The Swedish Gaming Authority is Appealing the Verdict Regarding Zimpler AB

Strängnäs, Sweden (June 12, 2024) — On May 22, 2024, the administrative court in Linköping announced a judgment in the case between Zimpler AB and the Spelinspektionen, regarding the promotion of illegal gambling. The administrative court annulled the decision of the Swedish Gaming Authority.

The Gaming Authority does not share the administrative court’s assessment and is therefore appealing the verdict to the Court of Appeal in Jönköping. Contrary to the administrative law, the Spelinspektionen believes that Zimpler AB’s payment intermediary service means that the games in question are aimed at Sweden. By providing its payment service, Zimpler AB has promoted illegal gambling.
