Nevada Gaming Control Board: Version 9 of the Minimum Internal Control Standards Effective April 1, 2023

March 20, 2023 | Government

NEVADA (March 17, 2023) — On February 13, 2023, the Nevada Gaming Control Board adopted revisions to the Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) dated October 24, 2022.

No objections have been received pursuant to NGC Regulation 6.090(6). Accordingly, Version 9 of the MICS will become effective on April 1, 2023. All Group I nonrestricted licensees must be in compliance with the new standards no later than June 1, 2023. Version 9 of the MICS is available on the Board’s website at https://gaming.nv.gov/index.aspx?page=182.

Although compliance with the MICS is not required until June 1, 2023, licensees may choose to establish procedures that comply with the MICS prior to June 1, 2023. No MICS variations or prior Board notification is required for such early compliance.

Licensees may choose to file a new or amended written system of internal control. A complete submission incorporating the necessary changes is due to the Board’s Audit Division on or before May 1, 2023. All written systems of internal control must have an effective date of June 1, 2023, or earlier. As licensees transition to MICS Version 9, it will not be necessary to submit any further amendments to the existing written system of internal control.

Note that the Audit Division webpage on the Board’s website at https://gaming.nv.gov includes links to Version 9 of the MICS, information on internal controls, NGC Regulation 6.090 Written System of Internal Control Policies, and additional related documents.
