Isabelle FALQUE-PIERROTIN Elected President of the European Forum of Gambling Regulators
FRANCE (June 9, 2023) — The annual Gambling Regulators’ European Forum (GREF) Conference was held from 5 to 7 June in Bergen, Norway. More than 90 participants from around thirty regulators from all over Europe met there to discuss subjects of common interest such as the protection of players, the fight against illegal offers or recent technological innovations that could impact money games.
The General Assembly elected a new Board which is now chaired by Isabelle FALQUE-PIERROTIN for a 2-year term. The Board is made up of:
-
Anders Dorph (Spillemyndighedens – Danish regulator), vice-president;
-
Tim Miller (UK Gambling Commission – British regulator), treasurer;
-
Sarah Kelly ( Alderney Gambling Control Commission – regulator of Alderney ), secretary;
-
Magali Clavie (Gaming Commission – Belgian regulator), Atle Hamar (Lottstift – Norwegian regulator) and Kinga Warda (Malta Gaming Authority – Maltese regulator), members.
GREF wishes to strengthen cooperation between the various regulators. Faced with new market challenges, this is indeed crucial to enable regulators to better understand trends and develop effective and legitimate solutions.
A first assessment of the activity of the new Board will be made at the next GREF Annual Conference to be held in Malta in May 2024.
For Isabelle FALQUE-PIERROTIN: “At a time when innovations are accelerating and questioning current regulations, and when public opinion is concerned about the protection of players, the European level is decisive. We face the same questions and our exchanges are fruitful. I believe that the regulators, in the current period of great complexity, have a particular voice to make heard, listening to the various stakeholders and serving the protection of players.”
