Hospitality and Racing’s Regulatory Roadshow Hits Sydney’s Southwest
SYDNEY, Australia (September 20, 2023) — Key staff at Hospitality and Racing NSW have met with licenced venues and industry stakeholders from across southwest Sydney at the Fairfield Regulatory Roadshow.
Local businesses and industry groups were given the opportunity to engage with senior Hospitality and Racing executives to discuss regulatory priorities and share their insights at the event on September 19.
Hospitality and Racing NSW Acting CEO Tarek Barakat said the Regulatory Roadshow series helped his staff connect with those working across the industry, which had been particularly important while the NSW Government was undertaking substantial reforms in the gaming sector.
“The event in Fairfield was a great success with close to 170 attendees joining us to share their experience and ideas across the hospitality and racing sectors,” he said.
“We received a fantastic response from those who took the time to attend and meet with the senior executive team.
“Many were pleased to hear about the industry support available to them.”
The Fairfield event is the third in a series of roadshows featuring a range of speakers, interactive panel discussions and information booths about NSW Government’s services.
Nearly 200 industry leaders have attended previous roadshows in Newcastle and Bathurst. The NSW Government will be holding additional roadshows in Sydney CBD and Kiama later in 2023.
“We are working to cut red tape, simplify licensing and apply evidence-based measures to reduce gambling harms across NSW,” Mr Barakat said.
“We really value this type of engagement with industry, and we are looking forward to the additional roadshows we have planned for 2023.”
First time attendee Stephanie Vincent, Responsible Gaming Manager from the Ramsgate RSL Group said attending the event was extremely helpful.
“Being at the event means you can ask questions that you can’t ask a website. The face-to-face responses helped us understand how to stay compliant and keep up with the regulations, policies and trends in the industry.” Ms Vincent said.
