THE HAGUE, Netherlands (February 2, 2023) — Sometimes it is a matter of patience: as early as 2012, the Gaming Authority (Ksa) provided support to the Public Prosecution Service in the investigation code-named Rykiel, which revolved around the illegal provision of online games of chance. In December 2018, 31 suspects were convicted in this criminal case (including 13 companies).
On February 1, it was announced that three suspects must (re)pay more than 24 million euros to the State of the Netherlands. The court has ruled that there is an “illegally obtained advantage” by operating an illegal online casino.
