Joint press conference of the Thuringian Ministry of Finance and the Thuringian State Lottery to award good player protection on July 4, 2023 in Erfurt

SUHL, Thuringia, Germany (July 4, 2023) — LOTTO Thüringen has set itself the task of providing offers that give the players entertainment and pleasure. As a state provider of gaming products, the company has a special social responsibility towards players and ensures that the products and distribution are as safe as possible by designing the products and distribution that are low-risk and player-protecting.

“LOTTO Thüringen not only guarantees compliance with legal requirements, such as B. that of youth protection, but also the security in the storage and processing of the data and the mediation of offers of help before the game threatens to become an addiction.

The company pays particular attention to the protection of minors: A large number of measures ensure that under 18s are excluded from gambling both in the acceptance points and on the digital sales channels. “The protection of minors is particularly important because, according to scientific findings, gambling at a young age increases the risk of later addictive behavior,” says Finance Minister Heike Taubert.

Through extensive training, the employees of LOTTO Thüringen are informed about the special dangers that can accompany gambling – from risky gambling behavior to pathological gambling. Regular test purchases in the acceptance points prove that the staff acts consistently in accordance with the law and the requirements and that player protection is therefore guaranteed around the clock.

The award of the acceptance points that have passed every test purchase in the last three years symbolizes the importance of the issue of youth protection at LOTTO Thüringen – its employees – and all those who operate the terminals in the acceptance points. The award of 300 acceptance points in the Free State is intended to motivate preventive action and also draw customers’ attention to the issue of youth protection.

“The award of particularly committed acceptance points is a sign of appreciation and the emphasis on the outstanding youth protection of LOTTO Thüringen and its cooperation partners,” said the Minister of Finance.
