Florida Lottery Celebrates End of Fiscal Year with New Education Milestone

July 8, 2022 | Financial

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (July 7, 2022) – Today, the Florida Lottery (Lottery) announces its 11th consecutive record-breaking year with an estimated $9.32 billion in annual sales for the Fiscal Year 2021-22. As a result, the Lottery anticipates more than $2.3 billion in contributions to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF), shattering all previous fiscal year transfer records. This brings the Lottery’s life-to-date education contributions to more than $42 billion over the past 34 years.

“I am incredibly proud of the Lottery’s success last fiscal year, which led to reaching our newest education milestone of $42 billion in contributions to students and schools in Florida,” said Lottery Secretary John F. Davis. “This latest accomplishment comes just five short months after reaching the $41 billion mark, but the Lottery’s mission to enhance education goes far beyond the monthly transfers to the EETF. We believe education is key to changing the trajectory of students’ lives and the Lottery will continue to strive to build brighter futures for all Florida students.”

The benefits of education dollars generated by the Lottery flow from community to community—from the Panhandle to the Keys. Since 1988, the Lottery has established itself as a committed and dependable funding source for public education, contributing more than $1 billion annually for the past 20 consecutive years while remaining one of the most efficiently operated Lotteries in the country.
