Kentucky Lottery Sales Remain Strong

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (May 13, 2022) — In today’s meeting of the Kentucky Lottery Corporation’s board of directors, it was announced that sales continue to hold onto their record-breaking pace.

For the first 10 months of FY22 (July 2021 through April 2022), overall sales have totaled $1.395 billion. That number is $91.6 million (7.0%) more than last year and $79.3 million (6.0%) more than budgeted.

Overall sales of Scratch-off tickets are up 8.1% ($60.5 million) from budget, while retail draw game sales are down 1.8% ($7.2 million) from budget. iLottery sales continue to perform well, up from $26.0 million (14.8%) from budget.

“We knew it was going to be difficult to compete with numbers posted last year during the pandemic. Most of our retailers were then considered essential and could remain open when other entertainment businesses were closed,” said Kentucky Lottery President and CEO Mary Harville. “When these businesses reopened, our players remained engaged and we are still on track though to produce more revenues for the Commonwealth in FY22 than we did in FY21, which is an important part of maintaining our commitment to Kentucky students as we help them pay for college.”

The board also took action to approve rules and regulations for four new Scratch-off tickets, and either new or amended rules and regulations for four Instant Play games.

The next meeting of the KLC’s board of directors will be Friday, June 17, 2022. The meeting will begin at 10:00 AM EST, and will be held at the KLC headquarters at 1011 West Main Street in Louisville. Meetings of the audit and procurement committees will begin on that same date at 9:00 AM EST.
