We have been doing this since its inception in 1948, and during these years Norsk Tipping has contributed over NOK 162.1 billion (price adjusted) to good social purposes – to the delight of millions of Norwegians.

Norsk Tipping is a state corporation that is subject to the Ministry of Culture .

The business is regulated by the Act on Gambling etc. of August 28, 1992 No. 103 (Money Gambling Act) , with subsequent amendments. The Ministry of Culture gives permission for the introduction of new games and establishes the rules of the game. The Ministry also determines the percentage of the contribution amount that will go towards premiums.

The largest possible profit will never be the main purpose for Norsk Tipping or the state’s ownership of the company. The state’s expressed desire is that Norsk Tipping must first and foremost be a player that contributes to the development of the gaming market in a socially politically sound direction. There is also broad political agreement that money games should be regulated, to prevent negative gaming behavior. Good state governance through Norsk Tipping is also a guarantee that the profits from gambling will benefit society.
