Kansas Lottery Releases December Sports Betting Numbers

Topeka, KS (January 11, 2023) — The Kansas Lottery has released its final revenue report for 2022 from sports betting in the state.

 

  • December total sports betting handle $181,977,180, down 2.3% from November ($186,353,708)
  • December mobile sports betting handle $171,184,862, down 3.3% from November ($177,051,484)
  • December revenue $10,305,912, up 28.8% from November ($8,002,730)
  • Total sports betting taxes for December were $1,026,140, up 28.9% from November ($795,784)

The report said revenue in December had a significant increase, with the record $10.3 million amount making up nearly half of the state’s revenue for the year.

The total revenue for Kansas from sports betting in 2022 was $20,984,811.

The Lottery expects a decrease of 4 percent in the sports betting handle for January.   Kansas began sports betting in September, but Lottery officials said the state is quickly establishing itself in the national market.   The Super Bowl and March Madness are expected to drive growth in 2023.
