About OPAP S.A.

OPAP is the leading gambling company in Greece and one of the most renowned in the industry worldwide. The company was founded in 1958 as the national lottery of the country and was listed on the Athens Stock Exchange in 2001, holding the exclusive license to use all lotteries (7 games), sports betting (4 games) and horse racing. It also operates exclusively the Lotteries and Scratches (Scratched) in Greece through a consortium (67%).

The initial public offering of securities (IPO) was followed by three more in the years 2002, 2003 and 2005, when the Greek State gradually reduced its participation in the Company’s share capital. From the 4th quarter of 2013, the company, through an international tender, was fully privatized, which gave the necessary impetus to ensure future growth and its competitiveness at the international level.

Our games are offered through the largest network of points of sale in Greece, our agencies, which exceed 4,000 and act as commercial agents paid for with a performance commission. In addition to the OPAP agency network, the availability of Scratches (Scratches) and Lotteries is further expanded through alternative 3,800 points of sale (kiosks, street vendors, etc.).

Operating licenses

The exclusive license for our games expires in 2030, for Scratch and the Lotteries in 2026 and for the Horse Racing in 2036. In addition, the exclusive operating license for 25,000 gaming machines (VLTs) in Greece expires in 2035. The company is also active in Cyprus, while it has expanded its activities via the internet.

Social contribution

OPAP is the most important social contribution factor in Greece, operating within the framework of World Lottery Associations (WLA) and adopting and developing the highest standards for Responsible Game, while transforming its business excellence into a social offering through a comprehensive Social Corporate Strategy strategy.
