Lotto Baden-Württemberg Celebrate Lotto Partner Day in Heilbronn

Lottery Agencies: Reliable anchor and backbone of state lotteries

STUTTGART, Baden-Württemberg, Germany (June 30, 2019) -- On Sunday (June 30), 2,000 points of sale supervisors and employees visited the Lotto Baden-Württemberg trade fair in Heilbronn's Harmonie congress center. Managing Director Georg Wacker and Minister of the Interior Thomas Strobl welcomed distribution partners from all over the country. About two million Baden-Württemberg citizens play lotto regularly. A large part of it in one of the 3,150 sales outlets with their approximately 15,000 employees.

"They are and remain the most important pillar in the distribution of state lotteries and betting," said Lotto CEO Georg Wacker in his welcome address. Even in the age of smartphones and tablets, with over 840 million euros (2018), the points of sale generated around 85 percent of the gaming bets in the southwest.

Schafer Systems Inc.

"Together, we can take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitization, but at the same time expand our personal contact and local service for our customers," Wacker continues. The Lotto Partner Day presents a lot of news, products and services that complement the offer for reception centers. In the face of structural change and skill shortages, they face major challenges.

"In rural areas, the sale of lotto products is often a guarantee that small shops are still viable at all. The meeting today is a clear signal that we will continue to rely on the reception centers in the future," emphasized the lotto boss. Interior Minister Thomas Strobl emphasized: "The reception centers are intergenerationally popular and really important to ensure local supply in both rural and urban areas. With 15,000 Baden-Württemberg residents who work in a lottery collection center, they are undoubtedly also an important economic factor. And I can assure you that the state government is behind the preservation of the lottery monopoly - and thus behind the collection points. It also means resolutely combating illegal providers. We are committed to making that easier in the future. Because the State Toto-Lotto society stands for reliability and thanks to it flows every day about one million euros for the common good to the country. However, digitization does not stop at Toto-Lotto. So as a digitization minister, I can only encourage you to understand the digital transformation not just as a risk, but as an opportunity. "

Lotto into the future: Playing in the reception center is becoming more digital

The approximately 2,000 visitors from all regions of Baden-Wurttemberg found in Heilbronn a wide range of information. 45 stands provided interesting facts about Lotto & Co., special trade fair offers and direct contact possibilities for exchange. The increasing networking between the analog and the digital world was often the focus. Thus, for example, tickets can no longer be filled in the traditional way on paper, but digitally via touchscreen.

A similar principle is behind the new "ANNA" -App: With her tips can be prepared on the smartphone and then delivered to the collection point.

ilo-proFIT, the joint sales subsidiary of the lottery companies Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, presented itself and other partners.

Here, the focus was on tips, suggestions and additional earning potential for the reception centers. In Heilbronn, an established training and prevention partner of Lotto was present with the Evangelical Society of Stuttgart (eva). Likewise, the Association of Toto and Lotto reception centers in Baden-Württemberg presented itself. The Nuremberg-based LOTTO Academy also had a stand.

It offers job center managers and their employees product training courses, motivation courses and business-related seminars and is designed to qualify for change in the retail sector. The LOTTOAcademy also has bases in Baden-Württemberg.

Finale on the BUGA

All visitors to the Lotto Partner Day received tickets for the visit to the Federal Horticultural Show (BUGA) in the afternoon. Lotto Baden-Württemberg is the official partner of the BUGA, which is open until 6th October. The national company has taken over the sponsorship for the "Lotto Sportpunkt" on the grounds of the garden show.

The lottery principle: Gambling oriented to the common good

The principle of the state lottery companies in Germany is simply explained: 50 percent of the stakes are distributed as profits, about ten percent are operating costs and commissions for the collection points.

The remaining 40 percent go to the state in the form of a lottery tax (16.6 percent) and goodwill (23 percent). Lotto Baden-Württemberg achieved 2018 for the country around 382.7 million euros.

This total amount is 165.5 million Euro lottery tax and 217.2 million Euro special income. EUR 132.4 million of the special-purpose income is used by the state through the Betting Fund for Sport, Art and Culture, Historic Preservation and Social Projects in Baden-Württemberg.

Norsk Tipping's Customers Now Receive Consumption Overview at Login

HAMAR, Norway (June 29, 2019) -- As of this week, Norsk Tipping's digital customers will get an overview of their consumption when they login.

The game accounts have been available to Norsk Tipping's customers for several years, but the customers themselves have had to visit it on the websites.

“Now we are going to actively show the customer net consumption in the last 7, 30 and 365 days. We believe this can lead to increased awareness of our own money use,” says Tanja Sveen, advisor for responsible gaming in Norsk Tipping.

Didn't know how much they lost

Active viewing of the gaming accounts is introduced, among other things as a result of experiences from Norsk Tipping's proactive conversations with customers who lose a lot of money.

When we ask the big losers to estimate how much they have lost in the past year, it is common for them to tip only half of the real loss. Many get an aha experience when they get to know the actual sum and want to make a change.

Sveen believes that the customers now get a better overview of the consumption, so that they themselves can take action when they see that more money goes out than they want.

Appears every week

The game accounts will initially be shown automatically each week, but customers can change their display frequency on a daily or monthly basis. In the view there is also a link to the game account page, where one can find a more detailed overview.

This is also under development and will come in an expanded and improved version over the next couple of months,” says Sveen.

The game account display is first introduced in digital channels, where all customers playing player medium to high risk games (casino, bingo, odds and live odds) will be shown the game accounts. In addition, all customers with yellow or red status in Norsk Tipping's risk assessment tool Playscan will get the same overview.

