission of helping member lotteries raise profits responsibly for good causes.

State Lottery Commission ‘Very Pleased’ with Record Breaking Performance

Jefferson City, Missouri (July 2, 2019) -- The Missouri State Lottery Commission held its quarterly meeting today in Jefferson City, where the five-member board commended the Lottery for achieving its highest performing year to date. Lottery sales topped $1.46 billion in FY19, resulting in a record-breaking $346.7 million in proceeds for public education.

Missouri Lottery Executive Director May Scheve Reardon reported that a full $323 million in Lottery proceeds have already been transferred to the education fund this fiscal year, and another $23.7 million from FY19 sales will be transferred in early July.

That’s incredible news,” noted Paul Kincaid, Commission chairman. “To see the smooth day-to-day operations of this group of 154 employees and realize that they not only achieved nearly a billion and a half dollars in sales, but also surpassed all goals and provided $346.7 million for education, is quite remarkable. I’m very pleased.

The Commission also received updates about upcoming Lottery games and promotions, as well as efforts to expand the number of Missouri Lottery retailers, including Walmart locations, while optimizing sales and building a recognition program for existing retailers.

The Commission congratulates the Lottery for its ongoing commitment to responsibly drive sales and maximize its profits for education,” Kincaid concluded. “This is a group of thoughtful, energetic leaders who know this industry and continually work to explore solutions that benefit all its stakeholders.

More Chances to Win for Life: Cash4Life Goes Daily

Top prize ticket sold in Stockbridge amid excitement

ATLANTA, Georgia (June 27, 2019) -- Georgia Lottery players have the chance to now win $1,000 a day for life, seven days a week. Starting July 1, the popular multistate game Cash4Life will be drawn daily at 9 p.m. EDT.

With the exception of its new draw schedule, there will be no changes in how to play Cash4Life or the game’s chances of winning.

We are thrilled to announce Cash4Life becoming a daily draw game,” Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin said. “More chances to play mean more opportunities for Georgia Lottery players to win prizes and to invest in Georgia’s students. As if things weren’t exciting enough, one lucky ticket purchased in Stockbridge won the game’s $1,000 a day for life top prize in the June 24 drawing.

Winning numbers from the June 24 drawing were: 7-10-18-21-28 and the Cash Ball was 4. The ticket matched all five winning numbers and the Cash Ball number.

Chevron 138, located at 90 Highway 138 E., sold the ticket.

A winner has not come forward to claim the prize yet.

In Georgia, Cash4Life winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.

The lottery principle: Gambling oriented to the common good

The new role, which reports to the CEO, Damian Cope, will take effect from 1st July 2019 and will not be a member of the OPAP SA Board of Directors.

Mr. Christoforou is currently Chief Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Director and has been an employee of OPAP since August 2014.

He will continue with his extensive responsibilities within the company covering corporate communications, regulatory & compliance, corporate affairs and press office as well as OPAP’s extensive CSR activities, which support communities across Greece and Cyprus.

Norsk Tipping's Customers Now Receive Consumption Overview at Login

HAMAR, Norway (June 29, 2019) -- As of this week, Norsk Tipping's digital customers will get an overview of their consumption when they login.

The game accounts have been available to Norsk Tipping's customers for several years, but the customers themselves have had to visit it on the websites.

“Now we are going to actively show the customer net consumption in the last 7, 30 and 365 days. We believe this can lead to increased awareness of our own money use,” says Tanja Sveen, advisor for responsible gaming in Norsk Tipping.

Didn't know how much they lost

Active viewing of the gaming accounts is introduced, among other things as a result of experiences from Norsk Tipping's proactive conversations with customers who lose a lot of money.

When we ask the big losers to estimate how much they have lost in the past year, it is common for them to tip only half of the real loss. Many get an aha experience when they get to know the actual sum and want to make a change.

Sveen believes that the customers now get a better overview of the consumption, so that they themselves can take action when they see that more money goes out than they want.

The game accounts will initially be shown automatically each week, but customers can change their display frequency on a daily or monthly basis. In the view there is also a link to the game account page, where one can find a more detailed overview.

