Government’s Move to Curb Ads Promoting Online Betting
New Delhi, India (January 2, 2022) — In a clear move to curb the negative effects of betting in online gaming in India, the government, under the new online gaming policy, has prohibited betting and its advertising under Article 31B, informed Union Minister of State for Electronics & Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar on January 2 in Delhi.
The MoS also informed us that the final rules will probably be ready for notification by early February.
“Betting and advertising for betting have been brought into Article 31B as a prohibition.
“A self-regulatory body has been designed and built into the rules that will be responsible for determining and to certify about what is permitted online gaming intermediatory on the internet.
“Hopefully, we will have the final rules ready for notification by early February,” Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.
