Coljuegos Intensifies Actions Against Illegality Throughout the Colombian territory.
BOGOTA, Colombia (June 9, 2022) — Colombian Gaming Regulator Coljuegos, in coordination with the National Police, carried out control actions on commercial establishments in the departments of Risaralda and Quindío. The operations allowed the seizure of 159 elements that operated illegally and that directly affected the collections for the health system of these regions.
Verification actions were carried out in the municipalities of Pereira, Dosquebradas, Armenia and Montenegro, achieving the withdrawal of 55 electronic slot machines, 4 sports betting modules and 100 bingo chairs. The illegal elements withdrawn from the market represent for the departments (Risaralda and Quindío) about 2,654 million pesos that have not been received for exploitation rights and whose destination is the health of Colombians.
As a result of the administrative investigations that Coljuegos will carry out against those involved in these illegal operations, fines in the order of 4,800 million pesos will be imposed on those who are responsible for the illegal operations detected.
The foregoing, clarifies the entity, in accordance with the provisions of article 20 of Law 1393 of 2010, where it is stated that, for each electronic slot machine found in the establishment, a fine of 100 current legal monthly minimum wages is imposed. (SMMLV). Likewise, it adds that, for games of luck and chance, other than localized ones, such as games operated over the Internet, whose operation is carried out directly or by concession contract, the penalty will be three hundred (300) current legal monthly minimum wages. , for each establishment, point of sale, shop or vendor.
In addition to the economic sanctions referred to, the Law establishes the inability to operate games of luck and chance for (5) five years, the destruction of the elements of games of luck and chance on which the precautionary measure of withdrawal was adopted, and a penalty of six (6) to eight (8) years in prison, in accordance with the provisions of article 312 of the Penal Code.
This operation is part of the strategy to fight against illegality carried out by the entity throughout the Colombian territory and whose fundamental purpose is to guarantee that the games of chance industry contribute a greater level of resources to the health of Colombians.
