ZEAL Receives Permission to Broker Lotteries in Germany Until 2029
HAMBURG, Germany (May 23, 2022) — ZEAL Network SE has received the connection permit for the brokerage of lotteries in Germany for its subsidiary LOTTO24 AG. The responsible gaming supervisory authority informed LOTTO24 today that the company may also broker lottery products nationwide beyond June 30, 2022 in accordance with the new State Treaty on Gaming (GlüStV). The permit is valid for seven years and ends on June 30, 2029.
The permit is the first permit under the new State Treaty on Gaming, which has been in effect since July 1, 2021. The previous license of LOTTO24 AG of July 26, 2017 was initially extended until June 30, 2022 as part of a transitional regulation when the new GlüStV came into force.
“We are pleased about the trust of the federal states”, explained Dr. Helmut Becker, CEO of ZEAL. “The term of the permit of seven years underlines the administrative reliability of the company, which has already been proven for ten years.”
The newly granted permit is the second subsequent permit – after 2012 and 2017. The separate advertising permit required under the earlier State Treaty on Gaming is no longer applicable.
The responsible gambling supervisory authority is the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sport. On January 1, 2023, responsibility will change to the new Joint Gaming Authority of the States (GGL) in Halle (Saale).
