Cibelae, in the Agenda of Activities of the WLA
Buenos Aires, Argentina (June 22, 2023) — In the agenda of activities of the World Lottery Association (WLA) two events stand out in which the Ibero-American Corporation of State Lotteries and Bets (Cibelae) will participate.
The first of these is the Sports Integrity Seminar: “The role of lotteries in supporting the sports movement in preventing the manipulation of competitions” that will take place on June 27 and 28 at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland. . This event, organized by the United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS) and the WLA, will analyze -based on specific cases- the role that lotteries and National Olympic Committees can play in safeguarding the integrity of sports. The respective responsibilities and the measures adopted in suspected cases of competition manipulation will be discussed, as well as the way to interact with the main parties involved in the process to facilitate investigations and the possible conviction of the culprits.
Cibelae will participate by sending two scholarship holders: Karen Gómez Granados , from the Costa Rican Social Protection Board (JPS) ; and Emilio Ruiz from the Paraguayan National Gaming Commission (CONAJZAR) .
In addition, the seminar “Prevention of Money Laundering and Security: challenges and solutions” stands out , organized by Cibelae and the National Lottery of Mexico and the WLA, from July 11 to 14, 2023 in Mexico City.
This event, which will have the participation of experts in the prevention of money laundering, as well as in lottery security, will address the challenges and solutions to guarantee transparency in the gambling sector and prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. The topics to be discussed also include the WLA-SCS:2020 Security Control standard, developed by the WLA Security and Risk Management Committee.
