Gaming Control Board Reports Revenue in June 2024

HARRISBURG, PA:   The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported today that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming, along with fantasy contests, during June 2024 was $471,983,421, an increase of 7.15% compared to revenue generated in June 2023.

Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the PGCB include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs). The PGCB has posted separate reports for these types of gaming on its website, https://gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov/.

Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $198,021,772* during June 2024.

Slot Machine Revenue

This June’s revenue from the play of retail slot machines was $200,973,707, a 0.29% decrease in revenue when compared to the $201,549,571 generated in June 2023.

The number of slot machines in operation in June 2024 was 24,731 compared to 25,348 at the casinos in June 2023.

Tax revenue from the play of slots machines in June 2024 was $101,645,245*.

 

Retail Table Games Revenue

Retail Table games revenue for June 2024 was $76,074,660, a decrease of 0.17% from June 2023 when revenue was $76,204,262.

Total tax revenue from table games play during June 2024 was $12,611,180*.

 

Internet Casino-Type Gaming (iGaming) Revenue

Casino games offered online generated monthly gross revenue totaling $160,631,380 during June 2024 compared to $135,436,692 in June 2023, an increase of 18.60%.

Tax revenue generated from internet gaming play during June 2024 was $71,067,973*.

 

Sports Wagering Revenue

June 2024, total sports wagering handle was $464,534,792 or 24.48% above the June 2023 total of $373,171,415.

At the same time, the taxable revenue figure for June 2024 was $29,893,121, or 29.63% higher when compared to June 2023, when taxable revenue was $23,060,076.

Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during June 2024 was $10,761,524*.

 

Video Gaming Terminals

Total adjusted revenue for June 2024 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,443,964, or 1.52% higher than June 2023 when revenue was $3,392,483. By the end of June 2024, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at 74 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at 69 establishments at this time last year.

Tax revenue collected from the play of VGTs in June 2024 was $1,790,861*.

 

Fantasy Contests

Fantasy Contests revenue was $966,589 in June 2024, an increase of 13.91% over June 2023, when revenue was $848,591.

Tax revenue collected from the play of Fantasy Contests in June 2024 was $144,988*.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.

 The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4).  A significant job generator in the Commonwealth, casinos and the other types of Board-regulated gaming generated $2.54 billion in tax revenue in Fiscal Year 2023/24.
