Bogota, DC, Colombia (May 5, 2023) – As a sign of the commitment between Coljuegos and the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali, where actions are generated that must be carried out in favour of the fight against illegality in this sector, the territorial entity and the regulator led a related Technical and Commercial Table with games of luck and chance, in which joint work between operators, local authorities and territorial entities is promoted to sensitize citizens to the importance of playing only in Internet establishments and portals authorized by Coljuegos.

Coljuegos (regulatory body) has been working diligently in the capital of Valle del Cauca, where in recent months it has carried out close to 16 operations with police authorities in illegal gambling establishments. This work is reflected in the national figures related to localized games, between January and March 2023, where the contributions to health have been 86 billion pesos, which correspond to exploitation rights. In addition, betting sales for this period, in this type of game, reached 10.5 billion pesos in the first quarter of 2023, generating growth of 19.3% compared to the same period in 2022.

The Vice President of Commercial Development of Coljuegos, Henry García González, acknowledged the municipal administration of Santiago de Cali for joining this initiative and reiterated that for the National Government of President Gustavo Petro, it is a priority to work hand in hand with the entities territorial in the consolidation of this industry as a legal and responsible entertainment activity. “This meeting demonstrates the commitment of the local administration in the fight against illegality in games of luck and chance, and the work for the health of all Caleños,” added García González.

Similarly, the Mayor of Santiago de Cali, Jorge Iván Ospina Gómez, reiterated his administration’s commitment to support inspection and control in the fight against illegality in games of luck and chance, as well as to raise awareness and educational actions in the capital of Valle del Cauca. “It is an honor to have the directors of Coljuegos and the unions of the gaming industry in our city, we are an entity that works as a team and seeks to strengthen the health system of the people of Cali, combating illegality in games of luck and chance,” said the president.

The Technical and Commercial Table related to games of luck and chance with the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali was attended by the mayor of the city, Jorge Iván Ospina Gómez, the vice president of Commercial Development of Coljuegos, Henry García González, the Secretary of Office of the Mayor, Jimmy Dranguet, Major Julián Vanegas of the National Police, as well as representatives of the unions, operators of games of luck and chance, and municipal authorities.

Finally, it is important to highlight that with respect to the latest figures from the National Council of Games of Luck and Chance – CNJSA, the transfers of territorial games in March 2023 amounted to 104,000 million pesos, between lotteries, Chance and Raspa&Listo, exceeding in 9% to the same period in 2022, which demonstrates the commitment of the territorial operators for the health resources of Colombians.
