National Lottery of Spain Joins the Celebration of 100 Years of Rugby
SPAIN (February 3, 2023) –The president of State Lotteries and Gambling (SELAE), Jesús Huerta Almendro, the president of the Spanish Rugby Federation, Juan Carlos Martín, and the high commissioner of the Rugby Centenary in Spain, David Deosdad, presented on February 2 the tenth of the National Lottery on Saturday, February 11, dedicated to the 100 years of Rugby in our country.
In this case, the chapel is illustrated with the logo of this centenary, as well as the logo of the Federation. The image is framed with the legend: “100 years of Rugby”. With this tenth, Lotteries consolidates its commitment to disseminate and promote the values of Spanish sport.
The president of Lotteries, Jesús Huerta, has highlighted that with this tenth “Lotteries joins the celebration of a historic sport in our country, which champions value such as effort, self-improvement or the importance of teamwork.” In addition, Jesús Huerta also recalled that it is a Federation with which Lotteries have collaborated since 2017, “supporting and promoting the competitions in which our women’s and men’s teams participate.” Proof of this support, Lotteries, as a bronze sponsor, collaborated last year with the Women’s and Men’s Rugby 7 International Senior Teams Tournaments, held in the Alicante town of Elche. He also supported the Rugby XV Absolute Team Test Match.
For Juan Carlos Martín, president of the Spanish Rugby Federation, this tenth is “an unbeatable opportunity to make visible the centenary of our sport in Spain, whose society shares the five values of rugby: integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline, and respect”.
In addition to this iconic and historic tenth lottery, during this 2023 the Spanish Rugby Federation will carry out different events to celebrate its centenary such as the preparation of a book commemorating these 100 years, the organization of a large-scale international women’s tournament, and the match that will face Spain with Argentina on August 26 at Atlético de Madrid’s stadium, the Cívitas Metropolitano.
For the National Lottery Draw on February 11, a total of 10 million tickets have been put up for sale at Lottery points of sale, which will make it possible to publicize these 100 years of Rugby throughout Spain. The Draw will distribute 42 million euros in prizes, including a first prize of 600,000 euros for the series or a second prize of 120,000 euros for the series.
