Sweden Announce Positive Message for the Work Against Match-Fixing
Strängnäs, Sweden (October 11, 2023) — The announcement that the government intends to join Sweden to the Macolin Convention will facilitate the work against match-fixing and corruption in sports. This is in line with the proposal from the government regarding the Spelinspektionen’s expanded mission and resources in match-fixing and illegal gambling.
The Swedish Gambling Authority is already active today in the European work against match-fixing, joining the convention will enable the authority to become even more involved in that work.
The Macolin Convention is intended to prevent manipulation of sports competitions and create opportunities for cooperation between sports betting companies and authorities in Europe.
