BRAZIL (August 28, 2023) — CAIXA and the CAIXA Lotteries announced this Thursday (24th), in São Paulo (SP), R$ 68.3 million in sponsorship for Brazilian sport. In addition to renewing contracts with the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) and the Brazilian Athletics Confederation (CBAt), the bank signed a partnership with the National Basketball League (LNB) to sponsor the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB).
The announcements took place during the opening of the 20 Extraordinary Years exhibition , at CAIXA Cultural São Paulo, which celebrates the bank’s two decades of sponsorship of the CPB. The event was attended by the president of CAIXA, Maria Rita Serrano, the president of LNB, Rodrigo Montoro, the vice president of CBAt, Edson Luciano, the president of CPB, Mizael Conrado, athletes and other authorities.
“Today’s announcements demonstrate CAIXA’s commitment to Brazilian sport. Not only that: in addition to generating jobs and income, the bank’s support opens up opportunities for children and adults to find in sport a possibility of a better, healthier life, with respect for differences and social inclusion”, said president Maria Rita Serrano.
“Not to mention the top athletes who, with the sponsorship of CAIXA, have better conditions to take the name of Brazil to the highest podiums in the world”, he added.
CAIXA back to Men’s Basketball:
CAIXA and the CAIXA Lotteries are official sponsors of Novo Basquete Brasil, which is now called NBB CAIXA. The value of the contract is R$9.3 million, lasting from October 2023 to September 2024. With this, the bank resumes its partnership with national men’s basketball, which occurred between 2016 and 2019.
The NBB, the main national adult men’s basketball championship, is organized by the LNB and this season will feature 19 clubs. “This resumption comes at a very good time for basketball and for the League. We are facing an upcoming NBB season, which tends to break the record for participating groups. It is a contract that was already very well executed, when Liga had this previous relationship with CAIXA and, now, we expect to improve even more, to develop basketball even more in this partnership with CAIXA”, explains Rodrigo Montoro, president of the National Basketball League.
The entity also organizes, with support from the Ministry of Sports, the Basketball Development League (LDB), a national competition for under-22 clubs.
Partnership with Athletics since 2001:
CAIXA and CBAt complete 22 years of partnership in 2023. The renewal, through CAIXA Lotteries, worth R$24 million, runs until February 2025.
In addition to subsidizing the preparation of Brazilian athletes for national and international competitions, sponsorship enables social project actions and continued education in partnership with schools and social centers. “There are 60 athletics schools, almost 4,000 children working in athletics. There is no better transformation tool than sport. This sponsorship strengthens this transformation tool and helps the Brazilian Athletics Confederation discover talents”, celebrates CBAt vice-president, Edson Luciano.
20 years of support for Brazilian parasports:
Consolidating a partnership that started in 2003, Loterias CAIXA renewed the sponsorship contract with CPB until December 2024, with an investment of R$ 35 million. The bank’s support is the longest-lasting sponsorship of a national committee in the history of global parasport.
“CAIXA’s sponsorship was, is and will be fundamental for us to continue advancing both from the point of view of high performance, with our athletes achieving results around the world, as well as the inclusion of people with disabilities. Today is a very special day for the Paralympic movement”, celebrates Mizael Conrado , president of CPB.
The sponsorship allows the maintenance of 67 Reference Centers spread across the country and the service of more than 3,500 athletes, between sports initiation and high performance.
20 Extraordinary Years Exhibition:
The 20 Extraordinary Years exhibition , inaugurated today (24) by President Maria Rita Serrano, celebrates the bank’s two decades of sponsorship of CPB and brings together sensorial works that generate experiences of inclusion for the public. Visitation is free and can be seen until October 8th in all seven CAIXA cultural spaces in the country: Brasília, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo.
CAIXA and Sport:
CAIXA and the CAIXA Lotteries also sponsor the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG) and the Women’s Basketball League (LBF). Over the past 22 years, around R$698 million has been allocated to support various sports.
These investments directly impacted the lives of 148,000 people, including high-performance athletes and young talents. In addition, CAIXA promoted the development of sports activities in 92 social centers and 20 centers of excellence throughout Brazil.
“ This is part of a set of actions that the bank has been taking to truly return to playing a relevant role in the country’s development. This involves sports, culture, infrastructure projects, thinking about the country as a whole and, mainly, the social and economic inclusion of the most vulnerable people. We have a project to place CAIXA as a protagonist in the inclusion of Brazilians”, concludes Maria Rita Serrano.
