President Confirms Quico Tabar as the Administrator of the Dominican National Lottery and Creates Advisory Council

The Council must present a proposal to the president for the reform and modernization of the National Lottery

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (August 30, 2021) — President Luis Abinader issued Decree 533-21 that confirms Teófilo José Abrahán Leo Tabar Manzur as administrator of the National Lottery to continue his work on an honorary basis.

Through the same decree, a Consultative Council was also created, whose functions will be honorary, in accordance with the law.

This Advisory Council will provide advice and support to the authorities of the National Lottery, in the design of relevant public policies for the improvement of their internal procedures and the provision of an efficient and timely public service.

This Council will be made up of the Monsignors Francisco Ozoria and Jesús Castro, as well as the historian and historian economist Bernardo Vega.

Also on the Board of Directors are Frank Valdez Mena, Manuel Mora Serrano, Rafael Acevedo, Efraín Castillo, Bienvenido Brito, Juan Batlle and Federico Lalane.

In article 3 of provision 533-21 the Advisory Council is instructed to present to the Presidency of the Republic a proposal for the reform and modernization of the National Lottery, within a period of 90 days from the issuance of this decree.

Similarly, article 4 of this decree says that the Ministry of Finance is instructed to present a proposed agreement with the National Federation of Lottery Banks (Fenabanca) “and any other beneficiary of the draws currently carried out by the National Lottery for private banking, in which a definitive solution is established regarding their transmission”.
