Warning for Unauthorized Harness Racing Betting Options

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (November 21, 2023) — The Gaming Authority (Ksa) received a signal about offering betting options on harness racing (‘trotting’) without a permit. After contact with the provider, who does have a license for other games of chance, the offer was immediately stopped. The Ksa leaves it at a warning.

At the beginning of October, the Ksa received a signal about a licensed online provider that offered betting on harness racing on its website. The Ksa had not granted a permit for this offer. Following the signal, an immediate investigation was carried out and it was found that harness racing could indeed be used on the website.

The offer was stopped within 40 minutes after contacting the Ksa by the provider and was no longer observed. Further investigation revealed that no players bet on this specific offer and that no turnover was generated. The provider has also taken measures to prevent recurrence.

Warning

Due to the adequate response and direct action of the provider, the Ksa has left it with a warning for now. The Ksa would like to emphasize that this is a serious violation. The gambling sector is a fraud and addiction-sensitive sector. It is therefore very important that there are rules attached to games of chance and that license holders adhere to those rules.
