Danske Spil Upgrades After Good Half-Year Accounts

BRØNDBY, Denmark (September 2, 2021) — Danske Spil’s half-yearly accounts have been satisfactory, even though the state tax has increased and Covid-19 still affects the result.

In the first half of 2021, Danske Spil achieved a total BSI (gross gaming revenue) of DKK 2,337.3 million. and a profit of DKK 799.7 million. DKK after-tax per. June 30, 2021.

This is slightly better than the first half of 2020, when BSI landed at DKK 2,300.9 million. and the profit after tax of DKK 794.4 million. kr.

“It must be said to be satisfactory in a six-month period, where Safe Games has full effect in physical stores, where Covid-19 has played a major role, and where Danske Spil has paid DKK 57.4 million more in gaming fees than in the same period in 2020,” says Peter Christensen, chairman of the board of Danske Spil.

The gaming fee increased with effect from 1 January 2021 by 8 percentage points from 20 to 28 per cent, but the additional gaming fee has been partially offset by an increase in BSI in Danske Licens Spil and Danske Lotteri Spil of DKK 38.1 million, respectively. DKK and 46.7 mill. kr.

“Compared to the first half of 2020, it has been a more common sports half-year, which has provided more opportunities for sports betting. In addition, the lotteries have benefited from several large prize pools, especially for Lotto, but Quick has also contributed to a higher BSI,” says CEO Nikolas Lyhne-Knudsen.

Among other things, more than 38,000 new customers were recruited at Danske Licens Spil as a result of the European Championships in football, and Oddset’s app channel, in particular, has been popular. It has accounted for over 40 per cent of revenue.

In addition, Danske Lotteri Spil has seen an increase in the number of PLUS subscriptions of just over 10,000 since the turn of the year.

The good first half of the year translates into expectations for the overall result after tax for 2021, which was DKK 1.3-1.4 billion. DKK in the report for the first quarter of 2021. That expectation is adjusted upwards by DKK 0.1 billion. DKK to 1.4-1.5 billion. kr.
