BUDAPEST, Hungary (February 20, 2023) — Revenue of state-owned lottery company Szerencsejáték rose 17% to HUF 820 billion last year, according to chairman-CEO Andrea Mager, writes origo.hu.

Betting on sports generated HUF 471 bln or 57% of turnover, Mager said.

Online betting made up around one-third of revenue, she added.

She noted that Szerencsejáték no longer enjoys a monopoly on sports betting from the start of the year but said the company has made it an “important target” to keep “at least 50%” of the online sports betting market. Revenue from scratch-off cards rose 26% to HUF 64 bln.

Revenue from lottery games rose “modestly,” except for turnover from Eurojackpot games, and accounted for close to 22% of total turnover. Payouts on winnings came to HUF 580 bln.
