WestLotto Supports Students from the University of Münster with Donation of €15,000 as Part of the Corona Emergency Fund for Students
MÜNSTER, Germany — Westdeutsche Lotterie GmbH & Co. OHG (WestLotto) followed the call for donations from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (WWU) and donated 15,000 euros to the Corona Emergency Fund for students in Münster.
The emergency fund supports students who have run into financial difficulties as a result of the corona pandemic, for example because they have lost their part-time job, because their parents can no longer support them, or because they have a pre-existing medical condition and are no longer able to work on the side.
From the donation funds in the fund, affected students receive a one-time subsistence allowance of up to 450 euros, which does not have to be repaid.
Andreas Kötter, spokesman for the management of WestLotto, said when the donation check was handed over to the head of the university funding department and coordinator of the project, Petra Bölling: “Münster is a student city. The young people shape our cityscape and our city culture. And it is precisely in these times that solidarity is more important than ever. This crisis must not lead to a new inequality of opportunities. It was therefore immediately clear to us that we would join the call for donations.”
The Corona Emergency Fund was established by the university management together with the WWU Münster Foundation, the University Society of Münster and the General Student Committee (AStA).
It is coordinated by the University Support Unit of the WWU.
