Football Leads the Way as Montana Sports Bettors Wager $1.4 Million

Baseball and Tennis Among Top 3 Sports for Montana Bettors

HELENA, Montana (September 9, 2024) – The Montana Lottery today released sports wagering data for the week ending September 7:

• Handle: $1,390,317
• Payout: $1,076,611
• Gross Gaming Revenue: $313,706
• Sales Agent Commissions: $41,710

The top three sports by percent of the total handle were:

• Football (58.9%)
• Baseball (30.6%)
• Tennis (3.5%)

The Montana Lottery’s sports wagering product, Sports Bet Montana, was launched after legislation passed in 2019 became law.

The Montana Lottery was created by a citizen’s referendum in 1986. Since then, it has paid over $953 million in prizes and returned approximately $342 million to the State of Montana and $97 million in sales agent commissions. To access an archive of previous winners, click here.