We work with solutions to ensure that customers who only play in physical channels also have access to the gaming accounts according to the same principle. We hope to have solutions in place towards the end of this year or early next year,” says Sveen.

Casino customers most vulnerable

During 2018, Norsk Tipping had a worrying growth in the number of red players, ie the number of players the analysis system Playscan identifies has the risk of having or developing gambling problems.

Growth comes mainly from customers who play casino games online. Showing the customers the game accounts is therefore particularly important for such high-risk games, where a game round only takes three seconds. One can play almost continuously, and it is often the case that many small gains camouflage a real loss,” says Sveen.

Third gambling responsibilities this year

In April, Norsk Tipping introduced a roof on how big prizes it is possible to play away, and in May, two-factor approval was introduced at the gaming terminals Multix and Belago. Now, Norsk Tipping's CEO Åsne Havnelid is pleased to have another new gaming responsibility in place.

The work on gaming responsibility is a continuous process, and we put a lot of resources into keeping a high pace of development. This latest measure will be important for many players and have a good preventive effect on gambling problems,” says Havnelid.

Transparency is an important principle for Norsk Tipping's relationship with the company's customers. Games should be a nice addition to everyday life - and how much money you use to withstand the light of day,” she adds.

Kansas Lottery Launches Vending Machine Pilot Program Sites

TOPEKA, Kansas (June 26, 2019) -- The Kansas Lottery is launching four self-service vending machine pilot program sites at select retailers around Topeka.

In 2018, the Kansas legislature passed HB 2194 allowing the Kansas Lottery to sell traditional style lottery tickets through self-service vending machines.

The Kansas Lottery is excited to join the majority of other states offering the convenience of selling lottery products through self-service vending machines,” said Stephen Durrell, the Acting Executive Director of the Kansas Lottery.

We look forward to the opportunity of increasing our sales and our transfer to the state. We feel the machines will also provide easier access for our players to find their favorite games.

The first pilot site, John's Food Center, was installed on Wednesday and already had its first customer. Malik El-amin of Topeka was the first Kansas Lottery player in the state to purchase a Kansas Lottery ticket using the vending machine. El-amin bought a Powerball ticket and even added the Power Play option.

"It was an exciting experience," El-amin said. "I like how simple it is you don't have to wait in line to buy a ticket. It was awesome."

The pilot program locations are:

  • Gage Center Bowl, 4200 SW Huntoon Street, Topeka.
  • John’s Food Center, 5812 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka.
  • Kansas Lottery Headquarters, 128 N. Kansas Ave, Topeka.
  • West Ridge Lanes, 1935 SW Westport Drive, Topeka.

The Kansas Lottery plans to roll out a total of 272 machines to select retailers across the state beginning in July 2019.

Up to $8 million of the net profit from the machines will go to mental health programs throughout the Sunflower state.

Gambling Commission 2018/19 Enforcement Report – Operator Failures Lead to Tough Action

Classified Advertisement

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. (June 27,2019) -- Gambling businesses and those who lead them need to improve the support they offer consumers who are at risk of harm and do more to guard against money laundering, a new report by the Gambling Commission has revealed today.

The Commission’s ‘Raising Standards for Consumers Enforcement Report’ provides an overview of the enforcement work the regulator has undertaken over the past year and sets out future lessons for operators.

Over the last 12 months, the Commission has carried out more than 160 investigations.

Enforcement action has resulted in a variety of sanctions against operators and their senior management.

Operators have also paid £19.6m in penalty packages because they failed to follow Commission rules aimed at making gambling fairer, safer and free from crime.

The Gambling Commission’s chief executive Neil McArthur said: “I want gambling consumers in Britain to be able to enjoy the fairest and safest gambling in the world and I want gambling operators to work with us to put customer enjoyment and safety at the top of their corporate agenda.

As the report shows, we will be tough when we find operators bending the rules or failing to meet our expectations, but we also want to try and minimise the need for such action by providing advice, a programme of support material and compliance activity to help operators get things right in the first place.

GLI 300x250

President/CEO James Maida said, “We're obsessed with customer service and go out of our way for every regulator, every supplier, and every operator. We walk through walls to get them what they need. That is something Paul Magno and I have been passionate about since we founded the company in 1989, and it’s something we are equally passionate about to this day.

Maida recently received the EY Entrepreneur of The Year® 2019 New Jersey Award.

With a sharp focus on customer service, the company has experienced strong growth. GLI began with two employees, one location, and three customers. Today, the company has 1,250 employees, 24 locations, and hundreds of customers spanning the gaming industry.

GLI also has a 30-year history of giving back. The most recent example was a canned food sculpture competition, where employees created sculptures in several of the company’s labs and lobbies, then delivered food and cash donations to various food banks in GLI host communities. Beneficiaries included:

  • Chubby Chums Children’s Home in Primrose, S. Africa
  • Community Table Arvada Food Bank in Arvada, Colo.
  • Fulfill Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, N.J.
  • The Haarlem, Netherlands Foodbank
  • Three Square Food Bank of Las Vegas, Nev.

Separately, GLI gave a $30,000 pledge to Preferred Behavioral Health Group in Lakewood, N.J.

GLI Senior Vice President and co-founder Paul Magno said, “When we started GLI, cassette tapes and the Sony Walkman were the latest technologies. Since then, innovators have leaped forward in the general entertainment industry and the gaming industry. While none of us knows where technology will take us, at GLI, we do know that whatever happens next in the gaming industry’s future is up to our creative-minded customers, and we will be there to help them, just like we have for the last 30 years.