This is also under development and will come in an expanded and improved version over the next couple of months,” says Sveen.

The game account display is first introduced in digital channels, where all customers playing player medium to high risk games (casino, bingo, odds and live odds) will be shown the game accounts. In addition, all customers with yellow or red status in Norsk Tipping's risk assessment tool Playscan will get the same overview.

We work with solutions to ensure that customers who only play in physical channels also have access to the gaming accounts according to the same principle. We hope to have solutions in place towards the end of this year or early next year,” says Sveen.

Casino customers most vulnerable

During 2018, Norsk Tipping had a worrying growth in the number of red players, ie the number of players the analysis system Playscan identifies has the risk of having or developing gambling problems.

Growth comes mainly from customers who play casino games online. Showing the customers the game accounts is therefore particularly important for such high-risk games, where a game round only takes three seconds. One can play almost continuously, and it is often the case that many small gains camouflage a real loss,” says Sveen.

Third gambling responsibilities this year

In April, Norsk Tipping introduced a roof on how big prizes it is possible to play away, and in May, two-factor approval was introduced at the gaming terminals Multix and Belago. Now, Norsk Tipping's CEO Åsne Havnelid is pleased to have another new gaming responsibility in place.

The work on gaming responsibility is a continuous process, and we put a lot of resources into keeping a high pace of development. This latest measure will be important for many players and have a good preventive effect on gambling problems,” says Havnelid.

Kansas Lottery Launches Vending Machine Pilot Program Sites

TOPEKA, Kansas (June 26, 2019) -- The Kansas Lottery is launching four self-service vending machine pilot program sites at select retailers around Topeka.

In 2018, the Kansas legislature passed HB 2194 allowing the Kansas Lottery to sell traditional style lottery tickets through self-service vending machines.

The Kansas Lottery is excited to join the majority of other states offering the convenience of selling lottery products through self-service vending machines,” said Stephen Durrell, the Acting Executive Director of the Kansas Lottery.

The first pilot site, John's Food Center, was installed on Wednesday and already had its first customer. Malik El-amin of Topeka was the first Kansas Lottery player in the state to purchase a Kansas Lottery ticket using the vending machine. El-amin bought a Powerball ticket and even added the Power Play option.

"It was an exciting experience," El-amin said. "I like how simple it is you don't have to wait in line to buy a ticket. It was awesome."

The pilot program locations are:

  • Gage Center Bowl, 4200 SW Huntoon Street, Topeka.
  • John’s Food Center, 5812 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka.
  • Kansas Lottery Headquarters, 128 N. Kansas Ave, Topeka.
  • West Ridge Lanes, 1935 SW Westport Drive, Topeka.

 

The Kansas Lottery plans to roll out a total of 272 machines to select retailers across the state beginning in July 2019.

Up to $8 million of the net profit from the machines will go to mental health programs throughout the Sunflower state.

Gambling Commission 2018/19 Enforcement Report – Operator Failures Lead to Tough Action

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. (June 27,2019) -- Gambling businesses and those who lead them need to improve the support they offer consumers who are at risk of harm and do more to guard against money laundering, a new report by the Gambling Commission has revealed today.

The Commission’s ‘Raising Standards for Consumers Enforcement Report’ provides an overview of the enforcement work the regulator has undertaken over the past year and sets out future lessons for operators.

Over the last 12 months, the Commission has carried out more than 160 investigations.

Enforcement action has resulted in a variety of sanctions against operators and their senior management.

Operators have also paid £19.6m in penalty packages because they failed to follow Commission rules aimed at making gambling fairer, safer and free from crime.

The Gambling Commission’s chief executive Neil McArthur said: “I want gambling consumers in Britain to be able to enjoy the fairest and safest gambling in the world and I want gambling operators to work with us to put customer enjoyment and safety at the top of their corporate agenda.

As the report shows, we will be tough when we find operators bending the rules or failing to meet our expectations, but we also want to try and minimise the need for such action by providing advice, a programme of support material and compliance activity to help operators get things right in the first place.

Aristocrat Announces Appointment of New Leadership in Americas & Global Land Based CEO
