Proposed Amendments to the Regulations on Gambling on Ships

Hearing note – proposal for amendments to the regulations on gambling on ships. The deadline for hearings is 22 May 2020.

FØRDE, Norway — In a letter from the Ministry of Culture on December 19, 2019, the Lottery Authority was asked to prepare a draft hearing note, as well as a proposal for amendments to the regulations on gambling on ships.

The letter of assignment states that the following proposals for amendments to the current regulations on lottery operations on board Norwegian ships in the route between Norwegian and foreign Haman, shall be on the right ring:

  • That one removes the delimited wording that only card games and roulette are legal table games, and opens up that the Lottery Authority can also give a license to offer other types of table games on board ships.
  • That common limits are set for bets and winnings for all types of table games. Max bet settles to kr. 600, and maximum gain settles to NOK. 3000.
  • That one removes the regulation of multiples for different types of games.
  • That it becomes open for use of bank cards as a means of payment.
